I love baby and children’s scents. They shouldn’t be sweet, but they should smell powdery, nurturing, or creamy. My dream fragrance would be a perfume that smells like Penaten products. Now, of all the children’s fragrances I know so far, this is the first scent that has a very strong chamomile note. Chamomile is also a scent note in Penaten products, but it smells different.
I remember a thread I opened some time ago in the forum to brainstorm about children’s fragrances. Wow, there was quite a backlash, saying that children shouldn’t be perfumed, as they naturally smell good and that it’s not suitable for children at all. To my detractors, I would like to present this fragrance from Guerlain. There’s hardly anything more child-appropriate. The scent smells like a baby bottle filled with chamomile tea. The tea is only very lightly sweetened. Vanilla is very subtle in the background and hardly noticeable. The floral notes are minimal as well. So, one can’t really speak of a perfume in the classical sense, but rather of a pleasant scent that naturally reminds one of babies. And by the way, not all babies smell good. There are some whose moms like to leave the diapers on longer (yuck), and there are moms who use cloth diapers, and there are toddlers, e.g. those with neurodermatitis, who constantly have the smell of unpleasant ointment and gauze bandages on them. It would be fitting to use such a delicate scent, for example, for clothing or on bed linens, so that those babies smell good and can be cuddled (please don’t take this too seriously - thank you).
For an adult, the scent is not necessarily made. The Bulgari scent "Petits et Mamans" is more powdery and corresponds more to the adult baby scent preference. But this scent really smells like babies, and very authentically. It is only recommended for people with very sensitive noses who want a fragrance that isn’t really a perfume. But with this scent on, one shouldn’t be surprised if they are offered a piece of bologna at the deli, asked if they are all alone, or if mommy and daddy are nearby, or how many siblings they have :-)
