Extremely sweet and strong. not for the faint of heart. But....
The first time I put it on I was so taken aback by its sweetness even I, being the biggest fan of sweet stuff I personally know, thought I would never want to wear it. I wouldn’t even be able to give it to someone else because of that. Having a 1-2 day longevity I smelled it all over my bathroom and this way it just somehow grew on me. I use it very particularly but I still love it at this point. It’s pretty much like eating sweets with your nose: in small doses and few occasions it’s an absolute treat.

Comforting, gourmand holiday memories
I heard mixed reviews, but I'm so glad I tried this for myself. This is now one of my most favorite fragrances, and I'm wondering how many backup bottles I need because I love it that much! I get:

- 60% sugared roasted chestnuts
- 25% subtle creamy eggnog
- 10% softly sweet apple
- 5% smooth spices (candied ginger + nutmeg, no cinnamon)

Everything is blended so well, that you have to try to pick out the notes. This isn't earth-shattering, but it's not trying to be - it's a comforting, sweet gourmand that alludes to the holiday magic of "simpler" moments.

I picture Christmas Eve at home, in the coziest of pajamas. A pan of sugared, roasted chestnuts just came out of the oven - and the smell wafts across the room. You dice apples and sprinkle spices in a mixing bowl, to prepare an apple crumble.

While it bakes, you make your way to the living room by the Christmas tree - so you can stare at the soft lights, and enjoy a glass of creamy eggnog. With a Frank Sinatra holiday album playing, and the snow muffling any outside sound, all is right in the world - even if it's just this moment.

As an added bonus, this projects strongly with even just 1 spray! While it does fade over time (strongest wear: 2-3 hours), I still catch whiffs of it on my skin even 6 hours later. And for the price, I don't mind applying. I hope Demeter makes this one forever, as I plan to make this my signature/yearly Christmas scent!

P.S. I ordered from their website, so I have the most "up to date" formula (in the large square glass bottle).

an insult to New York
Wretched! A fake chestnut smell similar to Laura Mercier's Marrons Glacees, but amped way up with the fake buttery note turned to the max. And it would not leave. I sprayed something else over it & it ate through. I scrubbed it and it ate through. On the second scrubbing, I got it down to a bearable level, but 6 hours later it was still very noticeable. I almost always try things twice & give them away if they don’t suit me, but this one went straight into the garbage.

Also, in case anyone was wondering: New York does not smell like this, at Christmas or any other time. (010710)

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells,... Part 2
And yet another fragrance from Demeter that picks up on the Christmas theme and should ideally come into its own better in December than now in the height of summer, where temperatures are climbing above 30° degrees again. Well, it's a bit cooler at the moment…

It's a scent that contains many typical Christmas ingredients and is meant to capture or convey the wonderful festive atmosphere.

The fragrance:
The beginning is a bit harsh, as the spices hit you hard. But then the apple crystallizes out first, which is quite recognizable. Additionally, there's a hint of chestnut, but I find this scent a bit too weak compared to how Demeter describes it. There’s also a lot of cinnamon, which almost comes off as a bit piercing; however, the scent is slightly softened by creamy notes, which, especially in combination with the cinnamon, reminds one a bit of eggnog. This fragrance is not overly sweet, though.

The longevity is very good, as the cinnamon stays on the skin for quite a long time. The scent can definitely linger for more than 5-6 hours.
The sillage is strong and noticeable for two to three hours before it gradually weakens. I think this fragrance can leave quite a strong scent cloud, especially at the beginning.

The bottle is finally nicely designed. While it has the shape of all Demeter fragrances and is therefore nothing special, the label has been trimmed for Christmas, is mostly red, and has a few green lines. Even though the color scheme seems simple, it has been nicely done and is anyway 1000 times better than the usual ugly labels from Demeter.

Yes, the scent is nice. Although not for me personally, as I find it a bit too strong, especially the cinnamon, I know that many people like this type of fragrance. I wouldn’t wear it, but it’s definitely worth testing.

And if you can’t get a sample, I can recommend the Yankee Candle scented candles, which also offer many similar varieties, especially during the Christmas season. Just look for cinnamon/Christmas scented candles, as this scent smells just like those candles.

… now I somehow want summer to be over and Christmas to come closer…

Buttery caramel apple + spiced roasted chestnuts + a dash of creamy eggnog. Festive, really like it - perfect scent for Christmas morning.

I get neither the chestnuts nor the eggnog. More like biscuits with nutmeg and vanilla. A Bath&Body Works candle could smell like this.

I'll keep it short, it smells more like Chicken Korma from the Indian place than Christmas.
No associations with Christmas detectable.
What a shame!

If Christmas in New York smells like this, I'd rather stay at home. Quite off-putting for me!

A short, fresh hint of apple with booze, then it becomes very subtly nutty with a light spiciness. I don’t find it sweet or festive.

I've never smelled anything so disgusting before. It makes me feel nauseous and gives me a headache. Not at all!

More scent than perfume. A mix of Christmas spices in sweet syrup, sticky and stuffy. No Christmas vibe.
