Nice Cardamon-Centric Fragrance
This Autumn B&BW introduced a large collection of "dupes" including Lost In Santal which is supposed to be a dupe of Santal 33, a fragrance with which I am totally unfamiliar, so I cannot comment on how well it impersonates Santal 33, but I can say it is quite nice.
The note list is quite short: Sandalwood, Cardamon, Cedarwood, Satin. I detect more cardamon than sandalwood proper, but altogether, I think what this fragrance tries to offer is an interpretation of sandalwood without trying to be quintessentially sandalwood. No one can do that anymore given that the Indian tree is endangered and is no longer harvested.
Overall, this is a lightly spicy, warm, inviting fragrance. It has a slight sweetness to it but not a sugary sweetness. I really like it. I think it is totally unisex, and at this price point, it is very accessible. If the notes appeal to you, then do try this fragrance. It is one of the better ones that B&BW has produced in a long time.
I also purchased a few others from this Everyday Luxuries collection including Covered in Roses, Petal Parade, Floral Fantasy, and Pink Obsessed. I like the last two best. I have never smelt Flower Bomb, but I wager Floral Fantasy is a good dupe for it. It is very nice. Likewise, Pink Obsessed is so close to Donna Born in Roma that I would never pay for Born in Roma. Pink Obsessed is a very good imposter. So, now I have Lost in Santal, and whist I cannot testify that it is a dupe for Santal 33, it does smell quite nice indeed. All of the ones I have purchased thus far are well worth the sale price of $6 each. I would buy all of them again if I ran out and they were still available. I wish B&BW would make the matching body cremes and body lotions.
Oh, before I forget, a few reviewers claim that Lost in Santal smells like "pickle juice." I absolutely do not smell anything like pickle juice here. I smell a warm, spicy cardamon with a sort of impression of sandalwood. Lost in Santal is a fragrance that makes me want to cozy up in front of a roaring fire with my lover. This would be a fantastic fragrance on a man, too. It is very unisex.
Fragrance: 6.5/10
Sillage: 5/10
Longevity: 5/10
Projection: 5/10
Packaging: 5/10
