Woody, complex, enticing
It's dark in the forest. How did I get here? A few twinkling stars briefly cut through the darkness, then it's dark again. Fumbling footsteps make the branches crack dryly, will it ever rain here? Animals scurry past in the darkness, I can only feel and smell their breath. Bitter herbs under my feet. Now and again, musty feathers brush my face. A very faint glow of light in the distance, I follow it to a barely lit low earth-roofed hut, overgrown with sweet grasses and bitter herbs. A warm breeze beckons from inside and I am already sitting on old animal skins. A leathery, musty smell rises from the warmth of the seat. Cedar wood shavings crunch underfoot. Someone/something wraps a warm, soft scarf around me. Just stay here ...
-- "What are you wearing today? Smells good." -- Shock, where is that voice coming from? Where am I? Where was I? The scent is still there and accompanies me gently for 5 hours.
Oud Mukhallat is my third fragrance that I have tested from MGO Duftanker, after Sunshine Oud and Majestic Saffron, both of which I found very beautiful. After reading the reviews above, I was cautious at first, but I was pleasantly surprised.
At first it is very briefly medicinal and pungent, then immediately bitter and only very slightly animalic.
Hmmm, the pyramid says oud, oud and oud... But this fragrance is clearly not an oud bomb. I find it very interesting, but you have to smell it very carefully.
It's bitter and tart, but except at the beginning it's more gentle, with a herbaceous, woody-earthy-woody note. Later, amber and cashmere add a gentle, sweet warmth.
And despite this gentle warmth, it is dry and not sticky, it does not drip here, rather it cracks in the branches. For me, this is another very well-made composition that does not simply give itself away, but requires patience (and probably even more experience) for its complexity of the various fine shades of oud.
