The Softie Wooden Hammer
It has happened again: a completely new fragrance line that I really like, high-quality & wonderful from start to finish. Out of the blue, from a brand I was previously unaware of, which had been pulling the strings in the background. And it's incredibly affordable - 79€/100ml, with good longevity for an EdC. Fragrance world, how cruel you are. There are not as many days in the German summer as there are beautiful scents ;)

The collection is going to be examined in such detail... too bad summer is already over, a beautiful world tour has been created here over the 6 fragrances! This powdery, feather-light, very special cedar scent is a kind of Wonderwood light. If CdG were to launch an EdC version of their woody wonder, it would surely not be far off. Or if Gucci were to reissue their Rush For Men. Simple, but a delight for cedar fans. And iris enthusiasts. And ginger lovers. And I am all three - wow! No wonder I chose it when it came to spraying on my skin. When cedar & ginger are interpreted so transparently, it almost reminds one of tea. But for that, the brand even has its own tea fragrance, with an Indian touch.

Bottle: simple, but captures the woody essence of the matter.
Sillage: delicate, but definitely more special than the usual summer citrus!
Longevity: could also be an EdT - 6-7 hours easy!

Conclusion: the softest wood of summer & a wonderful companion for gray summer days like today!

The Cedars of the Lebanon Mountains
So, here comes a Berdoues fragrance, a brand that has stuck in my memory positively since the wonderful Assam of India. Not only because of its simple structure and the resulting authentic tea scent, but also… here it comes,… because of the great bottle with the many small, colorful, and cute elephants on it :D
Don't laugh! Just take a look at the bottle of Assam of India, and hopefully, you'll understand what I mean!

Therefore, I am currently enjoying testing this brand and hope to come across more great fragrances. Arz El-Rab doesn’t sound bad, as it is supposed to mean "The Cedars of the God's Forest," which suggests a woody scent, right? :)

So let's see if the cedars truly smell divine or if everything is just a bit exaggerated!

The Scent:
The scent starts with the indicated ginger. I can also clearly smell a lemon, which smells very authentic. Thus, the top note of the fragrance is not only herbal-bitter but also refreshing.
I almost wanted to write that the ginger has a slightly dusty and powdery scent, but I see that iris is listed in the heart note. Therefore, the scent has turned out to be quite soft. The lemon later, together with the sweet-powdery iris, almost resembles a lemon-flavored icing for a short time.
Over time, the scent becomes woodier. I don't know if it's due to the powdery notes combined with the ginger, but the scent also has a slightly oudy quality. In any case, the iris becomes a bit more noticeable later on.
The cedar really takes a while to make its presence felt. This means that the top and heart notes of this fragrance seem to last quite a long time compared to other fragrances. More than 20 to 30 minutes pass before the scent becomes noticeably woodier. Then, slowly, the distinctive cedarwood scent emerges, which, however, smells softer here compared to other fragrances, but this must be due to the mentioned gentle notes like the iris. And that’s not bad; it smells quite nice. I find the scent successful.

The Sillage and Longevity:
The fragrance does not have a very high sillage, but it is at least above average, so you don’t have to get too close. However, it loses strength quickly, and the sillage diminishes quite rapidly over time.
The longevity is also only about six hours, after which there is hardly anything left to smell.

The Bottle:
The bottle is rectangular and tall. On the back inner wall, you can see white wooden planks, which represent the woody fragrance direction and are quite nice to look at on the bottle. The label on the front only shows the name and brand, without any frills. Given that the label is quite large, it seems a bit too simple, but it matches the light background motif (those wooden planks) with its white color.
A nice bottle, although not quite as beautiful as the initially mentioned Assam of India.

Hmm, the scent is quite interesting and pleasant despite its simplicity (citrusy-herbal-woody), as I find the ginger-iris combination nice. However, I wouldn’t necessarily describe the scent as oriental.

Arz El-Rab has not become a going-out fragrance, but rather a lovely daytime scent or a fragrance for relaxation. It is almost an all-rounder, as it works well on warm days but also fits into the cooler autumn.

