I'm not the target audience...
Since venturing into the community of fragrance enthusiasts and reviewers, Parfums de Marly has been one of the most recurring fragrances in my feed.
I had never heard about this fragrance house prior to that.
The rave had me interested, but the pink, plastic-looking and very feminine bottle design had me doing U-turns avoiding it at all costs.

I was creating my own sample set for purchase and among classics like Baccarat Rouge 540 and Oud for Greatness, I sneaked in Delina, just out of curiosity.

Delina by Parfums de Marly is a light and quite fresh floral fragrance. I cannot distinguish any specific notes except rose. To be frank, it is an absolute disappointment. I understand why most people like it, florals are usually pleasing to everyone, but not me, which makes me more critical. What positive words I do have to say about Delina, is that it has a potent longevity and I could smell it on my skin all day.

The opening note is a fresh floral, but the dry down revealed a soap quality to the fragrance that had me smelling like I just had taken a bath with a bar of rose soap. Comically enough, not liquid soap, but a realistic scent of a bar of soap. Oddly specific. Close to the skin, Delina is a little sweeter, but the whiffs I got during the day made me frown in displeasement.

I read reviews and searched for the note composition, which to my surprise had many other elements aside from florals, but my nose only caught the smell of a wild rose Walther Rau bar soap.

It is not the first time that I find myself not liking a community favourite, always a trick to be the odd one out, but I stay true to my words and thoughts and Delina will not be revisited by me anytime soon.

SNOOP DOGG MADE ME DO IT: MY THOUGHTS ON THIS ROSY AFFAIR
I’ve never been a fan of the overhyped Delina. It’s always felt far too rosy for my taste. However, in light of recent events, I decided to revisit this scent and give it a proper wear to see if my feelings had changed. By "recent events," I mean none other than Snoop Dogg declaring his love for Delina — apparently, it’s his signature scent.

Now, let’s be honest: I’m pretty sure he was paid an obscene amount of money to mention it in that interview, and I’d bet good money he doesn’t actually wear it. Still, the idea of smelling cool and Snoop-approved was enough to make me curious. So, I spritzed it on and braced myself.

Delina is still very rosy — no surprises there. It’s a powdery, soapy, clean kind of rose. What saves it for me is that delicious lychee note and, my favorite part, the sharp, citric rhubarb opening. That tartness is mouthwatering and keeps the rose from veering into vintage, matronly territory. For a while, it’s a bright, juicy balance that’s surprisingly enjoyable. It stays fairly linear for about two hours, but eventually, the fruity notes fade, leaving behind a dominant powdery rose and soap accord. In the drydown, the vanilla peeks through, adding a touch of sweetness, but it never becomes cloying or syrupy — just smooth and subtle.

Performance-wise, it’s solid. The scent itself is naive, fresh, and flirtatious. I can see why so many people love it; it’s crowd-pleasing, versatile, and perfect for fruity-floral fans who adore pastel vibes.

But as for me? I still can’t see myself wearing it — or Snoop Dogg, for that matter. Maybe if I smoked a ton of weed and got the munchies, I’d understand the appeal a little better. Who knows?

A scent that walks the line of universally likeable without stepping into boring
It opens with a crisp, almost astringent green-ness, as if in order for the scent to unfold, the rhubarb stems need to break to make room for what’s to follow. It is slowly but surely sweetened by the lichee and after a few minutes have passed to allow the top notes to shine, the star of the show walks in, sensually — the damascena rose.

The rose’s classic, sometimes stern personality is softened around the edges by sweet, almost girlish peony and as the fragrance has had a few minutes to bloom on your skin, it’s difficult to place — neither too grown up, nor juvenile, it’s less sweet than the bottle and sugary marketing suggest, a bit of the juicy, verdant opening is still there… only one thing is for certain: this is not a basic perfume. It commands attention as a modern classic in the best sense — complex, surprising, and instantly recognisable in a sea of floral-fruity-rose fragrances.

As the base unfurls beneath the floral heart, the scent becomes creamier and more grounded, gaining depth from woods, musk, and vanilla. A true olfactive journey from start to finish.

Praised for its impressive longevity, which is quite rare in the floral-fruity family, especially among lighter scents — Delina is every bit a signature-worthy perfume. Worn generously, it can carry you through a moment as grand as your wedding day; worn with restraint, it becomes an airy, elegant choice for everyday wear, even at the office.
Delina — a rose fragrance for those who don’t want to get lost in a sea of perfumery’s classic and some may say even overused note. The irony is, of course, that what is meant to be an unmistakable, personality doused perfume has been on everybody and their mother’s minds and wrists for the past year, original and dupes alike (a practice we do not condone).

Thankfully, however, the “I’m not like the other girls” fad of the 2010s has passed and finding yourself wearing the same outfit as someone else in the room is no longer the end-all be-all faux pas it once was. The truth is, much like an outfit, a perfume doesn’t wear you — you wear it. You are what makes it memorable, distinct and entirely your own.

We give just as much meaning to our perfumes as they give to us. So in a room full of 100 Delina girlies, be the 101th. Bring your own magic to the table.

Unexpected carrot seed opening
On a strip of paper, this is a gorgeous fruity-floral that almost feels like a sunrise to me.

On my skin, it's completely different and comes off mostly as dominantly carrot-seed in the beginning: a little bit bitter but fresh, earthy, and herbal.

It does warm up over time, and turns very soft and sweet - I can see why this is a cult favorite; but the opening makes this one I won't be buying a full bottle of.

Princess Rose
If this perfume was a word, the word would be “Lovely.” First of all, this is a rose scent, very much so, for rose lovers only. It smells like a beautiful fresh flower in a luxurious mahogany room. The rose rests on a luscious woody base and is amplified by the incense, but it’s a realistic rose all the way, maybe even with a touch of essential oil intensity. Sweet vanilla comes through after several hours. I haven’t experienced lychee and rhubarb, but lychee the fruit always reminded me of rose jam, so maybe I just don’t feel the difference.

At some point, it reminded me of Rammstein Rosenrot Intense, maybe with less of a dramatic retro mood. Longevity is commendable, over 12 hours. Even the next day, I catch the traces of it in my hair despite wearing another perfume.

This is an understated luxury, like a designer sheer rose silk dress. It’s a timeless beauty, an old-money esthetic if you like. I can imagine a modern duchess or princess wearing this with her elegant pastels. Very clean, prim, and feminine, it isn’t loud, but has a magnetic presence.
I’ve got a decant as a gift from a fellow perfumista, but I can imagine acquiring a bottle. Simple and lovely.

a very generic and sweet fruity floral; a bit too refined to call “juvenile,” but it feels like a grown up woman that peaked in high school

I mean, it's a very pleasant fruity rose but I do not understand the internet hype cult following. There must have been a celeb influencer??

Fruity rose that is delicate and sweet without being immature. Love the sourness from lychee/rhubarb. It's a basic bitch but I enjoy it

Sour rose that doesn't do enough to set itself apart from the crowd. Reminds me of a million other rose frags. Maybe this was original once?

Floral-fruity-sweet. I get dewy rose & moderate rhubarb on a base of prominent vanilla and an average blend of musk & cashmeran.

A basic rose scent that smartly uses to lychee to keep the rose from being too loud. Not worth the price but nice.

Ew. The rhubarb smells really off in here. Otherwise it may not be too bad, but I just cannot get over that.
