Refreshing and Juicy!

What a lovely smell! I am always surprised by how nice this one is! The contrast between juicy sweet and dry is really good!

Aqua Allegoria Laurier Réglisse starts out with a wonderful juicy combination of bright, fresh bergamot and clean orange blossom. The liquorice and bay give a nice contrast between juicy and dry, green aromatic, with the violets backing up the liquorice (like a dessert) and rich galbanum backing up the bay leaves, drying down to a vanilla-amber in the base.

You know, for a simple perfume this is really nice. In fact, it works so well I don't think this is too simple at all! It's a bright, juicy, refreshing, happy fragrance which can be worn not just during the warmer months (especially spring and summer), but all year round as something to freshen you up and make you feel happy. Male or female doesn't matter... as happiness has no gender! It's such a shame they discontinued this one, because I really like it!

Aqua Allegoria Laurier-Réglisse

This fragrance opens with notes of bergamot, orange blossom and liquorice. The resulting accord is tart and sweet with an interesting salty contrast. As the scent progresses, laurel joins the composition which adds an earthy-herbal quality to the main citrus-heavy accord. The notes complement and contrast each other: sweet and herbal, fresh and dry. The liquorice note is always present in the background, adding sweetness or saltiness as required. In its last stages the fragrance moves away from the bright sweetness of the bergamot and orange blossom and veers towards the earthy green with the appearance of violet. Galbanum and amber soften the whole.

Aromatic Seduction

When I was first introduced to Laurier Réglisse, I was very, very skeptical. What kind of fragrance could it be that mixes bay leaf and licorice?
But I was quickly proven wrong. For the bay, the spicy leaves are used, and for the licorice, not the roots (I must say that I don't like licorice at all), but the noble licorice flowers.

When I then sprayed this fragrance on my wrist, my nose was delighted from the very first moment. First, the blend of noble bergamot from Calabria, a quality that is always excellent with Guerlain, then the orange blossom in its fruity freshness.

In the heart, a violet note briefly wafted to my nose, and I was already worried that the fragrance would develop sweetly, but I was mistaken. The bay and the licorice flowers did not relinquish their dominance.

This freshness remains in the fragrance until the very end and is supported by a slight bitter note of galbanum and amber, making the scent not just a fleeting whisper, but lasting for at least 3 - 4 hours. However, with an Aqua Allegoria, it's not about longevity, but rather the aromatic effect and refreshment.

Somehow, this fragrance transported me back to my childhood. My mother often used bay leaves as a spice, and there were often anise rolls, and this combination of bay and licorice flowers reminded me exactly of that mix.

Aromatic, seductive, delicious, vibrant, green, herb-fresh, gentle - all these qualities come to mind with Laurier Réglisse.
