Mood indigo (...with a greenish shade)
The first thought which went to my mind when I saw the bottle of this perfume was the title of a famous Duke Ellington's jazz composition: mood indigo. (Indaco is the italian word for indigo)
So, I said to myself: "My mood...maybe my scent!"
Attracted by this deep blue , I sprayed the fragrance and immediately a very particular cocoa note arrived to my nose. I tried to define this kind of fragrance, but it wasn't only oriental or only gourmand . It was a unique scent.
On my skin I didn't smell the flowery notes at the opening, but almost totally the warm base , with the benzoin , the tonka bean, the patchouli and the green (or greenish ?) touch of the vetyver .
This abovementioned base notes with the cocoa touch are the ones who stay for a few hours on the skin or on the clothes . So, the longevity and the sillage are averageabove average in comparison to other scents by L'erbolario. The blue-indigo bottle is quite elegant and in a special edition is accompained by a little velvet bag.
I must remark that nowadays the prices of the products by L'erbolario are higher than before, anyway they are stille quite affordable. So, for a 100ml size you 'll pay about 30euros . Ready to reveal your "mood indigo"?

Deadly on the first spray!
And once again, I'm testing a rather new L’Erbolario, which has not really disappointed me so far. But I shouldn't have said that, as something worse always happens, you know *sigh* And yes, this scent here has indeed become the first truly disappointing fragrance. Why? Well, I’ll tell you now, and I’ll get right to the scent description.

Admittedly, my introduction is quite short this time, but… well, I just couldn’t think of anything this time… so what??? :D

The scent:
The opening of the fragrance is quite diverse. First of all, the powdery note stands out, which, due to the many floral notes, somehow doesn't come off as particularly soft, but rather dry. From the flowers, I initially pick up violets, which smell nice. But then, just a few moments later, the scent takes a rather peculiar turn that I really don’t like. It has something of this Black Orchid-like scent that makes you not only wrinkle your nose when sniffing, but actually recoil completely.
I think it could be a very high proportion of patchouli that doesn’t smell good here… but I’m not so sure. For me, this part even smells repulsive, and I hope that changes soon…
*waiting*
Well, about halfway through the heart note, the scent doesn’t smell better,… but the repulsive effect at least diminishes a little. I would say that you can still smell a rather strong patchouli. I’m a bit unsure about the flowers. Because the violets, which provide a certain sweet powdery note, can only be smelled in the rising scent cloud, so they need a certain space to unfold. Up close, you instead smell heavier, indefinable notes…
Later on, the scent cloud itself still smells nice, with the mentioned sweet and powdery notes (I think some tonka bean is coming into play now). But there is still that very peculiar scent that, as mentioned, unfortunately drags everything down for me, so I really can’t do anything with this fragrance and probably won’t ever try it again after this test…

The sillage and longevity:
The sillage is okay, neither particularly strong nor really weak, so it should be detectable from a normal distance for a while.
The longevity is more than eight hours, which is quite okay, and I don’t have to endure the scent any longer and will go wash my arm… :D

The bottle:
The rectangular bottle has beveled side edges, making it somewhat octagonal. It is dark blue, and on the front, you can see various floral motifs in gold next to the name. The cap is black and cylindrical and sits on a round, golden bottle neck. It looks quite nice.

Wow… this is the first L’Erbolario that I really didn’t like at all. If only I hadn’t said at the beginning that I hadn’t sniffed a truly bad L’Erbolario yet… :D
Yes, it may be because it reminded me of really terrible scents like Tom Ford's Black Orchid, which you crazy ones love so much, but for me, the scent is just awful. Not because it’s heavy or suffocating or anything… but because I actually can’t stand the scent olfactorily, I find it so disgusting that it (and also the Black Orchid) could definitely cause nausea for me with prolonged “exposure”… yes, something similar to being exposed to radioactive radiation… yikes! Okay, maybe the scent becomes slightly more bearable from the heart note or a bit later, but not necessarily much more pleasant, and for me, it remains almost repulsive for a longer time.

That’s why I found it extremely difficult to describe the scent, as I had to leave it on my arm for a while to keep sniffing it (cursing and screaming). Okay, sniffed from a distance, the sweet powdery scent notes do come across as pleasant, and the scent does have potential, as other scent notes also don’t smell bad from afar, but they then act like sirens, luring you in and wanting to plunge you into ruin when you get closer! Up close, the scent is deadly!!
Wow wow wow!!! Alright, maybe I’m exaggerating a bit, but I just want to tell you that I really didn’t like the scent :D

Whoever wants to use this scent should ideally only wear it on colder days in autumn and winter, because in summer it would be absolutely deadly!

No no,… I can’t test this scent more than once and am now glad to have gotten it over with! Phew… unfortunately, I believe that some, or maybe even many of you absolutely crazy women will like it… brrrrr!!!

A wonderful warm, oriental bouquet that reminds me to the more famous Shalimar. Good sillage and a basic but elegant indigo packaging

For me, creamy, balsamic, powdery, with a slight bitterness in the background, without dominant notes. Very interesting, I really like it.

Gasoline puddle in a dark cellar. Dry + powdery flowers with earthy, slightly bitter patch. Herbal, waxy + heavy. Just a hint of cocoa.

Starts off gasoline-like, but quickly evolves into a powdery, dark-floral, spicy vanilla charmer. Reminds me of Shalimar...

Beautiful progression: citrus-floral-bright to dark-powdery. Bright darkness, blue hour. Barely sweet. Similar - but denser! - to MusicHall.

Band duel: Vanilla + geranium + violet combo with a citrus background choir against cocoa-patchouli duet.
Duet much louder, clear victory

A mystical scent, powdery and dry. For just a moment at the beginning, I can't help but think of the Shalimar DNA...

Angua is soooo right! Somehow dull! The cocoa powder lacks sweetness. The flowers and citrus don't really harmonize with it. Mediocre.
