Buongiorno Buonanotte Acqua di Parma 2026

Acqua di Parma represents for me the Italian way of life, Mediterranean elegance, and understatement. In fact, the names of the fragrances usually hit the mark, and overall, AdP often matches my taste with their citrusy and unsweetened fresh-green scents. Accordingly, my anticipation for the new Buongiorno Buonanotte was quite high. Particularly the description on the AdP website made me really curious: "inspired by the first light of morning when night yields to dawn...the warmth of shared moments and the softness of intimacy" ...that really gets the imagination going.
Well, what can I say...I must have gotten lost in the cinema.

The top note does not start off fresh or inviting. No, I only perceive a biting mixture of burnt pepper and plastic. Spicy, but in a clumsy, almost aggressive way. Overall, the opening is unharmonious and absolutely unsuccessful. What a shame.

Fortunately, after about ten minutes, things calm down a bit. The plastic recedes significantly. Instead, salt, sandalwood, and still a hefty dose of pepper move to the forefront, accompanied by a hint of cumin.

As the scent develops, it becomes increasingly smoother and does indeed take a slight turn towards citrus, but that's just not enough. Not much else happens, with no trace of iris or musk in sight.

Overall, a bitter disappointment. Perhaps I had too many specific false ideas and overall too high expectations, but this scent has absolutely nothing in common with its name, the OG DNA, and the description: I was expecting a citrus-floral-airy composition, instead, you get a synthetic-peppery phantasmagoria.

The longevity is fine, the sillage as well.

Anyone looking for a flanker or even a distant relative of the wonderful Buongiorno will probably be bitterly disappointed. For the current price of 270€, what Acqua di Parma has delivered here is quite off the mark.
