Very nice fresh pina coloda, green tropical holiday mix

Akro Rise is a 2023 release and a very pleasant tropical vacation/holiday-inspired blend featuring a pina colada prominence of pineapple and coconut water over a floral bed, with a sort of dewy, green quality throughout that makes it seem quite natural, a sort of enhanced pleasantness by the whole blend not feeling too forced or synthetic or excessive in any particular way, Overall, a really nice perfume that does effectively conjure a tropical escape—it’s transportive and fun, and I could very easily see myself wearing it on such an occasion, or pretty much any time, really.

Rise feels like a logical companion to other great recent tropical blends, like Day Three Fragrances Bani and RDZ Parfums El Coqui. It performs decently well, also, certainly above average for a more warm-weather-leaning type of blend.

Akro is now sold through a number of US retailers, which now recently includes Perfumology, at pricing that I’ve deemed fairly reasonable for years, now $185 for 100ml in EDP concentration, only up slightly from $160 a few years back.

Great fresh coconut water with Piña Colada and Tiare

Currently, I have started testing my Akro Discovery Set and am working my way through the range. It's a brand I've been eyeing for a long time and find interesting with these cool themes. Price-wise, these fragrances are available at affordable niche prices: 30ml for €80, 100ml for €160, with some sites offering discounts. I also think it's cool that these short names mostly fit the theme. With Rise, you get a fantastic tropical cocktail scent that already embodies the Piña Colada theme. As we are currently just before summer, it's a great choice to get a wonderful fragrance with good-vibes. This coconut DNA has a relatively heavy stand here, which is probably reflected in this review. From the scent DNA, it’s also not a fragrance that everyone will like. Personally, I enjoy these wonderful tropical vibes that fit perfectly into the summery everyday life and don’t lean too much into the Piña Colada direction. There are a few small cocktail hints present, but it remains suitable for everyday wear and can be worn even in hot temperatures.

The bottles are uniform and rather simple. The brand Akro is displayed in wild modern lettering, and this casual appearance fits the fragrances. The stylish boxes also look quite laid-back. You get stylish unisex fragrances, with this Rise seemingly appealing more to women. However, anyone who likes tropical scents and can handle Tiare can wear this without any problems.
From the scent, perfumer Olivier Cresp has created a wonderful work that captures the spirit of the times beautifully. This gentleman already makes great fresh creations for summer in many price ranges. I like his works. Here, Rise starts with a lot of fresh coconut water. A wonderful refreshing note with this typical exotic vibe. There’s also a lightly peppery spice that gives the top note some edge. Quickly, the Piña Colada comes in. So now it’s pineapple & coconut, without that boozy note from rum. Plus, a creamy scent like you know from this cocktail. Also, this wonderful tropical note of floral Tiare becomes more and more prominent after 2-3 hours, making this fragrance very creamy and summery-floral. In the base, there's nice sandalwood, and this great creamy-exotic creation is complete. The last part of this scent slightly reminds me of the well-known DNA of Vanilla Vibes & Beach Walk. A successful alternative, at least in the base. I find the later hours extremely pleasing and significantly softer than this coconut water top note.
I find the performance really good. I don’t understand the rating just above 6 regarding longevity. Presumably, this fragrance didn’t appeal to some people, and they just entered something random. You often experience this with fragrances that score moderately. Test on the wrist: After 10 hours, still very noticeable, and the sillage is convincing. Easily wearable in everyday life or on sunny days and into the evening. Uncomplicated.

Overall, a great exotic tropical scent with coconut water, coconut, a bit of pineapple, and a wonderful creamy Tiare note. I can recommend it.