By the way, the fragrance is supposed to be a tribute to the Lebanon Mountains and its cedar trees. However, I don’t find it divine, but what does divine even mean here? Among us crazy people, there are thousands of beliefs and feelings… for us, Parfumo is probably a kind of paradise, right? :D
I can hear everyone saying "yes"... hey, how can one be so freaky... and I always get teased when I keep talking about Star Wars or something, tsss….!

Woody for Men
This is a fragrance that I wouldn't wear, as it is too masculine for me.

The woody note is not heavy, but for me, it is too male.

For a gentleman, however, this is a good daytime scent, suitable for the office and also compatible with leisure activities.
Even outdoors, it wouldn't be bothersome, as it is a light companion.

The ginger is bright and not too sharp, as the iris gently softens it.
For some ladies, it might also be the right choice if they prefer the more austere direction.
Therefore, I agree with the unisex classification.

I would only gift El Rab to men, and even then, only to the distinctly male faction.

In the end, I miss a few sweeter molecules - although it is a quite acceptable scent.

A Sunday Scent
Cologne Grand Cru - Arz El-Rab begins very refreshingly fresh - lemony, but also sweet.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to our dear perfume "Verbena" for the sample, which gave me the opportunity to test this fragrance.

The Chinese ginger also has very clear attributes, so it does not come across as muddled or musty, which ginger in high concentration is certainly capable of.

It is believed that the ginger, along with its peel, was drizzled into the creation.

The top note can be sniffed for about 20 minutes on my skin before the heart note takes over.

A bright, friendly Moroccan iris can be detected, which has very beautiful powdery qualities.

And yet it also has a certain soft, lovely depth that captivates you and suggests:

Today I'm having a "lazy day" and staying in bed, simply enjoying my day off :-)

Even in the heart note, the fragrance has retained its certain clarity, which is simply extremely pleasant; this clarity is by no means soapy or musky, rather it is a subtle clarity.

This constellation can be detected for a good 5 hours on my skin before the base asserts itself.

And this becomes very velvety - woody thanks to the Virginian cedar, with the woodiness being more in the background.

The base has something very engaging, almost soothing, and you simply feel wonderfully comfortable with the fragrance.

Overall, the scent can be detected for 7 hours on my skin.

The sillage is moderate from the start, so you are only noticed when someone is sitting right next to you, which I find correctly designed for this "Sunday charmer."

Balanced Ginger Scent with Minimal H/S
Truly herb authentic ginger at the beginning, such a greenish-spicy sharpness from the well-known root I have never experienced, it really burns lightly in the nose, has this phaser-like quality.
The scent is absorbed by my skin very quickly, you can really see how the spot is almost completely dry after just 1-2 minutes despite several sprays.

Accordingly, the ginger itself becomes very dry quite quickly, resembling long-stored, dried ginger slices, thin, slightly sour, no longer that sharp, freshly grated quality after 5-10 minutes.

After 15-20 minutes, the first hints of at least a slowly creeping iris appear, the clear violet notes complement the green ginger nicely, creating a harmonious transition or interplay.
Unfortunately, it is already very close to the skin after 10-15 minutes, one of the smallest sillage I have experienced, very withdrawn.

Overall, quite nicely composed, but extremely thin, really just a Cologne. After 1.5-2 hours, you can almost forget it. The woody notes of the base, which some seem to see as central here, do not come out for me at all, yes, a certain elegant sweet-woody background note is there after 45-60 minutes, but extremely delicate, ginger and iris remain clear main notes.

Ginger at its best. Wood & Iris round it off beautifully with a powdery touch. It also has a slightly herbaceous-masculine vibe.

Zesty start with more lemon than ginger. Develops into a very dry cedar scent, with a masculine tendency. Herbal + slightly powdery.

Dry woody scent.
The ginger adds a nice sharp citrus note - making it unisex; but leans more masculine.
Uncomplicated.
