Dior Addict Eau Fraîche Dior 2014

I wore Addict Eau Fraiche on my 30th birthday (which, unfortunately, will already be 2 years ago this year *hmpf*). We celebrated in the middle of summer with the whole family at my grandparents' mountain cabin. That means we ate, sang, and joked around all day long (especially the last one when the best grandpa in the world takes the floor :D). The weather was wonderful. At almost 1500m above sea level, in the middle of nature, the sun shines down from the sky, making it a joy, but there's always a gentle breeze so it never gets too warm.

I couldn't have chosen a better fragrance for this wonderful day. It radiates a wonderful lightness, but is not sweet or overly youthful (after all, I turned 30 *anotherhmpf*).

The well-known Addict EDP can be safely left aside. This is a completely different scent. Here, you first smell quite sour bergamot. But completely different from cologne. Light yet still full-bodied. I would have guessed grapefruit due to the acidity.

The heart note is wonderfully ethereal. Nothing like Diorissimo lily of the valley. The acidity of the top note pulls back a bit. The citrus remains but makes the flowers wonderfully light. Yet still elegant. After about 2 hours, Addict Eau Fraiche in the base becomes a floral clean scent. Not soapy, nor like laundry detergent or fabric softener. Just clean like a white sheet. And that makes it even more elegant and somehow serious, almost festive. The white musk as such doesn't really come through. The scent simply changes its character. From zesty-cheerful to mature-elegant.

For being SO light, it holds quite well. You can enjoy Addict Eau Fraiche for about 4 hours. The sillage is rather subdued. More of a cologne than an EDT.

On my birthday, I wasn't really aware of how well I had chosen my perfume this time. On one hand, so light and friendly, but on the other hand serious, festive, and very fleeting. This reflects my feelings on that day very well. In my family, we are very close. We get together as often as we can and celebrate together. Loud and fun. But we are getting older, and my grandparents will soon both be over 80. One does start to wonder how often we will still be able to celebrate so carefree with them. The older I get, the more intensely I experience the moments with them and the more consciously I enjoy them. So every fun gathering has a serious undertone. And this feeling is expressed with Addict Eau Fraiche.

This scent will always remind me of a day surrounded by my dearest ones. And that is actually the most beautiful feeling a fragrance can convey.

That I would empty a bottle down to the bottom happens very rarely - especially since my husband, being a cool calculator, always advises me to buy large bottles.
He quickly has the math ready and proves to me that it's the cheapest option.
Well, that's fine by me.

In any case, my beloved Dior Addict EdT is running low and I'm pondering a refill.
But today, a sample of Addict Eau Fraiche flutters into my home, and I'm curious if it can hold its own against the EdT.

I read the little pamphlet and my eyes widen as it mentions Calabrian bergamot.
Calabria is my favorite vacation region, and I can vividly remember the aroma of the air there.

And indeed, Eau Fraiche starts with the citrusy-bitter bergamot, bright and sparkling like a spark.
I have the sunny "boot tip" in mind that I loved to wander through - always with that special fresh-bitter aroma in my nose.
The lily of the valley is white and sweetly lovely, and the freesia adds additional bright points to the radiant scent.
The musk lays softness over the lively, sparkling fragrance - as soft as the air of Southern Italy.

I consider whether I should exchange the order of the EdT for the Eau Fraiche, but the fraiche clearly fits better into summer, whereas the EdT is a year-round scent.

But summer will fortunately come again - and then the glowing Fraiche will move in with me.

In short: I love it! Well, the scent.
It is wonderfully fresh and hardly floral for me, even though it technically should be.
To me, it has raspberry notes. Unfortunately, it really doesn’t last long at all. I have been searching for a similar scent that lasts longer for a long time. But none appeals to me as much as this one... So I will continue to use up copious amounts of this.

I would never in my life be able to associate this scent with Dior when smelling it blind.
The fragrance direction is, for me, typically Chanel: floral, powdery, zesty, bright, and unsweetened.
The zesty-powdery blend makes the scent very interesting and places it somewhat away from the mainstream.

WOW, what can I say - pure freshness!! It’s like coming out of the bathroom after a fresh shower, a splash of bergamot, the freesia with a floral note, and musk, which rounds everything off sensually without being too harsh. A fragrance that is addictive and gets a perfect score from me!
