A Soft Aromatic Fougere with Classic Style
It is a Nice Scent , Fresh, Spicy, Airy and Woody. I bought it blind-buy after reading the positive comments and watched reviews on YouTube. It opens up with slightly soapy fresh spicy, citrusy and spices notes in the background then dry down is warm spicy and woody. I don't get The Leather note in this perfume. It is perfect for the spring and fall , I really enjoy it and I like Aigner Pour Homme. The Art of bottle design is very wonderful, It is Similar to the Logo of Etienne Aigner. Longevity is Average. This review is based on the new reformulation bottle and Made in Spain.

Misstep in the Spice Rack
The underlying idea behind the fragrance is actually very classic and appealing: citrus and pepper. They go well together, both in scents and in the kitchen. It's no coincidence that lemon pepper is often available as a ready-to-use spice blend.

Unfortunately, the same cardinal mistake has been made here that is often experienced in cooking: the aromas are placed in context with other ingredients that simply do not want to match. As a result, Aigner pour Homme unfortunately comes across as completely overloaded. The beautiful freshness of the citrus pepper is overwhelmed by the combination with the rather oriental cardamom-nutmeg duet. Both are very distinct and beautiful scent pairs on their own. However, in combination, it just doesn’t work for my nose at all. It’s as if a novice cook has wildly grabbed from the spice rack. Such a thing can lead to exciting dishes. Or not. Additionally, the other complementary notes come across like a kind of flavor enhancer, making the fragrance not only overloaded but also hopelessly over-seasoned. This olfactory glutamate would indeed benefit longevity and sillage, if it weren’t so unharmoniously put together.

Perhaps Aigner pour Homme doesn’t seem so scratchy or unpleasant when considered on its own. However, when compared to other fragrances in the same vein, the qualitative differences in the composition become quite obvious. There are, of course, plenty of examples of how it can be done better. I would particularly point to "Honos," even if (and perhaps precisely because) it is difficult to compare. The same basic idea of citrus and pepper, which is very common for men's fragrances, is arranged and seasoned completely differently there. Of course, I don’t want to compare apples to oranges. But in terms of aroma composition and harmonies, this can serve as a vivid positive example.

In short: This Aigner is unfortunately an absolute misstep for me, whether in the spice rack or the perfume shelf.

Pepper - that's pepper!
I have the "problem" that scents develop completely differently on my skin than on a test strip. So far, it has mostly been the case that I was simply a bit quicker than the paper. I explained this to myself by saying that the more volatile top notes don't dissipate as quickly on the cold paper as they do on the skin, which is significantly warmer.

But then Aigner pour Homme comes along and makes my explanation crumble like a house of cards. In the top note, I immediately perceive a fruit that is not the venerable and often overused bergamot. Something different, something good. It should be grapefruit. That probably fits, I haven't smelled grapefruit in ages. On the paper, the scent continues like this forever, which isn't bad at all. A slight hint of spice comes through, but the fruit still dominates.

On my skin, however, the scent transforms very quickly. Suddenly it smells like wood. More freshly cut than well-seasoned. Along with a strong, almost piercing pepper note. You can think I'm totally silly now, but to me it smells like someone fired a blank gun in the woods, loaded with pepper cartridges, while a few meters away trees are being felled. Somewhere far away and several minutes ago. After the bang and smoke have cleared, only the clean scent of pepper remains, wafting through the woods. It sounds strange in this imagery, but in reality it smells really, really great.

At some point, the pepper is supposedly supposed to give way to an earthy musk note, but that doesn't seem to be happening for me. Maybe I should wait a bit longer? To be honest, I'm not really that keen on it because I find the slightly piercing pepper note absolutely brilliant. And it has already lost some of its initial aggressiveness. It simply smells incredibly delicious! Sophisticated but by no means arrogant or even ostentatious. It fits every season and every occasion, except perhaps for sports.

Even though everyone perceives this scent a bit differently and prefers to sniff out various notes - ApH absolutely deserves a chance and will probably not truly disappoint anyone. The biggest problem with this scent: It is regularly sold at a loss at Rossmann, which likely blocks its access to certain buyer groups. With a different label, double the list price, and only offered in luxury perfumeries, it would certainly convince customers who today dismiss it with a mocking "Puh."

Success through Penetrance?
Some men may have had success with the opposite sex through penetrance; nice!

However, penetrance can also backfire. At first, I found AIGNER POUR HOMME different because it is so overloaded and super-sentimental. Now my son uses it and likes it. I can smell it as soon as he has been in the hallway, in the living room, in his room, when waking him up. The stuff sticks like the devil. Yesterday, Junior took a shower; Aigner remained. Incredible! ...Pure soap and root brush?

At least the EDT is so intensely long-lasting that it comes off as too penetrating. And that is slowly getting on my nerves.

Junior insisted he only put on a spritz - I believe him.

Every day to besiege and charm the girl of his heart may work from time to time. But only from time to time.

What might be going through the girl's mind? From flattered to: "He's getting on my nerves!"

(sorry for the hetero writing - reminds me of a certain case...)

Allrounder with a Slightly Exotic Flair
The scent begins fresh and fruity: grapefruit and yuzu are clearly noticeable, but then fade quite quickly. After that, a very pleasant, warm woody aroma with a slightly oriental or exotic note sets in, which then remains stable. Sandalwood, cedar, and spices are present, while I notice less of the pepper and leather.
Due to its universal character, the scent can be worn on any occasion.
A little tip at the end: You can occasionally find it very cheaply at Rossmann :-)

The citrus fruits open beautifully and make way for warm spices.
Leather and pleasantly ambered.
Munich charm. *

A solid men's fragrance that, apart from a sour start, has a pleasantly woody-spicy scent. But I miss that certain kick. Always works.

Warm, woody, fruity freshness with a lot of spice. Cardamom is prominent, paired with grapefruit - great. Slightly synthetic? - doesn't bother me.

Prominent pepper, citrus, fruit, spice (nutmeg), wood, and leather accents. A slightly masculine-bitter base note; not a cuddly scent but also °°°

We met at Rossmann,
you cheap, I willing,
but at home then,
you seemed too quirky for me!
Caution, penetrating. Not much at 0°C.

Absurd... I left a test strip of it on my desk for 2 days, and 4 DAYS later my desk still smells like it...

As expected from Aigner, a down-to-earth, classically inspired scent. Citrusy-peppery and later a bit leathery-woody.

I have to defend this one:
...sure, it’s a bit over the top; BUT it has an extremely recognizable scent.
