Gem for introverts ;)
Ink stole my heart on the first acounter. I had a vision of sniffing freshly written Japanese calligraphy. It´s sensitive, it´s subtle in a really unique way. I have a sweet spot for a birch and vetiver is my comfort zone. But the result - oh wowww - it´s really inky with a velvety feeling of a good paper.

Jasmin adds some freshness, almost a metallic tone. But just enough to cool down the cozyness, maiking it modern and versatile.

It´s tender and sexy as a "Pillow Book" by Peter Greenaway.

This is a real gem for introverts.

Dark, vetiver-led, quite raw, a little earthy
Ink is the most recent release (2022) from Akro as of today, similarly one-word-named and texturally interesting to some of the prior entries. It’s dark, raw, and has the signature (and self-described) blend of vetiver, tar, and birch that, to me, excellently captures the concept of ink. I think the vetiver is the single biggest standout of the three, fostering a dirtiness that perhaps slightly exceeds most ink that I’ve smelled, and in that respect it does lean somewhat toward a Lalique Encre Noire vibe, albeit without some of the ashy qualities of vetiver, but there’s definitely an overlap.

Overall, I think it’s well-done, high-performing, and, like most of the Akro line, pretty reasonable in terms of niche pricing, at $185 for 100ml, sold by Luckyscent and another US-based boutique or too, I believe, in addition to the house site.

..is there something beyond the darkness?
New addiction has kicked in!

That smell of fresh ink on your body and the sensation of getting a new tattoo is what Olivier Cresp succesfully emphasized here, but there's even more than that!

This fragrance is so vivid and realistic that instantly brought me back to the time of my first visit to the tattoo parlour in my hometown 17 years ago. The feeling, the surrounding, sketches, dimmed light, hot girl that worked there which was too old for me at that time-forbidden fruit, the thrill. I was just a kid, playing in a hardcore band, living the dream by touring non stop - everything seemed possible back then.

INK kicked me right in the feels I am telling you. The fragrance itself is definitely dark. When I first tried it, there was one exact fragrance that immediately crossed my mind and that was Encre Noire by Nathalie Lorson. I am not saying they are alike but they are definitely in the same category of aformentioned darkness to my nose which is good because now there is two fragrances in the world that make this category, at least in my book even if the only ingredient connecting these two is vetiver one of Mr. Cresp favorite notes.

Very thick fragrance but really easy to wear, it is a complex but not complicated, dense but it won't choke you out while wearing it. Mr. Cresp amplified the dark side of every ingredient he used here, almost to the point of raising some philosophical/poetical questions, like "is there something beyond the darkness?". Floral aspect of Jasmine is burried under the thick layer of ink molecule, black tar, cade oil and kinda sterile, medicinal vetiver fraction - art in a bottle.

Wearing this fragrance gives me excitement, nostalgia and at the same time reminds me of some of the best works from Edgar Allan Poe.

So on that note.

"Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before." - Edgar Allan Poe

At first it surprised me with its metallic façade. Soon to turn into a reminiscence of a blacksmith working on a warm autumn day.

It does give you an inky feeling while also smelling kind of industrial and floral at the same time. It's an odd composition to wear.

Metallic - floral scent which, in fact, reminds me of paper and typing machine . Very nice

A slightly earthy and smooth, musky leathery-woody Fall fragrance, with a cold and metallic rubbery-smoky opening. Very masculine.
