A Bit of Japanese Spring in Italy
My signature summer scent for 2019 was clearly “Sakura” by AdP. A truly memorable surprise from Italy. Acqua di Parma rocks a new side with its “Signatures of the Sun” Collection. Transparent flacons with black labels and golden writing. Fits with the rest. Simple and elegant but also more expensive than the yellow or blue options in the range. The other confident offshoots of this collection should also be given a look. (Camelia, Osmanthus, Vaniglia, and Yuzu). Osmanthus was also very high on my list this year.

About the scent itself:
This is how quality smells from start to finish. Sakura generally does not smell like every other fragrance out there. This scent does it differently and does it really well. Light, elevated, striking, and floral. This fragrance is not off the shelf and immediately conveys that it has class. You can tell that this scent will not be cheap to acquire. A fragrance must first achieve this level of quality. It gives the impression of wearing Dior or Chanel Couture. Bravissima AdP.

Opulent opens with soft mandarin and is followed by a kind of mild honeydew. A sparkling golden-yellow bergamot sweetness. However, it doesn’t last too long. It is replaced by a noble freshness. This freshness carries the colors of cherry blossom: pink, white, light blue, but also yellow/orange. There is nothing citrusy sour or cologne-like.
I sense the pepper very little. Everything makes it quite feminine at first, and then it shifts into a unisex scent. Gentlemen, dare to try it!
What is simulated here as cherry blossom is more of a young green rose, almond blossom, marzipan, cream, pink chewing gum like Hubba Bubba, and cotton candy. Bright musk like Micallef elevates it significantly. The scent does not feel heavy for a second! So, to put it simply, it stays fresh and floral all day long. A clean scent for the majesties of Japan.
Everything feels never disruptive. Softly intertwined and sealed. What a perfume! The eerie part is the veil that you drag behind you. You want to talk to such people, desire them, embrace them. It feels magical.
I can’t get this scent of green almonds out of my head.
Inexperienced fragrance customers might cruelly call it a floral marzipan water on a musk base.
But we at Parfumo don’t think so one-dimensionally. We let ourselves be transported to a simulated Japan in April, in Osaka, where all the cherry trees are in bloom. We are princes or princesses dressed in white, wandering through a sweet-fresh rain of blossoms. You can tell I’m not so good with the cheesy stuff.
Just let yourself be carried away. Experience royal lightness. I immediately got the 180 ml flacon.
Let’s see if I want to share any of it.
If I don’t share, 20 and 100 ml are also available.

Delicate Cherry Blossoms
I deliberately chose the title Delicate Cherry Blossoms because the blossoms are indeed very delicate and fragile, beautifully with a gentle scent. I find the fragrance refined in its nature - somewhat fruity with a pleasant but understated sweetness, floral yet very subtle, almost just a veil. The musk in the dry down makes it a bit more sensual. I see it more on women, but I encourage men to perhaps occasionally explore this direction (why not). After about 2 hours, the delicate cherry blossom bids farewell and is only very faintly perceptible. It leaves a creamy, finely sweet powdered trail on the skin. A great candidate for summer and for those who follow the motto - less is more. I like the blend of a little bit of everything; it develops, in a word, very fine and feminine. Price in the upper segment, beautiful bottle as usual, and a recommendation for the delicate beings among us who prefer to dust lightly rather than spray heavily.

The Italian Kiss of Cherry Blossom
When I leave my house to catch the bus, I pass by a short path lined with four trees. Unremarkable, a thoroughfare through the high-rise labyrinth. But for about three weeks a year, the path between the trees transforms into a sea of pink blossoms, joyfully proclaiming: "Spring has truly arrived!"

What I usually enjoy quietly by myself here is a huge event in Japan. The annual cherry blossom and the accompanying Hanami festival are so important to the Japanese that even during the blooming season, the news daily reports on the degree of bloom opening in various regions of Japan, and at the end, alongside the weather map, a "cherry blossom front" map is displayed, showing where the pink floral dreams are currently in full bloom.

I know, I’m already rambling about culture before describing the fragrance, but I just can’t help sharing interesting things with you, sorry, not sorry.
But yes, I will get to the scent now. Acqua di Parma interprets the cherry blossom, as one might expect, with an Italian/Mediterranean flair. The opening of the fragrance features citrus fruits, which, as I have come to expect from the brand, again appear very natural; although they are not as intense compared to the blue Mediterraneo line, they serve here as companions and not the stars of the perfume.
Quickly, a cherry note blends with the citrus fruits; at first, it reminds more of the fruit than the blossom, but as the fragrance develops, it becomes increasingly floral.

