layered, bold and smoky

Being the sweet type usually I was surprised, that this fragrance caught my liking. It has depth/layers, smells a little like mojito or rum, there’s even a hint of smokiness there. I don’t know how else to put it but when I wear it I feel intoxicatingly strong. Wouldn’t recommend it to people under 25 though.

It's Giving Sugarcane

Cuba isn't the most complex or wild scent Demeter offers, but it's quite nice. It's sweet like sugarcane is - it's not straight sugar, there's a floral brightness to it that feels very inviting and fresh. There's some slight leathery edge to me that rounds out the sweetness really well. I'm just sad that it doesn't last long! But perhaps longer than Thunderstorm does.

I have been to Cuba before..

..three years ago; and it smelled different..

Namely like "the past" or in other words, ancient..
The best hotel (seriously) in Havana smelled musty and was dripping with humidity. Not least because of its stuffiness but also because time there moves very, very slowly. Nevertheless, it was a very beautiful building with history. Not to mention the amazing Cadillacs!

In Varadero, it was more well-kept and the accommodation was also "newer". I was always amazed at how friendly the staff is. Everywhere!

Of course, I also indulged in the national drink Mojito + a fat cigar.
The Mojitos we are used to here bear no resemblance to the originals. The bartender was horrified when I asked for more brown sugar. As far as I can remember, there were either only 2 grains or no sugar at all. It burned like fire!

Although I am a non-smoker, I treated myself to one or two cigars. There are men everywhere offering cigars in small carrying cases; freshly rolled, slightly moist, and lit right on the spot.
I preferred it on the beach in the dark or on the hotel terrace combined with sea air and a glass of rum..

That taste of the spirit from sugarcane and dense, sweet-bitter smoke..; ..unforgettable!

Destination Collection-Cuba is sugary with a light tobacco note but by no means as prominent as I had imagined. It is sweet, minimally unisex, and close to the skin.
In summer, the delicate water evaporates quickly.
I would like to wear it in cooler temperatures; I think the scent will develop better and hopefully more profoundly. I am optimistic ;-)
