Fragrance Review: Overall Rating (9.5/10)
First thoughts, it's a mature, elegant smoky-leather fragrance.

Code Elixir is a masterfully blended fragrance that balances intensity with sophistication. From the initial smoky citrus spark to the rich heart of leather and booze, every stage feels deliberate and luxurious. The drydown of powdery tonka bean adds a smooth, comforting contrast that lingers beautifully on the skin. It's bold, indulgent, and unapologetically unique—perfect for those who enjoy deep, boozy gourmand-oriental scents with a leathery edge. An easy 9.5/10 for its character, complexity, and stunning performance 10+ hours on my skin. It also projects about a 6 ft radius for the first 2 hours before it turns to a skin scent after. ( Depends on skin types)

Finally a good Elixir!
I can't hear it anymore: Elixir here, Elixir there. Now here comes the next Elixir fragrance. But luckily, I gave this one a chance and it absolutely made the most of it.

Here we have a sweet leather scent - with top quality. It starts bright and fresh with a mandarin (slightly sour, herbal, and fruity). Following that, the actual character of the perfume builds up: leather.
Leather is dominant, but so pleasantly and softly blended that even I, as a non-leather fan, am thrilled by it. The leather is enveloped in warm, soft, aromatic sweetness. Additionally, it is lightly soaked in smoky liqueur.

Finally, an Elixir that deserves its name. I find the longevity to be really good. If you're looking for a sweet leather scent that is supposed to be sexy and elegant: Please check this one out.

Whoever cracks the code opens up a new world
Armani Code, the line that for me embodies a man in a white shirt, well-groomed shoes, and a suit like no other.
What does such a man smell like? A man who is in the midst of life, having laid aside his youthful days, carrying them in his thoughts while occasionally looking back with a mischievous smile. The man he has become today is shaped by that very youth. He has reached a point in his life where he knows exactly what he wants.
Masculine, self-assured, well-groomed, powerful, and with an inner calm that radiates to everyone around him.
This is Armani Code Elixir.

But let's start from the beginning.
I sprayed this scent expecting "Armani Code" and was immediately disappointed. "No," was my first thought about this fragrance. "This won't be mine, what have they done to this beautiful Code DNA?"
A bit disheartened, I then sprayed two other fragrances on my other arm and left the perfume shop...
When I sat in the car 5 minutes later, just fastening my seatbelt, a scent wafted over my nose that made me pause. "What on earth is that?" It must be the two fragrances... No, it's not them; they are far too flat and unremarkable for this wonderful smell...
It's the Armani Code Elixir. "Wtf.... It smells good."
And how good! Damn good!
Now, 3 hours after leaving the perfume shop, this Code Elixir keeps wafting around my nose, and I just feel fantastic.
It gets better from the drydown minute by minute. I've sniffed my arm for the 100th time by now; I can't help it.
This leather, soft yet pronounced, high-quality and at the forefront, exactly the kind of leather I love, fresh, clean, and dark, spicy. All underpinned by a vanilla and tonka bean combination and something slightly sweet, maybe honey, but not too sweet, just subtle. This smoked leather (not at all smoky) but rather woody and deep, very masculine and very clean, polished. Dark yet clear. Overall, this fragrance exudes masculinity in its most unobtrusive and pure, well-groomed form.
I've probably smelled and tested over 100 different perfumes this year.... This Code Elixir is the king among these fragrances. My personal highlight so far in 2025. The well-known Code DNA comes through, but in a more mature and profound, richer, fuller way than in the EDP or parfum.
A fragrance for 35 years +
For established men who don’t want to stand out, but do so precisely because of that. Who occupy a room just with their presence.

Elixirs are just marketing gimmicks by designers… not quite!
I’ll be honest: I too am bored by this never-ending continuation of fragrance lines with the same names. EdP Intense, EdP Absolu, Parfum Intense, Elixir… no one can keep track anymore, and yet every mainstream house does it. However, the Code Elixir is simply a damn strong fragrance, and I almost don’t care that it carries this name.

The opening is smoky, sweet, and leathery at the same time. I love this type of leather, or rather, how it has been interpreted here, as it is just on the edge of smoky leather that I can still tolerate. Paired with the rather typical and soapy mandarin and the liqueur, it definitely creates an addictive combination.

Moreover, the fragrance makes no compromises in terms of longevity. On the skin? At least 10 hours, for me - depending on the temperature - even more. On clothes? It feels endless. A week ago, I sprayed it on a jacket, and it is still present today, especially a certain smoky feeling that doesn’t go away, but is never unpleasant. So for those who usually complain that designers don’t deliver in this regard: there’s no need to worry here.

The Code Elixir fits - contrary to what many others say - perfectly as an evolution in this line. It still has the familiar DNA of these Code reissues, but it steps up in terms of longevity, sillage (very strong for the first two hours, then slightly diminishing, but never weak), and facets. Top!

Armani Privé in the Wrong Flacon
Designer fragrances are often spoken of in a rather derogatory manner. A lot of money for often little innovation, and too boring and pleasing for experienced noses. One doesn't have to share this viewpoint, and it is often more shaped by one's own growing experience than that the fragrances are really bad. Many niche houses, on the other hand, focus on striking, complex, and captivating scents that often appeal less to the masses than the "clean" designer.

Now Giorgio Armani connects both worlds in the latest version of Code. This is surprising, as the EDT is indeed an extremely special, but also mass-appealing "crowd-pleaser." The Elixir surprisingly diverges strongly from its siblings and dives into the dark world of luxury fragrances.

One can imagine the scent as if taking the EDT, overlaying this base DNA with very prominently present and smoky leather and vanilla. Those who tend to shy away from strong leather fragrances may find relief here: For it is not a musty, harsh leather, but - despite a strong intensity - a gentle leather that never comes across as intrusive. The base DNA of Code is not completely gone, but it clearly takes a back seat. The scent profile could, in a blind test, be attributed to a Tom Ford, albeit with significantly less mustiness. In the designer realm, one would probably not expect this fragrance, especially not as a flanker of a Code.

When comparing it to the EDT, the latter will still be the stronger everyday scent, unless one is a lover of leather fragrances. Especially for niche enthusiasts, the Elixir is worth a test. The quality, longevity, and sillage are extraordinarily good.

This smells almost nothing like a code release, the leather is strong and is right at the forefront. Ballsy release from Armani. Kudos.

Leather against a sweet, smoky, dense backdrop. Even the accompanying synthetic (ambery) wood seems to fit in well.

Nice, slightly smoky & intense leather, subtle fruity sweetness. By far my favorite Code flanker. Has an Alberto Morillas vibe to it, nice!

For me, as a long-time Code fan, it's a disappointment. Doesn't deserve the name in my opinion. Leather with a bit of sweetness. Code DNA? Not at all!

For all Sons of Anarchy fans. Brutally masculine, leathery, and smoky. For me, it has little to do with the other current Armani Codes.

Lightly soaked leather meets the tonka note of the original. Experiment successful. Keep it going!

A very dark scent. It doesn't quite fit with the others in the line, but it's still very wearable. Very masculine :)

In the drydown, it comes extremely close to the set Absolu - subtle vanilla tonka bean and leather. New here: a smoky liqueur note at the start.

Smells very high-quality at first, smoky, leathery. In the drydown, it reminds me of the discontinued Absolu.
