Not very mysterious
Yes, I admit that with the name and this bottle design, I had imagined a picture of the mysterious woman in a deep dark blue velvet dress, cool, distant, yet so multifaceted and profound. Perhaps a little wicked, definitely opaque.
The scent - on my skin at first a surprise. What I perceive is, and I had to question my own mind, which is why I tested it multiple times at different times - paper. In an old library. Not dusty (!), but also not freshly printed. No hint of ink or printer's color, but pure, handmade, very dry paper. That's how I experienced the top note. At first. I think it is the combination of a very, very dry, almost woody chocolate and the iris that evokes such a memory. I can also perceive both components separately quite distinctly.
What follows becomes softer, more floral... a very multifaceted and sweet iris unfolds. The edges and corners of this flower have been smoothed by the vanilla and chocolate, without either of the two aromas ever stepping into the foreground. The woody undertone of the chocolate slowly reveals what lies beneath it - incense! Now everything somehow makes sense. But even this never really comes to the fore; it can only be sensed as a chocolatey accompaniment.
I confess this can indeed be called a composition. The fragrance orchestra plays a symphony that allows for no real solos, but is harmonious and pleasant enough to the nose that this is not really necessary.
Nevertheless, the heart and base are only pleasant. Harmonious, beautiful, probably extremely wearable for many women, but indeed no true revelation. The double of the blue lady who walked through the scene in my mind. Unfortunately not more, but also not less.
