Among the best!
One of my favourite vetivers and favourite Montales. This fresh combination of spices and vetiver seems to appeal me a lot! I just purchased a full bottle from this beauty. This scent is really relaxing, and sets my mind to a relaxing, confident state. This smells like a hay of dried vetiver roots splashed with Grapefruit and Black Pepper. I smell Elemi, Patchouli, Cedarwood too, which adds to the complexity of the scent. These notes stay in the background, never overpowering the vetiver/spice notes. Great longevity and sillage.

On a sidenote: I have and use both Terre d'Hermes and Montale's Vetyver. I admit they are similar, but if you "listen", you can smell the differences. Honestly I can recommend both.

My Vetiver Top!
Red Vetiver is exclusive and gorgeous.

It is far better than Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver because this RV smells so rich and elegant.

I like this better than Chanel Sycomore (sweeter and milder) & even with my Terre de Hermes EDP & EDT. RV is strong but non cloying. It is a scent that would make a statement that you've got a wonderful taste in fragrance. It is rich, the vetiver is formal, the projection and longevity is to die for.

So far, I have tried many Vetiver fragrance from designers to Niche vetivers even the 1902 Vetiver. But of all these frags, my top is RV, second is Encre Noir, next would be Sel de Vetiver, TDH EDP, Sycomore & L'Occitane Vetyver.

Red Vetiver is good to blind buy so long as you have an idea what a vetiver note smelled from other perfumes. You can't go wrong with RV. It is for me, so far, Montale's best after trying my other Montales: Red Aoud, Black Aoud, Patchouli Leaves, White Aoud and Aoud Ambre.

Montale Red Vetiver: 9.5/10 ... It is almost a holy grail, almost, a wonder!

Delicious spicy vetiver!
Yes, Red Vetyver is mostly like Terre D'Hermes, BUT with a better lasting power in my skin.

In my opinion the spices added to Red Vetyver gives an edge to it.

Wonderful scent for summer/spring, althought it can be used all year around.

Sillage is medium, lasting power is around 10 hours and projection is medium-heavy.

If you are in doubt, just buy both them: two great scents.

Not my favourite vetiver
Citrusy start, clear vetiver dry down. I think of this as a "middle of the road" vetiver - not too dank, not too heavy, not too earthy - but not as bright or light or dry as other vetivers I've smelled, like in THoO's Each Other, for example. I found this scent to be fairly straightforward and linear. Citrusy top faded quickly, as these are wont to do, leaving my impressions of this fragrance as mostly just a vetiver. A lovely vetiver, but basic and straightforward nonetheless.

The comparison to Terre d'Hermes is obvious and must be commented on. I found it less complex and interesting than TdH, which I was surprised by. I also found it had less longevity and sillage - also a surprise for me given this is an EDP. Perhaps I went noseblind to it? Also notably that the flinty notes I love so much in TDH are absent here.

from the deep, deep cellar
Yesterday, my sales associate specifically descended into the deep cellar to serve me Red Vetiver.

With Montales, I am always cautious, as they can be hits - or completely miss the mark.

But the cellar association remained intact - and led me to the dimly lit vault in my grandfather's house.

There, I crouched anxiously under cobwebs, carefully groping for the wine rack.
The scent of his numerous riding boots hit me, which he meticulously treated with leather grease and other tinctures.
Leather and sharp. Biting.
On the shelves lurked dubious bottles adorned with creepy skulls, exuding medicinal scents.
These were not to be confused with the wine bottles.

The bare light bulb cast long shadows and distorted my silhouette.

And just as distorted and eerie do I find Red.
No soft - earthy vetiver - but bare, echoing cellar walls.

Quickly grabbed a wine bottle - regardless of the condition and vintage - and off I went.

This flight reflex is also triggered in me by Red - straight to the saving faucet.

This is a just a copy of Terre de Hermes. Another Montale copycat parfum. It last longer then Hermes but hermes is more juicy/citrusy.

Nice dry woody vetiver with a blast of black pepper. Balsamic notes come in after a while. I like to call him "Terre d'Hermes on steroids"

This for me has very poor longevity and sillage....smells good but lacks performance.

Nice winter vetiver with Hermes vibe, lined with peruvian balm, ok performance. It's Montale, but it's good :)

This one and Terre EDT and Encre Noire is the best masculine vetiver I can stand but just in winter.

Montale for business.
Grapefruit is nice. Cedar-vetiver has a good citrus note with Elemi. Pleasantly synthetic.
2000s charm.
Doesn't seduce.