In the heart, we have a truly beautiful cherry blossom. Delicate, sweet, and gently enveloping, it caresses you like a pink silk scarf brushing softly against your face. This scent does not shout its existence; it doesn’t need to. Like the delicate pink blossom it is named after, it embodies stylish understatement. To express it in colors: It is pink, but not garish candy-bar pink; rather, it is an elegant, sheer shade of rosé. This gradually becomes paler towards the end as the white musk blends into the fragrance, gently fading away.

A Parisian Summer Day
Last summer was not particularly remarkable, at least for the most part. However, one week stood out positively for me. A few friends and I spent a week in downtown Paris, trying our best to make the most of it. On our second-to-last day there, I wandered into a small shopping center located on the Champs-Élysées. The perfume department was actually quite small and primarily focused on the brand Acqua di Parma. Naturally, I happily tried out a few fragrances and lingered a bit longer here and there. With the Sakura, it was more than just a few moments. I couldn't tear myself away from the test strip and ended up spraying the scent on my wrist. I left the store because I hadn’t budgeted for 200€ more and forgot about the fragrance for a few days. Then, when I was looking for a good summer and everyday scent for myself, I thought back to my day in Paris. But I couldn't remember the pesky name. Until I visited the Acqua di Parma website and found it again. It felt almost magical, and I was incredibly pleased to see it again. Not even 72 hours later, it was at my doorstep.

So I tried it again and am currently using it as my everyday scent (alternating with Black Afghano and Zoologist Moth, depending on my mood) and I am quite satisfied with it. The Sakura brings a citrusy freshness with a very unique twist from the cherry blossom. It smells even more intense and alluring in the warmth than it does now in winter; I will adjust the scent rating accordingly in spring and summer. (I also don’t rate how a winter fragrance smells in summer and leave it at that.) The mandarin is very prominent, and the cherry blossom, as expected, is too. If something floral wafts into your nose that you can’t quite place, yes, it’s jasmine.

All in all, in typical citrusy Acqua di Parma fashion with a very nice twist. Wonderful as an everyday scent. Of course, it lacks longevity and sillage, as is the case with most Acqua di Parma fragrances, but that is perfectly fine and not their ambition.

I am in April…
… in Bonn on Heerstraße, admiring these wonderful blooming cherry trees that adorn this avenue. Everywhere is white and pink, and the scent of the blossoms stretches along the entire street. Many loving couples are standing on the street taking selfies or getting professionally photographed, even a bridal couple is among them. I simply enjoy the beauty and the smell.

When applying this fragrance, the first thing that hits your nose is a citrusy, fruity, slightly spicy scent, with floral accords breaking through, and here the scent of cherry blossoms is clearly perceptible, always accompanied by a discreet citrus note. This then takes on a dry, powdery twist, thus becoming more mature.

The longevity and sillage are average.

Here we have a fragrance from the Italian house Acqua di Parma that is truly unisex and can be worn by both ladies and gentlemen. Since it is quite a mature scent, I would say it is suitable for ages 21 and up. This perfume can be well executed. The scent certainly has its greatest radiance on warm and hot days, but can also be worn in colder weather. During the day, it is a nice companion at university, in the office, during lunch, on a client visit, in a café, or even while exercising. For the evening, I see it more for a date or a social evening with friends. In a bar, a pub, a club, or other events, however, it is not really suitable as it is quite a delicate scent.

Anyone who enjoys an initially citrusy, fruity, slightly spicy scent that then becomes floral, dry, powdery, and is accompanied by a discreet citrus twist should take a look at this one.

Acqua di Parma have struck gold with this one, its the same type of fragrance as fico di amalfi but better. Easily one of their best ones.

Soft, delicate, refined pale-pink floral. Has nuances of peony and camellia, and a faint fruitiness. Very tasteful.

Fluffy cherry blossom dream with a hint of mandarin freshness and a high dose of clean musk, which unfortunately makes Sakura a bit too tame.

Fruity start, bright floral notes, but unfortunately the cherry blossom comes off like a somewhat squeaky artificial cherry lollipop. Little longevity.

I always miss the local cherry blossom festival anyway. With Sakura, I still have the cherry garden in mind. More for women.
