Who wants to smell like chocolate cake?
Who wants to smell like chocolate cake? Sometimes you eat so many sugary desserts that even thinking about dessert makes you nauseous. This scent makes me feel like I'm in a sugar coma.

Although it has no chocolate or cocoa in it, it smells like chocolate cake and hazelnut chocolate wafer. Maybe if I was 10 years old it would interest me, but I worry about going into a diabetic coma.

Stays on fabric for over 8 hours. The rate of spread decreases after 4 hours. If you leave a room, your scent will still be felt in the room.

Not long ago, I thought Montale would be unbearable for me. I had long since weaned myself off vanilla. Dark, warm woods are my personal horror. Ylang-Ylang triggers my flight instinct.

“Vanilla Extasy” is bursting with Montalinade, is predictably very vanilla, but also dark-woody (with a slightly malty tobacco note) and on top of that has the typical scratchiness of Ylang-Ylang. And yet, my nose does a little dance of joy when I spray “Vanilla Extasy” on myself. I see bright sunbeams on a rosewood-colored cashmere sweater, I see skin, I see softness. No sign of a flight reflex. It goes without saying that I have to wonder.

Is “Vanilla Extasy” so pleasant for noses like mine that prefer warm scents because creamy light benzoin resin is part of the mix? Because amber here particularly skillfully imitates the scent of warm skin? Quite possible.

However, I suspect something quite, quite dreadful behind my enthusiasm: dreadful at least for the lovers of the fragrance. I think it is primarily the delicious, slightly floral-synthetic hairspray note that makes me so euphoric here. Not three-weather hairspray, but rather a hint of salon-quality hairspray cloud. A downright philistine reason for my enthusiasm, I admit.

And now light your torches and chase me out of the scent village.

But I hope that one or another fan of cosmetic fragrances (a fellow philistine, that is) quickly comes around with a veto.

Why so shy?
After reading numerous reviews, I eventually decided to acquire this rather controversially discussed fragrance in the form of a sample.
As a vanilla advocate, I approached this scent with a lot of skepticism. On one hand, fragrance notes that I personally favor - on the other hand, those bad reviews that almost deterred me from purchasing it. In this case, I came to the realization that one should ultimately rely on their own nose :).

The first spray: OK wow!
I am enveloped by this indescribable mix of apricot and vanilla. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that sticky synthetic air freshener apricot. No, it feels almost refreshing, light. I would even say it’s the early-ripening apricot that takes away that cloying sweetness.
Over time, the vanilla increasingly dominates, but it doesn’t impose itself; rather, it takes on the role of the “shy” one. Perhaps this is also the crux of the matter, which is why the longevity (in contrast to the other Montales) is rather low.
In my opinion, this perfume is suitable for both warm and cold days. The sillage seems to be good, as I received a compliment for the second time already.

Well, the bottle color looks dull, boring, and unremarkable. It definitely does not reflect the interesting content inside. By the way, a colorful (orange) accent would certainly attract more attention. Because this scent truly deserves it.

Ultimately, I believe, and this is my personal opinion, that Vanilla Extasy should not hide behind the other Montale fragrances.

Vanille fleurie by Montale
Suddenly it has become cold. After it was over 25°C just two days ago, the temperature has plummeted to 10°C. So it's time to light the fireplace, put on the thick winter slippers, and indulge in warm, cozy scents. On my left hand, I am wearing Chocolate Greedy - and it does exactly what I expect.
On my right hand, I have applied Vanilla Extasy and - I am surprised! VE starts off with vanilla right from the beginning, but even stronger is a ripe, juicy, honey-coated apricot that emerges. The fruit is carried by the vanilla, which overall smells less sweet than the fruit. As the fruity aspect fades, a white floral note slowly joins in, still accompanied by the vanilla. This vanilla remains rather dry and not sweet throughout, giving the fragrance a refined and mature character. The base, finally, is vanilla in a warm woody tone, though this is very subtle. Only here does the vanilla take center stage.
I would classify VE less as a gourmand fragrance and more as a "vanilla-ized" white floral composition.
I believe the wearer should not be too young, as this scent has nothing playful about it. However, a more mature lady would lack the innocence that gives this fragrance a delicate touch of eroticism. But on the right wearer .....

Exstasy sticks to me with oversized resins. Synthetic fruity-floral with “vanilla” scent + artificial wood. No, thanks.

Vanilla, a hint of jasmine, and lots of amber. Ecstasy is something else. It lacks passion, more like a kitchen love. :-))
