Underrated …
Are you the type of guy that doesn't like the Acqua Di Gio line? Do you struggle to find any freshies or summer scents anywhere that really appeal to you? Well, I'm in that same boat . . . And I gotta say, ADG Elixir might be your ticket. It instantly made an impression on me, with some depth and weight the other options in the line lack, while still being light enough for heat-of-summer wear.

This is a Goldilocks scent. "Just right." The best of the original DNA (30%), with a cucumber twist (30%), and an added depth (30%) that makes it more versatile, mature, and sexy than the other options in the line. The overall scent is so nice. Now many reviews of this scent have been lukewarm, complaining that it's not adding anything new to the family. But that's not true - it's the "just right" combo that makes it special.

The cucumber comes from the violet leaf and calone, and this cucumber vibe is the real star . . . the DNA is more low-key, chill, and appealing . . . and the supposed leather note, I don't really smell it myself -- it operates more in the background just as an alchemy. In the fragrance's late evolution, the patchouli takes over a little more . . .

And the little bit of depth and weight they've created I appreciate - it gives the scent a versatility that will make this great for fall and spring too, and still work in winter even. You can dress this up or dress it down. And given the versatility, if I were taking a vacation, this would be a strong contender for the one fragrance I pack in the luggage.

My one knock on this fragrance is its projection. Within around an hour, it becomes a skin-scent only. While this isn't uncommon in "freshies," it's unusual because the longevity is still present - you will still smell it on your skin 8-12 hours later! Most freshies lack both. While I wish it projected better, no fragrance is perfect. And you can easily still smell it on your skin for a long time (after a shower even). It's also competing in a weak draft class - summer scents - where I haven't found many other good options. (Side note: the only other heat-of-summer scent I really like is Escentric 05.)

Initially I passed on this because of its disappointing projection. I bought Profumo instead as a blind buy, given its high numeric ratings and reviews that made comparisons to Elixir. Boy was that a bust - Profumo is nothing like this (see my review of Profumo). I kept thinking about Elixir, testing it, and wanting it in my arsenal, despite its limitations. So rather than demand perfection, I decided to give it a break, and let myself just enjoy it for what it is. Bought a full bottle.

Fragrance Review:
Fragrance Notes

Top Notes:
Bergamot, Nutmeg, Green Mandarin.

Mid Notes:
Water Notes, Violet Leaf.

Base Notes:
Leather, Patchouli, Vetiver, Labdanum.

Fragrance Review:

First thoughts, it starts off aquatic and citrus sweet.

ADG Elixir has a dominant violet leaf sweetness, but has the original ADG EDT, and Profumo DNA.

I sprayed a total of 5 times. Twice behind each ear, twice on the front of neck, and once in front of my chest. The longevity is good, it lasts approximately 8-9 hours on my skin. This fragrance projects average too, with about a 6 ft radius for the 30 minutes, and a skin scent after about 2,5
hours.
(Depends on skin types)

Overall Rating (8/10)
It's an improvement in terms of longevity compared to the other ADG flankers. You can expect the similar ADG signature scent, but don't expect much from the projection. Would recommend you to try this first before buying it.

Interesting but not essential
The violet leaf gives it Fahrenheit tones right off the top. It does settle down to something closer to ADG Profumo or Parfum but the violet lingers. The combination gave it a vivid smell of cut grass. The cost in the US for 50 ML at retail shops like Nordstrom's make this feel more over priced than designer fragrances usually are. But it's a well made fragrance that smells nice and gets the job done.

The finale?
Dear perfume enthusiasts,
As a long-time fan of the series, I couldn't help myself when I saw it on the shelf of a well-known drugstore chain. Conscience and reason, which tell you that nearly thirty fragrances are enough, were successfully ignored. This is not intended to be an eternally long review, but a brief description...

Was the purchase worth it?

Now after four days of testing- yes and no.
I agree with many of the previous speakers that the Elixir comes very close to the perfume. At least at the beginning. The fragrance opens fresh, with Calone similar to the original but more sparkling. This is immediately followed by a spiciness that I first perceived as incense, but is actually nutmeg, which brings a certain smokiness with it.
Later, the violet gives the fragrance its own twist which, as has often been mentioned here, has parallels to Dior Fahrenheit. A subtle nuance slightly reminiscent of petrol.

Conclusion:
A very finely tuned fragrance that never becomes overpowering, adds its own twist, but still fits well into the range.
Longevity and sillage are unfortunately not commensurate with the current price. For an elixir, in comparison with Sauvage Elixir, for example, Acqua di Gio Elixir seems very thin.
Wearable in everyday life and at any time of year, perhaps a little too weak on the chest in winter...
Have a nice evening and thanks for reading..

Adequate Aquate that enriches the AdG series
Full of anticipation, I opened the letterbox where the eagerly awaited sample of Acqua di Giò Elixir was located.
I wanted to do the field test, with the Acqua di Giò Parfum on the back of my right hand and the new Elixir on the left.

Here we go:
The spicy/aquatic AdG DNA cannot be interpreted in Elixir. It starts much fresher, brighter and greener than the perfume. Patchouli and (very light) leather linger discreetly in the background, the patchouli picks up more and more momentum in the first few minutes and the woody note comes through more and more. The violet note remains present in the foreground and forms a slightly floral spiciness with the bergamot and nutmeg. The sharpness of the incense is completely absent.
In the drydown, the two become more similar again, with the Elixir remaining slightly brighter, fresher and slightly more vaporous. It is pleasantly spicy throughout.
The sillage and longevity are about the same - no Ballermann, rather elegant and moderate.
As an AdG enthusiast, I find the elixir quite successful, as it takes another independent direction. It will definitely move into my home as a bottle.

It's like they ran out of ideas and combined Fahrenheit+Profumo. Uninspiring, they need to stop it with the flankers, it's getting boring

I tried this in my local Boots this morning. It seems mediocre and confused to me, nothing about this stands out at all. 6/10 is generous.

The best in the ADG line, in my opinion. Masculine, spicy, smooth, dark, fresh and a bit of leather on the drydown. Good performance.

AdG + a little Fahrenheit. That's all I smell. Violet comes across as a bit watery, and light leather adds depth. Quite okay

Aquatic & intense cucumber-violet freshness like an elixir. Does it summon Alberto Morillas ADG heritage? Dark as bottle for a summer night.

the scent profile is pleasant. It’s smoother than profundo and profundo parfum. I wish it performed like Dior elixir 7/10

Like ADG Profumo but with a distinct (yet not overpowering) leather note instead of incense.

NOT a 1:1 to Profumo, try before your buy!
