True to the name!

I randomly added this to a Lucky Scent samples order and I am so happy I did. It is fresh and lovely! I never would have normally picked this for myself based on the description, and now I’m rethinking my entire fragrance collection.

My only complaint is that it wore off so fast. Or I went nose blind. Or my allergies are just messing with me.

Also still no idea what an ambrette seed is or what it smells like, but I’m guessing that’s the note I really loved at first.

Nice raspberry-led freshie, fairly light and easygoing

Sampling the most recent release from Akro Fragrances, Smile, from earlier this year, another follow-up freshie to Rise, and a bright fruity floral mix, primarily involving raspberry, bergamot, sage, and musk, though it comes off a little rosy, too. I think it’s perfectly pleasant but does not make quite as much of an impression as Rise, but it does add some diversity to the catalogue as there’s not quite a light fruity fresh option like this in it, otherwise. Certainly worth checking out, quite enjoyable, but not quite as outstanding as a handful of the house’s other fragrances, especially Awake and Bake, my two favorites of the house.

As with the rest of the catalogue, Smile is priced at $180 for 100ml, under the $2/ml mark and therefore very reasonable in the current market, I generally say, and it’s sold on the house site as well as via US retailers like Perfumology.

Short lived smile

Smiling is so good for us so, even a brief one is worth it. However, if you want to keep an Akro Smile on your face, you will need to refresh your application frequently. Smile has a sparkling bergamot open with low silage and projection (to be expected with a top note focused fragrance). Sadly the short lived “smile” fades quickly with the sparkle burning off in about five minutes, settling into a safe clean skin scent, unremarkable in anyway. Absolutely usable in layering and a good “refresher” to other frags with citrus tops. My sample is in my pocket and will hit the air frequently today, but a bottle will not be in my future collection.

Smells like citrus hand soap, similar longevity.

This fragrance is perfect if you’re in the mood for a bright, fresh, citrusy hand soap scent. The initial bergamot note is really pleasing, the fruity dry down is equally pleasing. The longevity is on par with a fragranced hand soap - 2 hours later, I can barely smell this on my skin.

Nothing offensive about this, but nothing exciting either. I’d never buy a bottle or even a travel spray of this for the generic scent and the performance. Would be really nice as a body wash or hand lotion.

An olfactory reminder that life can be light

It’s like a burst of fresh morning air — bergamot and sage throw you straight into a sunny countryside at dawn. Right after spraying, it feels green and slightly spicy.

Then boom, here comes the raspberry: aaahhh, so beautiful... it’s vibrant, juicy, soft, with a tiny bit of tartness — like you’re holding the real fruit right under your nose. Not jammy at all, more like it was just picked, still full of life. Underneath it all, there’s musk working like a soft veil, adding even more brightness and balance.

After an hour or two, the raspberry fades almost completely, but the citrus, sage, and musk are still going strong.

It’s happiness, it’s positivity. It’s an olfactory reminder that life can be light.
