Underrated …
Are you the type of guy that doesn't like the Acqua Di Gio line? Do you struggle to find any freshies or summer scents anywhere that really appeal to you? Well, I'm in that same boat . . . And I gotta say, ADG Elixir might be your ticket. It instantly made an impression on me, with some depth and weight the other options in the line lack, while still being light enough for heat-of-summer wear.

This is a Goldilocks scent. "Just right." The best of the original DNA (30%), with a cucumber twist (30%), and an added depth (30%) that makes it more versatile, mature, and sexy than the other options in the line. The overall scent is so nice. Now many reviews of this scent have been lukewarm, complaining that it's not adding anything new to the family. But that's not true - it's the "just right" combo that makes it special.

The cucumber comes from the violet leaf and calone, and this cucumber vibe is the real star . . . the DNA is more low-key, chill, and appealing . . . and the supposed leather note, I don't really smell it myself -- it operates more in the background just as an alchemy. In the fragrance's late evolution, the patchouli takes over a little more . . .

And the little bit of depth and weight they've created I appreciate - it gives the scent a versatility that will make this great for fall and spring too. You can dress this up or dress it down. And given the versatility, if I were taking a vacation, this would be a strong contender for the one fragrance I pack in the luggage.

My one, small knock on this fragrance is its projection. Within around an hour, it APPEARS to become a skin-scent only. I say appears, because after I thought it retreated to skin-scent only, I’ve gotten compliments from women on how good I smelled. They did hug me as a greeting, so hard to tell if they noticed it then or it was still projecting unbeknownst to me. Anyways, regardless of its projection, what’s undeniable is it does have longevity - you will still smell it on your skin 8-12 hours later! It's also competing in a weak draft class - summer scents - where I haven't found many other good options. (Side note: the only other heat-of-summer scent I really like is Escentric 05.)

Initially I passed on this because of its disappointing projection. I bought Profumo instead as a blind buy, given its high numeric ratings and reviews that made comparisons to Elixir. Boy was that a bust - Profumo is nothing like this (see my review of Profumo). I kept thinking about Elixir, testing it, and wanting it in my arsenal, despite its limitations. So rather than demand perfection, I decided to give it a break, and let myself just enjoy it for what it is. Bought a full bottle. So glad I did!

Updated, long-lasting AdG EDT
Despite the black bottle and “elixir” moniker Acqua di Gio Elixir is an aquatic freshie like the original. It has a violet-y leather in the background that acts as a fixative, carrying the citrus and aquatics for a long while. It’s good as a flanker, but isn’t really introducing anything new to the AdG line. I think this would be a good buy for someone who’s been wearing Acqua di Giò pour Homme Eau de Toilette for the last 30 years and needs an update. Not for the young ‘uns imo.

Great but short lasting
Wow wow so sexy so great but only 1-2 hours before this dies down. Dry down is sharp but in a very pleasant and sexy way. It is straight POWER! I would say but keep the bottle on you honestly so u can enjoy that opening more often. Best out of the line in my opinion. Very fine tuned and u can’t go wrong with Acqua di gio anyway great stuff. Anytime but winter would suit this best.

Fragrance Review:

First thoughts, it starts off aquatic and citrus sweet.

ADG Elixir has a dominant violet leaf sweetness, but has the original ADG EDT, and Profumo DNA.

I sprayed a total of 5 times. Twice behind each ear, twice on the front of neck, and once in front of my chest. The longevity is good, it lasts approximately 8-9 hours on my skin. This fragrance projects average too, with about a 6 ft radius for the 30 minutes, and a skin scent after about 2,5
hours.
(Depends on skin types)

Overall Rating (8/10)
It's an improvement in terms of longevity compared to the other ADG flankers. You can expect the similar ADG signature scent, but don't expect much from the projection. Would recommend you to try this first before buying it.

very good
First off I want to say I'm a huge ADG fan boy. So I wanted to get that out first. when I first smelled this I wasn't the biggest fan. I'm not the biggest fan of leather in fragrance. depending how leather is used I usually steer clear of them. But this one I'm enjoying a lot now the more and more I smell it in the air. The marine fresh notes on top of the leather really tones down leather note. and it mixes very pleasant to me. this also seems to make the performance very good, and also great for these cooler months. i will be grabbing this a lot more then I thought I would be now. I very much recommend it if your looking for a fresh masculine fragrance.

I tried this in my local Boots this morning. It seems mediocre and confused to me, nothing about this stands out at all. 6/10 is generous.

Fast pace cahs grab edition - milking on the OG and great Profumo ..the result - not very distinctive , derivative and very expensive for

Performs decently but the aquatic sharpness and lack of uniqueness make it forgettable.

The best in the ADG line, in my opinion. Masculine, spicy, smooth, dark, fresh and a bit of leather on the drydown. Good performance.

AdG + a little Fahrenheit. That's all I smell. Violet comes across as a bit watery, and light leather adds depth. Quite okay

Aquatic & intense cucumber-violet freshness like an elixir. Does it summon Alberto Morillas ADG heritage? Dark as bottle for a summer night.

the scent profile is pleasant. It’s smoother than profundo and profundo parfum. I wish it performed like Dior elixir 7/10

Like ADG Profumo but with a distinct (yet not overpowering) leather note instead of incense.
NOT a 1:1 to Profumo, try before your buy!
