Early Summer Potpourri!
Nothing beats a fresh rhubarb fruit base, the red, aromatic, tangy stalks harvested from the garden! Topped with slices of warm clementine and fresh lime juice in the glaze. It already smells fruity-delicious and tastes.
When the linden and acacia trees are blooming outside, it’s early summer! The basil on the windowsill, in summer freshness, in an original little pot, competes with them in fragrance.
Then sitting on the balcony, enjoying the delicacies and scents in pleasantly warm surroundings, is a little joy of the highest class! If a nice breeze blows and carries the scents of moss and mallow from the surrounding gardens, the early summer happiness is perfect!
If the weather is wet and uncomfortable, or if one has cravings for such an olfactory early summer potpourri in the middle of winter, it can also be found from the Spanish perfume brand "Grès" in the form of the zesty-fresh and unusual scent "Grain de Folie"... which I personally translate as "Essence of Early Summer".
A truly extraordinary representative of its kind, as neither "too sweet" is bothersome, nor does a "baroque oversized powder cloud" threaten to follow the wearer. Everything is well balanced, WONDERFUL! :-))

the grain...
... of folly I translate this remarkably complex fragrance.
It is a cornucopia of ingredients - fruity elements like lime, kumquat, and rhubarb join hands here, but also weave bright jasmine and peony harmoniously together.
When amber, tonka bean, and moss come into play, the fragrance round is perfect.
Despite its olfactory richness, the entire composition is cheerful and conveys a pleasant lightness that helps one over many a daily hurdle.
It is a carefree scent, but it also carries a grain of seriousness with amber and musk.
The colorful bottle also has something winking and optimistic about it.
For me, it is the fragrance of choice when I am pensive and long for cheerfulness and optimism.

Crazy Basket - Why do you weep, fair gardener's wife?
Today, this fragrance is rarely seen in perfumeries. Green perfumes are not really part of my fragrance repertoire, unless they feature green notes like in "Must" by Cartier, which is perhaps why it is so intriguing.
Grain de folie presents itself, as the slightly kitschy-playful bottle already suggests, as a crazy basket of fruits and herbs. One that has been washed! Starting with citrus and kumquat notes, a seductive freshness quickly emerges, complemented by unusual ingredients like basil and rhubarb, which pack a punch and create an extravagant collage. It swings in the nose.
Such combinations can be found in Persian cuisine, where pomegranate seeds and mint join a cucumber salad, rhubarb is served with lamb, and both nose and palate are astonished. Much more sparing with spices than Arabs or Indians, they understand the art of combining seemingly incompatible ingredients.
And just like that, this fragrance develops in a unique way: fruits, rhubarb - not in the sweet variant here - and the aromatic basil "linger" for a long time before tonka and musk establish themselves, without overpowering the green friends. From the sprightliness, it transitions to a softer note, but it remains exciting, retaining its extraordinarily original character.
Grain de Folies is neither overwhelmingly strong, nor is it a weak scent.
I don't have a true summer fragrance, and those often offered as such don't really convince me. But this one is certainly suitable for hot days, as it balances freshness and coolness with warmth in the base note. It fits into my preferred group of present-spicy fragrances while also departing from it in a special way. A fragrance that is quite amusing and witty.
I love gardens very much, mind you, foreign gardens. I don't tie on a gardener's apron, but I gladly reach for the basket to help myself.
Do not weep, fair gardener's wife - the stolen fruits found favor.

Once fruity-floral, with a greenish touch, it seems very innovative and exciting in retrospect. Unfortunately, too much rhubarb for me.

The kitschy ugly bottle holds a fruity-floral fresh treat with a slight herbal touch. Unexpected and surprisingly good!

Sympathetic citrus-green light powder, with a hint of chypre, a bright floral summer heart, and a mossy, green-woody base. BEAUTIFUL!

Dreamily fresh start, fruity rhubarb note and a hint of summer blooms. Later it becomes greener, subtly spicy and close to the skin.

Very minty-green with a background of flowers. There's also a bitterness from the kumquat note.
