Ddelicious Decadence

A limited edition (EDP) inspired by an Espresso Martini.
After a slightly “boozy” opening with a “chocolate” coffee aroma, there is mainly a dark musk / amber that I feel like a leather accord.
A leather accord reminiscent of Caron's Tabac Blond. In other words, a vintage leather that perhaps the authors called Decadence.
A Decadence that is very sensual and, progressively, addictive.
This was what I liked most.
It brought to mind the song "La Décadanse" by Serge Gainsbourg with Jane Birkin.
The scent skin is also delicious as the rough edges at the beginning disappear.
An interesting fragrance but not for everyone. Nothing easy and something to try before you buy.

Nice espresso martini with woods, not overly gourmand-ish

Imaginary Authors Blend No. 83 is a limited-edition release from last year as a collaboration with Kahlua, and partly inspired by the chocolate liqueur, itself. To my nose, it’s a blend of chocolate, rum, coffee, and woods, and the gourmand aspects relatively quickly dry down into a woodier blend, almost like a “Kahlua with log cabin” vibe throughout most of its life. So it’s not the full gourmand that the more recent limited edition, this year’s Dipped in Chocolate, is, but it’s definitely a mostly-gourmand, a boozy, beverage-inspired concoction that feels like a transportive night enjoying an espresso martini in a cozy spot, a nice balance between the gourmand aspects and a more general environmental vibe, perhaps a bit of cedar, ambroxan, and resins to my untrained nose. I think it’s a helpful option for those that might find a heavier gourmand to be too intense.

Overall, I think it’s quite good even if not among my very favorites of the house.

Exactly as Advertised and More

Imaginary Authors really excels with gourmand fragrances. This isn't just a chocolate boozy fragrance. It starts off with a dark chocolate (like baking chocolate) that is sweetened with rum. But its not sugary, tooth rotting sweet like some fragrances. Its more like a natural occurring sweetness. It settles into a rum coffee with a dark amber finish, slightly musky. This smells exactly like I expect a Kahlua coffee to smell like. Its delicious, photo realistic without it being "immature." The projection is nice and the scent lasted at least 5 hours on my skin. I love this scent and I am sad to see it go.

Best priced fragrance of all time? It's an extremely well blended chocolate, coffee, and alcohol fragrance. I love the musk as well, super decadent and pleasant. Quite strong performance and excellent smell. 10/10 Value. Nothing to say other than Hell Yeah! (What I said upon opening it during my unboxing YouTube video) 8.5/10 overall but nothing short than 10/10 in value.

Herb Disappointment

I had this limited edition from Imaginary Authors flown in from the USA through three corners because the notes on paper appealed to me so much. I haven't had an Espresso Martina yet, but sometimes a well-executed idea translates so well that you seem to get an idea of the original. I love the individual notes. In Blend No. 83, herb-sweet dark chocolate and coffee open up. I don't explicitly get rum, but it does remind me of distillate after the first sweetness fades away. Up to this point, it's all okay, nothing that blows me away. In the drydown, a sharpness suddenly develops that most closely resembles the burnt remnants of my espresso maker. By this point, I want to get rid of the bottle. What a shame.
