Ten Tame Lemons
Hello Parfumo! Haven't been here in a while. :) Nice to see everything is still standing. Today I'm testing a new lemon on the German market, namely this one. A lot of groundwork has already been done by the nice Bertel in the comment below, whose sample was passed on to me. Thank you, Bertel! It arrived safely! Just tore open the envelope

What reveals itself is the lemon. It is on my skin and, for my feeling, not quite as laughing and plump as Bertel notes for himself. It seems quite authentic to me, it has certainly caught some sun. But I miss something wild about it. For me, it is more of a civilized perfume lemon than a freshly cut one in front of my nose. It sparkles gently, smiles with Mediterranean charm, but an explosion of untamed acidity has not reached my nose. I find this unfortunate, as this scent does not know how to present any further attractions. I love lemon scents that really only contain lemon, but then it has to be truly present and not so half-hearted, as I experience it here. Perhaps there are also a few too many flowers mixed in. They are not listed in the pyramid, but they are definitely there in the background and give a lovely shading that makes the scent feel completely too drowsy for me. The cedar is nice, very atmospherically integrated, and lasts quite a while on me. It’s not bad, this Sicilian refreshment, but it’s not quite my style. Conclusion: Too tame! Still, it could definitely be interesting for some of you. Give it a try! I happen to have a sample lying around here... :)

Sicilia Insula est
So began my first Latin book, which I had awaited with great anticipation.

I lovingly stroked the pages of the book, as a new language has always been a new horizon for me.

And my excitement did not betray me, as this strangely unpopular subject perfectly matched my taste.

I would have preferred Italian, but unfortunately, that was not offered.
However, with Latin, one can also get by in my beloved Italy - at least in pharmacies.

I enjoyed traveling to Sicily and Calabria - and the aroma of both regions is skillfully captured in this Berdoues.

I think of the lemon - and orange trees that surround the amphitheater in Syracuse, where standing in the middle, I felt like an ancient tragic heroine.

But "tragic" is not the feeling that arises within me - rather, it is buoyant and cheerful.
The citrus notes are pleasantly invigorating and not sour - and nicely transparent.
The cedar adds a stabilizing and noble touch - and vetiver grounds the light fragrance casually and effortlessly.

Sicilia awakens the senses, makes one want to move - but rather invites to dance than to hurry.

I feel like rummaging through my old Latin book - and continuing to enjoy Italian moments.

short-lived, but beautiful!
This lemon is pure delight: refreshing, full of aroma, and very juicy.
Every slice, every piece of this fruit ignites a little fireworks of flavor - just like "Collection Grand Crus - Scorza di Sicilia"!

There are types of lemons that I enjoy eating fresh as fruit; however, I usually picked them right from the tree on site.
This type of lemon must have left its unique summer magic in this fragrance composition.
Nothing scratches or bites here; everything is round and harmonious - a pleasure for the senses.
Virginian cedar, another component of this joy-bringer, comes from the Juniperus family; thus, it is related to juniper.
Perhaps this explains the affinity for lemon here - they like each other without wanting to overshadow one another.
(And, to preempt any possible inquiries: No, Meggi! This fragrance composition is far too precious for marinating!)
Vetiver also gives this fragrance creation a touch of earthiness; however, the airy lightness prevails!

"Scorza di Sicilia" is a light-footed yet very expressive fragrance being; it swirls sprightly and extremely gracefully.
Unfortunately, it is also very, very shy and therefore soon on the run.
What a pity, I would have liked to have this "lemon butterfly" around me a little longer.
A small consolation remains, though: this morning I discovered a fine hint of this wonderful lemon in the crook of my elbow - thank you!

We will be able to extend our acquaintance: it is a 10 ml decant and it will stay with me.
So this will surely be a lovely summer filled with the scent of lemon!
I am looking forward to it.

Lemon Grand Cru
This will probably be a rather short comment (for my standards) on a Cologne that rightly bears its designation and doesn't really linger...

"Scorza di Sicilia," another fragrance from the "Cologne Grand Cru" line by Berdoues, opens beautifully with a truly "fresh" (even though I hate this inflationary term, it fits here), full-bodied, radiant-bright-fruity lemon accord. One feels the cliché of "sun-ripened fruits" fulfilled here; the note shines juicy and smiles at us - lovely!

With this accord, "Scorza di Sicilia" has already told us most of its story, as this citrus note dominates the scent until its rapid fading. Sure, a woody note leaning towards cedar joins in without being overly dominant or even well-differentiated, as well as some slightly floral tones that I think I can perceive here. However, I usually don't make it to the vetiver base, as the fragrance has largely said its goodbyes by then and fades away...

Sure, a Cologne can do that, but I don't see the heaviness and opulence that I associate with the term "Grand Cru" here; there is certainly a certain fullness and density, though.

Thus, the scent leaves me feeling somewhat uninspired and "a bit underwhelmed" (is there a good German equivalent for the wonderful "slightly underwhelmed"?) - a beautifully rounded full citrus opening that embodies the "Grand Cru" theme well and works nicely in the current summer temperatures, but then somehow not much more happens... Especially in the massively overcrowded field of classic Colognes, this unfortunately feels like too little to me.

This is the scent of Sicily
I had been looking forward to the Cologne Grand Cru line for a long time because the fragrance pyramid of most of them had already appealed to me. When I was last in the perfumery, I finally had the opportunity to try a couple of fragrances from this line, including Scorza di Sicilia.

The scent starts off citrus-fresh with a very slight woody note. After about half an hour, cedar and vetiver come through, giving the fragrance, in my opinion, a rather earthy-woody note. The longevity didn't blow me away, but it's acceptable for an EDC. I find the bottle nicely designed, similar to the others, featuring citrus fruits that represent the scent quite well. The skin compatibility was good; I didn't experience any allergic reactions, and since the fragrance was quite light, I also had no headaches.

Conclusion: Nice summer scent. It starts with lemon, then the woody notes come in. The longevity is okay.

Pleasantly refreshing for hot summer days, but unremarkable and too fleeting to leave a lasting impression.

Freshly lemony and woody, but definitely only for those who don’t need scents that cling like a tattoo. It unfolds charm subtly.

Toothless-tame lemon hisses gently. Enchanting two-tenths of a second adorned with citrus freshness. Disappears too quickly again.....

Natural, soft-citrusy notes on a familiar but pleasantly high-quality synthetic base (probably decent Ambroxan). Very nice!

Summery Mediterranean impression that unfortunately only represents a short trip. Lemon and cedar harmonize with vetiver, but are fleeting.
