Neroli & Smoky Earl Grey Tea Delight!
Off the top I get a lot of petitgrain with a surge of bergamot which is followed by a smoky mix of tea and myrhh. After a while when the scent takes to the air it suddenly opens up and I can smell the neroli within the mix. At this stage it does smell very nice and enchanting, imagine smoky tea notes mixing in with neroli and earthy myrhh. I can see what Thierry Wasser was trying to do offsetting the neroli note with smoky tea and myrhh notes.

Also I think he has captured the tea note quite beautifully, you can smell the bitter and smoky aspect. And when this mixes in with the neroli it's quite lovely. I think how much you love the tea accord is going to determine how much you like this one. For me I love it.

For me on my skin the tea and smoky earthy notes are more dominant than the neroli. And that's why to my nose I perceive it more on the masculine side, definitely unisex though. Talking about the neroli note I find it more subdued and that it takes a backseat to the smoky earthy tea accord. Though when it makes itself known it is quite lovely.

Though the neroli comes through more when the smoky earthy tea notes calm down a bit. But this is not a full bodied dominant neroli scent, it's more subtlety weaved providing a contrast to the other notes. Very nice fragrance.

Pure Genius
This perfume is a true work of art. I’ve never enjoyed a perfume based on neroli—it has always seemed to make my skin smell like pickles. However, Néroli Outrenoir is like being in heaven all day long. I keep smelling myself and am surprised by the longevity—over 8 hours now and continuing. The sillage is close—just for me, which I like so much. It’s fresh and clean, perfect for anytime wear.

The price point is high, but I’m going to budget for a big bottle starting right now.

A floral-tea fragrance done right
I love tea as a note in fragrance, but I've had a hard time finding fragrances that use it in such a fashion that Neroli Outrenoir does. This fragrance is a truly brilliant floral, citrusy, tea fragrance with just enough of a smoky facet to really give it that extra level of uniqueness. The opening is quite neroli forward, with a touch of a gourmand note from the neroli. I have always felt that neroli smells a bit like cereal, so I get quite a bit of that here. There is a bit of bright and fresh citrus note in the opening as well that's quite punchy, but not screechy or harsh by any means. As it dries the tea becomes a more present note, with a very soft earthy tone to it, and bit of a warm/spicy affect to it as well, which is purely magnificent. The tea note sticks around for the entirety of the wear which is a pleasant surprise, given that tea can be fleeting at times. It's really a wonderfully crafted fragrance, and definitely a favorite of mine from L'Art et la La Matière.

Fragrances like these are what makes me love Guerlain as much as I do. In concept, they're relatively simple, but in execution they're complex pieces of perfume mastery that aren't often replicated by other houses. Neroli Outrenoir is definitely a full bottle worthy fragrance, and one that I highly recommend, as it scratches that itch that most tea fragrances simply don't.

Sweet Myrrh Tea
An incredible composition from this line, as always. The opening is a sweet orange blossom and myrrh with a tiny hint of black tea. It has been some time I've smelled something that excited and captivated me this much. It is smoky and smooth, but what else can you expect from Art/Matiere? Must have!

A scent to be discovered
The summer is coming ️!!! It’s time to take out our favorite citrus scent; except, I don’t have any .

A good citrus scent can be hard to find. Most of them have (very) short longevity, which is a deal-breaker for me (who wants to re-apply every 2 hours??!!). After some digging on the internet, I came across an intriguing candidate: Néroli Outrenoir.

Got a 10ml mini bottle from souk (Guerlain offers mini bottles for the L'Art & la Matière line, and they look nice ). Let the party begin.

The first encounter with Néroli Outrenoir was a mixed experience. I could detect the freshness of the citrus, but didn't find it prominent. Instead, a special unknown scent occupied the center of the stage. It’s not something immediately appealing, but kept my nose (and brain) interested such that I re-smell it again and again. Later learnt that it’s Néroli. It has layers and characteristics, but not the mass appealing type. I consider it an “acquired taste”, and am definitely acquiring it. Another surprise is the Tea note. Tea lovers would be delighted by its presence.

A striking feature of Néroli Outrenoir is its softness. As an analogy, all my other fragrances are like punches; their presence is unambiguous. On the other hand, Néroli Outrenoir is like a hug; you didn’t notice it at the beginning, then felt its presence, and then got reminded of its beauty from time to time. FYI, I have low-to-mid projection fragrances such as green irish tweed, but the analogy still stands. FYIFYI, I have also tested other L'Art & la Matière fragrances, and this softness is present in all of them.

The weakness of the scent is its longevity. Despite what many fraghead have said, the fragrance is short-lived on my skin; after 2 hours, it fades into a skin scent. Therefore, I wouldn’t acquire a full bottle.

Overall, I really like Néroli Outrenoir. The scent is beautiful and has unique characteristics. Its softness gives an elegant and considerate vibe. Its short longevity is unfortunate, but I definitely consider it worth testing.

The cleanest, most luxurious hotel lobby. Pure tranquility clings to you in a soft but long-lasting way. May be the best tea note I've tried

Spicy, slightly citrusy black tea with a subtle neroli makes a solid impression. But the whole at a high price of L'Art et la Matière-seies?

Very light, and all orange blossom & ambrette on me, no tea or smokiness sadly. Feels classic, like something my grandma would have worn.

A refined take on neroli. Citrusy, fresh tea twist, and uniquely elegant. Great scent, moderate performance.

A very nice predominantly tea scent reminiscent of a fancy hotel lobby.

Despite the fragrance suggesting neroli is the star, the tea note is the star in this one with neroli being the co-star. Very nice scent.
