Smelling in the throat?
Interesting scent - it has a lot on cough lozenge (that would be the eucalyptus), but I also seem to smell cloves (which are not in there). The cardamom gives it a kick, there is teeny bit of sweetness from the magnolia.
Now I might might be crazy but hear me out here - i feel like you smell this scent mostly at the 'back' of the nose, like on the border of the throat. Or is this something weird that is happening because of the association with the cough lozenge?
I don't think I'd be inclined to actually wear this around people, but I do love a good 'can't make sense of what's happening'-scent

My Journey with Big Sur Eucalyptus
#1: a menthol cigarette when it first lights up
#2: brewing tea in the woods
#3: sleeping with a rip in your tent

Do I like this scent? Yes
Do I want to smell like it? Yes
Another sample/travel size worthy? Yes
Do I need a full bottle? No

The uncle who disappears for a camping trip and knows what he's doing. I've been out in Big Sur and this would've been the perfect fragrance to wear. I can retroactively assign those memories to this, right? Mint/eucalyptus is one of my favorite smells/flavors and BSE gets it right. It bursts at first spray but dries down to be more subtle. Sharp and energizing. Only reason I wouldn't buy a full bottle is because the scent doesn't really suit my day to day life.

EUCALYPTUS, ROSEMARY, AND SALTY WOODS
The opening marine notes were puzzling and a bit too fishy. Those fishy notes sit on top of the eucalyptus, which comes across very raw, like eucalyptus essential oil straight on skin. Luckily, that weird fishy note is just a top note and very fleeting.

Once it settles, the fragrance smells like rosemary mixed with eucalyptus, with a very aromatherapy-like quality. You know those inhalers you use when you’re sick, filled with eucalyptus and minty essential oils. It smells like that.

As it continues to settle, it starts to smell more like a traditional forest scent, with prominent cypress and rosemary, plus something woody and earthy, almost mulch-like. You know how wet garden mulch smells after the rain. I actually like that smell. That said, the rosemary is confusing. I’m noticing a trend where rosemary is used to imitate a green, wet, coniferous effect, and for me it just doesn’t work. Instead, it reads as kitchen herbs and a chicken roast moment. Personally, rosemary just doesn’t belong in coniferous forest scents.

I do think it captures the perfumer’s idea of recreating a eucalyptus forest by the sea, a wet coastal forest. I also pick up faint florals, magnolia I guess. It’s a unique perfume, but not worth the price to me because it’s very straightforward and essential oil-like, so it could easily be recreated for much cheaper.

In the later drydown, there’s a woody backbone, kind of like cedarwood, slightly salty but no longer fishy. It’s a transportive scent overall, and I imagine it could be nice in super hot weather.

"Fragrance Oil Therapy"
Yes, the Big Sur Eucalyptus indeed leans towards a niche cold remedy, and one really has to like eucalyptus and green scents to wear it. This fragrance is most likely not a compliment magnet, but who cares? If you enjoy natural scents (anti-perfumes) like "Ichnusa | Profumum Roma," "Acqua di Sale | Profumum Roma," or "Beach Hut Man | Amouage," you should definitely give this one a try.

And yes, I bought it (100ml) blind, which I can only advise against. In my opinion, BSE is not a classic perfume in the traditional sense and should therefore be enjoyed with caution. DS&Durga fragrances have a very distinct signature, and that’s exactly why I have come to like this brand so much. I am just starting to get to know them better. Personally, I prefer very natural and somewhat unorthodox compositions, where BSE definitely fits in without any problem.

I would never wear this fragrance on a date or important appointment, but it is perfect for muggy and even rainy summer days. It is also very well suited for hot days. Refreshing, zesty, green, and spicy-just wonderful! In the opening, I also detect a slightly unusual sharpness, while in the dry down it shows its best "green" side. Woody warm, spicy fresh-truly a poem.

Most of the time, I indulge myself with this fragrance, for example after a nice shower, sauna, or at the end of the workday. The eucalyptus is very invigorating and fresh, making it an absolute mood booster in the morning hours. It might even help with the occasional hangover to get back on track (no idea, I hardly drink alcohol). But I think everyone knows what is meant! I will definitely wear it in winter as well. On one hand, it is known to be cold season, and in my opinion, it is also the better "Nord du Nord | WienerBlut."

The Big Sur Eucalyptus is one of my absolute favorite and feel-good fragrances. It has moved in to stay. Top!

But as always, it’s a matter of taste. Less is often more. Smell you later!

Nieschiges Erkältungsbad
First association: eucalyptus cold bath. Freshened by cardamom, 1% sweetened by magnolia. Over time, I understand the "foam," that is, the salty seawater that creates bubbles on violently moving water. It tingles in the nose, like sparkling water. Additionally, it is salty, pulling in the nose typical of eucalyptus, green and slightly bitter due to the rosemary. As bathwater when you have a cold, definitely yes! In everyday life, perhaps not so much.

I wanted so badly to love this while searching for my perfect eucalyptus scent. Very medicinal, which is ok, but weird with the marine-ness.

Borrows fresh facets of Steamed Rainbow and strangely pairs it with a banana-like floral fruitiness further down, like Beach Hut Man. Nice.

Rosemary & eucalyptus. Aromatherapy-like quality. I do think it captures the perfumer’s idea of recreating a eucalyptus forest by the sea.

First a beautiful start with eucalyptus. Unfortunately, a synthetic woody-aquatic note increasingly pushes to the forefront as it develops.
