Masterful twist

Think of JPG Le Male Elixir Absolu, less emphasis on the plum with a twist containing the nutty, ambery, vanillic sweetness from Stronger with you Intensely, the leather, cardamom, patchouli from Memo’s African Leather, and added spiciness from Hypnotizing Fire… warm, spicy, seductive, sexy, classy.. dress it up, and your girl will dress you down type of scent… I’m not one to hype fragances, this sounds like A LOT to fit into one fragance but it feels so right, it feels so well blended, so luxurious… deserves your attention at the bare minimum. Just copped, so will be updating ya’ll with details on, just gotta keep testing:

projection: strong first 2 1/2 hrs, intimate after

sillage: decent, not impressive

longevity: 6-8hrs

This is what JPG Le Male Elixir should’ve been out the gate. Worn this to a re-meet with someone and (in the midst of it, she kept going for the neck really taking in the fragance) my apologies all, this is just me trying to say it is a an absolute banger but BEWARE, it is redundant if you already own JPG Le Male Elixir, Le Parfum, Absolu or any dupes/inspired by’s of these.

No real alternative to JPG Le Mâle Elixir Absolu

When I heard that the 9pm Elixir was supposed to be a dupe for Le Mâle Elixir Absolu, I pricked up my ears.
I had only recently tested the original and was absolutely thrilled.
But can an inexpensive alternative really keep up?

I unpacked the perfume with high expectations and sprayed it on immediately.
Disappointment followed on the heels.
The opening really has nothing in common with the JPG.
What I smelled instead was an intense and unpleasant combination of cardamom, elemi resin and nutmeg.
It was one of the most unpleasant openings I've smelled recently: spicy, resinous, synthetic and anything but appealing.

Unfortunately, it didn't get much better in the DD.
Although the lavender lends the fragrance a masculine freshness, the spicy notes from the opening remain dominant.
The fragrance becomes a little softer, but the lavender, which strangely smells minty, and the lingering unpleasant spiciness just don't appeal to me at all.

The listed leather note is barely perceptible, which is surprising as leather is often very present in perfumes.

Towards the end, labdanum and vanilla join in.
The fragrance loses some of its spiciness and becomes subtly sweet.
The synthetic note of the opening is weakened, but cardamom and elemi resin are still prominent.
Even towards the end, I find that Afnan is an independent fragrance that doesn't remind me of JPG in the slightest.
It is a rather dark, resinous and spicy fragrance that is pleasantly sweet.

In terms of performance, the perfume did not convince me either.
I perceive it well in the first hour, but after that the radiance seems to diminish considerably.
I am either becoming fragrance-blind or the radiance is simply not the best.
The longevity of about 7 hours is acceptable.

In my opinion, this is not a unisex fragrance, but rather a rather masculine perfume (M80%/20%W) that is suitable for the colder days.

Conclusion: In my opinion, the 9PM Elixir cannot hold a candle to the original.
The JPG is of a higher quality, performs better and simply smells more appealing to the masses.
Anyone looking for a real alternative will not be happy with this fragrance.
