Solid 8/10
Initial spray is a wonderfully rich tobacco with a bubblegum smell alongside it and a vague scent of citrus rounding it off. Very unique! As it drys down, the oud comes more to the fore, it’s a creamy, Westernised, sweet oud, not an aggressive, overpowering one. The longevity and sillage is excellent, easily 8-10 hours. 8’s across the board for this one, with maybe an 8.5 for value. Really nice.

Nice mix of the two main notes, another solid Montale release
Oud Tobacco is one of Montale’s recent releases and is a mix of the two eponymous notes, with some citrus, spices, and sweets, which yields a sort of spicy, sharp, woody, resinous, sweet mix that’s very workable and apt for cooler weather. Cumin is the main listed note that accounts for the spicy, slightly animalic quality present throughout, but the oud itself does not contribute in an animalic or medicinal way, from what I can tell, but rather supports the sort of smoky, resinous undercurrent below the cumin, tobacco, and sweet contribution of tonka. The citrus / orange blossom notes are faint, at best, as the fragrance does not seem to express them very clearly to me at any point. Rather, there’s a generally well-blendedness and creaminess throughout most of the fragrance, and I imagine that the orange blossom especially helps facilitate a smoother blend.

Overall, it’s a very powerful and very agreeable entry, even though it somehow reminds me slightly of designer releases (i.e. Bvlgari Man in Black, albeit with less of a V&R Spicebomb vibe) while having its own character. It’s not quite as interesting as a couple releases from Mancera / Montale from about a year ago (Precious Oud and Oud Dream, respectively) but it remains impressive that their empire can churn out good releases so consistently.

In the US, Oud Tobacco is sold by Krystal Fragrance and Beverly Hills Perfumery with the standard pricing of $170 for 100ml.

Grape..... kinda
Montale as a brand produces a lot of hit or miss juice, this is hitting hard for sure. This was my first niche and when I first sprayed it I could smell only grape but as my nose got better I could see the complexities of the fragrance and how the spice and sweet citrus made it seem like a grape note. The opening is great in my opinon , its very sweet with a note of a sweeter pipe tobacco which isnt smokey at all, just more of a bolder statement note. Orange blossom and citrus which are different then a classic citrus, instead of being refreshing and "Clean" this is more of a mix between herbal citrus tea and those creamsicles. Cumin doesnt really make the scent spicey but more of an influence on grounding it and calming the sweetness so its not gormound but more of a sophisticated slightly sweet aroma of formality. The dry down doesnt change the dynamic it only refines the scent and adds a creamy factor to the overall feel. Also the bottle is amazing red+gold is sexy and for 70$ on jomashop its a steal.

Need more!
No tobacco, no problem. Maybe they should name this Oud Tonka. It starts off very bright, then settle into a Tonka with Oud . It does become a little creamy. So it's Tonka and cream with a little oud that's very faint. I do get some type of floral at the beginning maybe it's jasmine along with some citrus, that's more like the peel of the orange . That is all coming from the first spray and I will have to give this a full wearing before my final judgment. So a second review may be coming soon.

Here, caution is advised!
This scent is not for the faint of heart.
At the beginning, a tobacco bomb unfolds that I have never experienced before. Once the Oud Tobacco settles, there is no escape.
A sillage of this magnitude is very hard to come by.

A good friend told me that after an evening visit, this Montale had permeated the scent of the entire hallway until the next afternoon.

One must be careful with the dosage, but it is a knockout. You either despise it or you love it! A showstopper as ever.
I got to know and love it in the perfume shop without any actual intention to buy; for me, it's a perfect scent for special evenings paired with a shirt and fine Scotch.

Citrus opening with spices, tobacco and slightly boozy. In the drydown, I get a cozy tonka bean with an unlisted cedar (maybe orange leaves)

Absolutely not what I expected. Sweet alluring moist tobacco and no synthetic oud... and also bubblegum? One of the best from the house.

Initially boozy spicy-citric, this gently smoky, warm and earthy, fruity-floral Fall fragrance, settles to a creamy/sweet earthy-woody base.

The combination of oud and orange blossom is balanced. It's sweet, wintry and totally unisex.

Pleasant orangey tobacco, virtually less complex than 1 Million. Decent performance.

one of the best tobacco fragrances i've ever smelled, the top note is a perfect sweet tobacco. but it's missing a base, it has no heart..

Sweetly arranged tobacco with plenty of orange blossom and tonka, other spicy notes or oud hardly come through. The scent would be even better if it were less sweet.

As always with Montale, it’s a real punch in the face, but since the oud takes a backseat to the flowers and fruit, I’ll let it slide.
