Trend Summer 2025
Fresh, bright, and pure like the sea on a calm summer day, this fragrance is neither an imitation nor a reproduction of the famous Pacific Chill. Rather, it follows in its path, sharing a number of similar notes and a refreshing atmosphere, yet it remains an independent fragrance created by one of the most renowned perfumers, Lucas Sieuzac, who has created many famous fragrances.

• (Top Notes): The most prominent notes are blackcurrant, orange, mint, and grapefruit. These notes provide a fresh and lively start with a citrusy, fruity, and lightly herbal touch, creating a bright and energetic first impression.
• (Middle Notes): The most prominent notes are basil and apricot. Here, the fragrance transforms into an elegant, nature-inspired blend, with a warm floral touch and a soft, fruity flavor.
• (Base Notes): The most prominent notes are ambrette and amber wood. The base adds a sweet and warm depth.

This versatile fragrance (for both sexes) combines vibrant, citrusy notes for men (such as mint and grapefruit) with floral, fruity notes for women (such as rose and apricot). However, it leans on the masculine side.

The fragrance has a medium sillage with a noticeable presence for 3-4 hours. Being an Extrait de Parfum (high concentration), it lasts on clothes for 6 hours.

- Features:
• Freshness: Perfect for summer and spring thanks to mint and grapefruit.
• Design: The bottle and packaging are elegant and attractive.

- Cons:
• Relatively limited longevity: Doesn't last all day.
• Medium sillage: Not strong enough to make an impression in crowded places.
• A sharp, somewhat noticeable synthetic scent at the top that can be overcome by aging the fragrance for two weeks before use.

I rate it about 7.5/10

Mediterranean Vibe
I’ve tried many fruity aromatic fragrances this year, but Rare Reef really stands out. At first spray, it reminds me of LV's Pacific Chill, yet it brings its own twist... noticeably fruitier, with a fresh green edge, and just a touch more masculine. Frankly, I prefer it to the OG...it feels brighter and more modern.

You’ll also pick up a distinctly Mediterranean vibe...those sun‑ripened figs, citrus groves, and green basil leaves that call to mind a warm coastal evening in Spain. Despite its summer‑fresh character, the blend of crisp citrus, herbs, and a warm woody-amber base gives it enough depth to wear almost all year round when you want a clean, uplifting scent.

Performance is solid: expect between 7 to 9 hours of noticeable wear, with moderate to strong sillage and good projection for the first few hours

Best of all, you get this quality at a very affordable price...you don’t need to spend a fortune to smell this good!

For $40 it’s ok…
… but if Pacific Chill smells like this, I feel sorry for whomever paid $400+ for it. It’s a nice, sweet summertime freshie, no more, no less.

Performance is great, as with all Afnans. Loud and proud 4ft+ projection bubble that lasts 8+ hours, and leaves a direct silage trail. You can tell it’s an Afnan as far as materials/ingredients goes as well. These aren’t “top tier” spices/oils.

Not that I am complaining at all. It’s just obvious that it is a $40 scent.

I’ll wear it occasionally in the summertime. It IS overhyped. I just hope that this isn’t as accurate to the LV version as the influencers are saying though…. If LV smells like this, and it’s $400+ that is not worth the price at all….

Extrait Where?
I think this should be treated as its own scent. It’s got the same mintyness as Pacific Chill, but the resemblance pretty much stops there.

Where PC leans into a fruity apricot, Rare Reef is straight orange juice. Bursting, juicy, citrusy, and a completely different fruit profile. The drydown is not even close. Pacific Chill is fairly linear; Rare Reef morphs into something more blue gel by the end.

It's marketed as an extrait de parfum, but it sure doesn’t act like one. I know citrus scents aren’t known for lasting forever, but this behaves exactly like an EDT. The first hour has moderate projection, and I even got a compliment. But after that it falls off hard. By hour 3, it’s a skin scent at best, and completely gone soon after. Either my skin eats this like crazy or the extrait label is just marketing fluff, because I’m not seeing the "long-lasting" and "strong" perfume a lot of reviewers are voting for. I could go own about marketing and capitalism, which would probably spiral into using AI to write reviews and other such things, but I'll spare you the time.

So no, I wouldn’t call this a dupe. The only thing close is the mint, and even then, Rare Reef is far more orange-heavy and has a completely different profile. It’s not bad, but don’t buy it expecting a 1:1 Pacific Chill clone or anything that performs like an extrait.

Similar to the Pacific Chill but unique
I'm not really a fan of fresh fragrances, but the Rare Reef convinced me.
This is not a dupe.
This fragrance bears the signature of perfumer Lucas Sieuzac, who is known for fragrances such as 212 VIP Men Eau de Toilette or Jubilation 25 Woman Eau de Parfum.
However, the Afnan is still reminiscent of a well-known LV, the Pacific Chill, but is independent.

But why exactly did the Rare convince me? Quite simply, it has everything you need for the warm temperatures.
Fruity, fresh and slightly shower gel-like, but in a refreshing way.
Fortunately not like a typical shower gel, because I find that terrible.

The opening is super citrusy, the first thing I notice is the orange, which smells really authentic.
What I like is that the opening doesn't smell alcoholic, you rarely get that in a Cheapie.
A short time later, I smell the grapefruit.
I don't really like grapefruit in perfumes because it often smells bitter, but here it's so fresh and delicious that it almost smells like a refreshing, cold lemonade to me.

Mint and a little apricot are added in the DD.
But the mint doesn't smell like chewing gum or toothpaste, it just ensures that the fragrance retains its freshness and doesn't drift too much into sweetness due to all the fruity notes.

I don't notice rose, dates, basil or fig at all.
Orange and grapefruit are the most prominent notes until the end, accompanied by mint and peach.

About the performance:
The longevity on my skin was 11-12 hours, no wonder it is an extrait de parfum with a fragrance oil content of 20%.
The radiance and sillage, on the other hand, are rather moderate, which is good if you want to work indoors and smell good, so you don't get on anyone's nerves.

Unisex? I think it will be too masculine for most women (M80%/20%W).

Conclusion: great fragrance for the summer, I rarely advise buying a fragrance blind, but I am firmly convinced that almost everyone should like Afnan.
I will be wearing it a lot this summer and can only recommend it to everyone.

In the same vein of Pacific Chill and Pinnace, fruity and last pretty long. Smells good in the air, terribly chemical up close.

Very easy to wear, everyone likes it without exception, isn't very complex, and for a summer fragrance performance is a beast
