Strong, accurate, smoke blend with spices

My first sampling from the house of Akro is Smoke, which frankly nails the concept better than I possible could’ve expected in terms of accuracy, smelling of an ensemble of different smoke smells, including cigarette, cigar, and charcoal/barbecue, coming off somehow both appetizing and evocative of an upcoming meal but also a lot of people smoking in my vicinity, which can be a bit off-putting. It’s certainly smoky, but also spicy and woody. It’s fairly dense and makes a very strong impression but there’s enough space and air in the fragrance to appreciate some of its nuance; it’s not strictly a cloud of smoke but more of very strong wafts of smoke. Other notable contributors are cade, a favorite type of juniper, the use of which in Imaginary Authors A City on Fire adds to its spicy side, and a mix of tonka and benzoin that do slightly round things out with a bit of sweetness.

As a first impression of the house, even though I’m not in love with the fragrance, Smoke hopefully provides a good idea of the audacity and artistry of its founder, Olivier Cresp, and the concepts within it, as I’m looking forward to trying other Akro entries, especially Awake.

Smoke performs very well, with very loud projection in the opening hours and strong longevity thereafter. Akro’s fragrances seem to be sold exclusively in the US via Luckyscent, with each fragrance in their collection being sold for $160 for 100ml, very reasonable pricing.

One of my perfume obsessions as of late is Akro Fragrances Smoke. Smoke | Powerhouse form Akro Fragrances

Basically it smells exactly how its named. If you love incense resinous scents, Smoke is great for you. ⁣

It’s a rich and opulent tobacco and benzoin bomb that laches onto your skin. It would make you smell like if you spent a night in a really sophisticated jazz bar where people were smoking some high quality cigars. ⁣

The smoke in this scent is very raw and ashy (in a good way) and its reminiscent of a campfire smoke which when mixed by tonka bean really makes the scent wearable and cozy ????⁣

Smoke is a powerhouse. Its the note of Smoke beautifully blended with tobacco, cade oil & the sweetness of Tonka. ⁣
If you are into smokey/ incense scents, this won't disappoint you!

Smoke-Inspired Fragrance

I got the discovery kit from this house, it came with 6 samples. As it said in the description, six provocative fragrances. Addictions turned into perfume.

Smoke represents cigarettes.

Smoke is a fragrance that has been crafted to replicate the first drag of a cigarette - a moment that is both fleeting and euphoric. The scent has been designed to take you on a journey that mimics the sensory experience of smoking a cigarette. As you apply the fragrance, you are met with an intense and almost overpowering aroma of tobacco, ash, and smoke. This initial burst of scent is reminiscent of sitting in a smoky room, but it is a sensation which doesn't bother me because I'm used to it.

As the fragrance evolves, it transitions into a more nuanced and refined scent. The smokiness fades, and a blend of tonka and tobacco becomes more prominent. This combination creates a sweet, yet still distinctly tobacco scent, reminiscent of flavored tobaccos. For a few moments it reminded me of Pure Havana a little bit, a scent that also features tobacco notes, although Smoke has its unique character and identity.

To the soundtrack of Kacy Hill

The opening smells a lot like mosquito spray around a campfire with a dash of alcohol. Very strange and nothing like cigarettes. In fact I'd say Smoke's whole longevity barely smells like a cigarette at all. Clove is huge to me.
Once it's dry it reminds me of a crisp October morning in my grandma's apple themed kitchen - it's comforting and nostalgic. I could easily see this being a fragrance that was huge in the 80s, there's a sort of seductive and mysterious allure to it. This would be Faye Valentine's signature scent from Cowboy Bebop.

As far as cigarettes, if you're looking for something that smells like a Las Vegas casino where ash is inescapable this isn't that. But if any of you know something with that quality let me know!
