Beautiful and unexpected
As I brought the bottle to my nose, I smelled florality and a hint of vanilla. Hyacinth, ylang ylang and lemon open up at the beginning. An unusual feeling of freshness, like in a forest. Then the aroma began to smell floral, everything smells: jasmine, lilac, lily of the valley, iris and rose. Although there are a lot of flowers, it seems that you have come out of the forest into a clearing strewn with flowers. At the end it starts to smell like cedar, moss and vetiver. Although the aroma tries to show sweetness at the end, the aroma still smells like wood, a very beautiful tree.

Anaïs Anaïs with add ons
I do not remember how I got my hands on the gorgeous fragrance, and it came without the top - but I do feel lucky. This is on level with Gucci Eau de Parfum, which I am very fond of. Actually, I have come to think that Eau de Gucci is a beautiful mix between Envy EdT and GEdP. The top is definitely Envy, fruity and fresh, almost sparkling and when the top fades, the Iris and the other flowers push on and softens the scent. I do sometimes make a comparison to Cacharel’s Anaïs Anaïs (the original from 1978). But EdG performs way better and has this very delicious citric aspect, that AA lacks.
EdG is long lasting and wraps me in a haze of uplifting notes for a whole day. I wear this when the temperature is below 10 degrees.
Do not hesitate to buy, if you get the chance.

Bellissima
Eau de Gucci was the second women’s fragrance launched by Gucci after Gucci No. 1 and exudes Italian-urban flair: A spritz and Villa Borghese, Trevi Fountain, Colosseum, Spanish Steps, Via Condotti, or Piazza Navona flash by. If I had to describe Eau de Gucci in one word, it would be “sophisticated.” Despite the “Eau” in the name, which suggests a light refreshing water, it is a demanding class fragrance full of life that radiates effortless elegance and stands on equal footing with Gucci's masterpiece Gucci No. 3.
By definition, Eau de Gucci is a pure Chypre with bergamot and lemon in the top notes, and oakmoss, vetiver, and musk in the base. However, this fragrance is nothing like a typical Chypre, as it is soft, cuddly, and full - the woodiness, often bitterness of a Chypre is completely absent here. The notes of Eau de Gucci are so complex and skillfully woven into a dense fragrance veil that I cannot filter out individual components. The overall impression is that of a white floral, slightly spicy scent with green undertones and a hint of sweetness, where the floral bouquet is rather abstract in nature, meaning it conveys the idea of a white floral fragrance rather than the scent of white flowers themselves.
In the 80s and 90s, Eau de Gucci was sold as a fresh summer fragrance (inexpensively) and the perfume books from that time also list it under floral-fresh fragrances. A look at the fragrance pyramid mentioned above shows how much the definition of “fresh” has changed over time. With heavyweights like ylang-ylang in the top notes, tuberose and lily in the heart notes, and amber, musk, and vanilla in the base, Eau de Gucci today would almost be considered a Floriental. Additionally, Eau de Gucci Concentree (in the blue packaging) also had a hint of an animalic note (civet?). Corresponding to its time of origin, Eau de Gucci also scores with long-lasting wear and quite a strong sillage.

No rule without exception!
I am not a fan of Chypre! Most of the perfumes I got to sniff as a child in the 70s seemed to belong to this fragrance family. Of course, I didn't know that back then. But some perfumes that I received as samples (I was curious about everything fragrant!) or that were used by my mother's friends gave me headaches.

Even today, I can rarely identify a single note in the typical perfumes of the 70s, aside from the distinctive oakmoss. Now I know that oakmoss is not necessarily my favorite note - too often it comes across as bitter, harsh, or even sour on me at first. However, some floral Chypres do belong to my repertoire; I find most of them to be elegant, slightly aloof scents that are well-suited for more serious or festive (mostly evening) occasions, such as theater, opera, concert, or even Christmas parties (no, not the extravagant kind!). But I still cannot quite warm up to herbal-green Chypres.

"Eau de Gucci" is presumably a floral Chypre according to the pyramid, but in my perception, it has more of an autumnal-woody quality. Again, I cannot identify any individual notes. For years, I have been using a mini that I regularly bring out in September because I find it fitting for the early autumn mood. Now I have also acquired a vintage bottle. Why do I like this one and others Chypres less? Kugeldistel has already mentioned it - the bitter oakmoss is very subdued here. This makes the scent more pleasant, even though it remains distinctive and unmistakable.

And the vintage has a very decent sillage! I also really like that about this perfume.

Floral Chypre with a Strong Character
At the outset, Eau de Gucci is very fresh and citrusy. The bergamot and lemon combine with a noticeable spiciness, probably from the balsamic galbanum, which snuggles beautifully between the citrus fruits. You can immediately tell that this is a very rich fragrance with a strong character.

As a tuberose lover, I must, however, search in vain for it here, just like for the lilac. Iris and rose push themselves to the forefront, while the lily of the valley tries to keep up, but it’s simply too small and fails to do so.

In the base, it doesn’t change too much. I can detect a hint of amber, but I don’t recognize any vanilla at all.

All in all, a very beautiful fragrance and a floral chypre as it should be.

Wonderful chypre, almost forgotten in the closet. Initially fresh, it turns into a true floral dream with delicate vanilla on the skin. Unique!

Another (older) Gucci that I really love. It has just the right balance of flowers, moss, and freshness. Wonderful chypre.

Intense, colorful bouquet of flowers in full bloom, with Ylang and Lilac at the center on me. Starts fresh, becomes chypre and richer.

This is how spring smells. What a floral bomb. Fresh and energetic, slightly soapy. Everything comes together harmoniously.

I don't like Chypres! Still, this is the most beautiful Chypre I've ever smelled. Totally fascinating and unforgettable :O

Chypre? It should be. Warm with a distinct tuberose, reminiscent of Roma Imperiale. And just as rare.

A fine floral, barely powdery chypre scent with a slightly animalic note that might be due to the age of the fragrance.

Spicy colorful floral chypre at its best! Fresh and strong, long-lasting - what a shame it's no longer produced, tsk, tsk.

An elegant floral, slightly spicy chypre that envelops softly + protectively like a green hedge around a flower garden. Pure autumn melancholy.
