Okay, Bisch, I'm impressed.
This is like the Elixir if it wasn't muddled with sweetness and actually had some thought put into it.
The opening is very similar to the Elixir, if it had a softer vanilla and was less in your face. Sadly the rum note isn't as boozy or prominent as I hoped it would be, but that is completely okay as the tonka bean makes up for it in the dry down.
They really microdosed the labdanum, chili, and leather notes, definitely supporting notes that do make the fragrance darker and do a really good job at it. I will include, that if you're here for the chili note, Guilty EDP is the best one for that. It is a lot softer and less nuanced here. Now for the tonka bean, the almond amplifies the tonka bean and I could even detect some cherry facets.
The base really completes it with the multifaceted tonka bean and benzoin, they pair really well, in the air its a very delicious and rich smell.
This is 100% a modern and safe release, however what I'm impressed by is the complexity of the tonka bean, which is almost never seen in designer releases. As a Gucci Guilty fan, this is by far the best one in the line. Is it as unique and bold as the original Gucci Guilty Absolute? No, but it performs better and can be worn a lot more. This a great take on modern sweet DNAs with a dark spicy twist, and I respect it for being that way.
