Disappointing Noir Intense replacement.
A lovely compliment to the "Blanc" as day turns to night.
I vaguely pick up the listed notes if i want too ;)
This non "Intense" version has literally no longevity but a slightly stronger opening. I have tested the two version against each other over and over with my gf as subject.
Even the i "Instense" wont offend no one, no where with its non intrusiveness and non dividing pleasant and non provoking smell.

Now let's not be so pessimistic!
Was it clairvoyant abilities when I predicted in my comment about Rouge over a year ago that the next one in the L.12.12 series would be black? It was probably more of a logical conclusion.

Just as logical is it that one shouldn't get too upset if Noir languishes far below the level of earlier Lacoste fragrances - that was to be expected. Nevertheless, this dark little water is better than its colorful brothers.

Noir starts off fruity sweet, partly pleasantly warm, partly thanks to the basil and lavender (or whatever one is supposed to think it is) with a slightly unruly soapy note. Right behind it lurks a timid chocolatey component that wants to push Noir towards gourmand fragrance territory. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite succeed, as everything combined with the fruity concoction comes off as a bit too artificial. ...

The end of the story is a somewhat bearable scent that, however, does not necessarily contribute positively to Lacoste's image. Still, I dare to make two more predictions:

L.12.12 Noir will become one of the bestsellers - despite its expandable sillage and longevity.

L.12.12 Gold will try to outdo it next year with even more fruit and sweetness.

Fruits of the Night
What does Lacoste stand for?

On one hand, there is the classic polo shirt, which is internally designated with the number L.12.12. If a man should have a polo shirt in his closet - or on his body - then it should be one like this. The color is almost irrelevant; it is immediately recognized as a classic, and the man is perceived as well-dressed. Wonderful!
When it comes to Lacoste's men’s fragrances, it’s a different story. For me, they all correspond to a cliché, namely that they are soft and fruity. Depending on the color variant, it becomes either fresher, berry-like, or creamier, but sweet and fruity it always is. I am curious about which black fruits were considered for this scent.

But let's approach the story from the bottle's perspective. Packaged in an embossed black box that takes on the texture of the pique fabric from the polo, adorned with a simple yet meaningful print. The bottle is the well-known rounded square of the L.12.12 series, also featuring the pique texture on the sides. It is black and opaque, solid and heavy. It sits comfortably and securely in the hand, just the way I like it. The only adornment is the famous crocodile. Under the simple little button is a good spray head that performs its job precisely and beautifully dosed. This is how a bottle should be.

The scent opens with fruit salad. Sweet, fruity, as expected. One struggles to sniff out the different fruits of the pyramid. Yes, there is a ripe cantaloupe, but I have a hard time with pineapple or red fruits like currants or raspberries. It is intense and delicious, only moderately artificial. I like it. To the fruit cocktail join some bitter, spicy notes. I can still perceive lavender, but I have serious problems identifying the other accords. There is another heavy and sweet component; it might be chocolate, but I wouldn’t swear to it. I also cannot find cashmeran or patchouli on my radar, unfortunately. Such a pity!

The black fruit salad has impressive staying power. Its sillage is present but not intrusive. Neither in its concentration nor in its impression. The fruit is intense without wanting to appear too artificial. However, as a top note, it always dominates over the heart and base. The spicy and sometimes bitter notes can only achieve brief interjections; against the concentrated power of the fruits, they do not really stand a chance even after a mere eight hours. While this is impressive if you are looking for a fruity scent, it makes the fragrance seem somewhat one-dimensional and lacking in character over time. I wish for more intense spicy, bitter, perhaps even scratchy notes alongside the warmth.

What remains of this Lacoste with the name "Noir"? Unfortunately, not black fruits. One also searches in vain for dark and heavy scent accords like those found in the Noir representatives of other fragrance houses. However, it is a scent that can be worn well for going out for a long evening and an even longer night. The rest should then be brought by the night...

You are definitely well-dressed, like wearing a black Lacoste polo.

Latest Offspring of the Lacoste Boredom
Since there were absolutely no alternatives in the store today, I sprayed Lacoste Noir on my wrist for a test. Although the other Lacoste fragrances nearly made me fall asleep from their sheer banality.

The latest offshoot from this year is now black, and fortunately, the folks at Lacoste are slowly running out of colors, because this always similar, pale soap-opera-meets-fruit-salad idea can't go on forever. And Noir is probably one of the better ones in the series. It is definitely wearable and acceptable as a starter gift into the world of fragrances. But nothing more, and my memory of anything from the other colors in the series is so weak that I can't really compare. But Noir also smells fruity, soapy, fresh, and unremarkable. Anyone expecting something daring or something elegant or party-ready due to the color should just walk on by.

There’s melon and a fruit mash, a bit of tame basil and lemon. Chocolate or patchouli can only be sensed in the dry down, which is also due to its short longevity. In hot weather, the scent didn't even last a full 5 hours. The bottle isn't worth another word, and the sillage is the same as with the other fragrances.

An all-rounder for people with veeeery low expectations and little experience. And that's putting it nicely!

Little Croco Chews Gum
Now we are already at the black bottle. And no, the fragrances do not all smell the same, as some might think. They are mostly rather average scents, but now and then some of them don't smell too bad at all. Like this black edition here, although you have to wait a bit first.

Here is the scent description:
At the beginning, you can really smell a nice watermelon and the pineapple. Then suddenly the sillage becomes quite strong, which is actually good, as you can smell the perfume well; however (perhaps due to the involvement of the red berries), the scent now smells like fruit-flavored gum for over half an hour. This scent is now too sweet and fruity to pass as a proper fragrance, and one might think that this is more of a children's scent.
Later on, however, the scent takes a turn when the lemon and basil start to come into play, with a hint of lavender that soon bids farewell.
In the base, a bit of chocolate joins in, and it also has a slightly powdery quality (maybe due to the cashmeran??). You can't smell the patchouli at all. It stays like that and even occasionally smells almost like tonka bean. All in all, it doesn't smell too bad in the base.

The longevity is similar to the other Lacoste fragrances, and I would say it lasts about 3-5 hours. The sillage is a bit stronger here than with the other scents, but it also noticeably decreases later on.

The bottle is rectangular, opaque, with a piano lacquer finish. The cap is also black. There is a small, cute Croco on the bottle, which stands out particularly well against the dark background.

Hmm… I find it a bit difficult to rate this scent. Because the first 30-45 minutes it smells quite fruity and, as described, too much like gum before the scent gradually starts to smell better. I think, together with the white version, it belongs to the better fragrances in this line and could even be worth a test, but the price is still too high for this line. However, if I could rate it in individual steps, I might not give it a full 70%, but still a solid 65%. Because it really isn't that bad after the gum scent has faded away.

Smells like the discount perfume kiosk at the mall, shame because the notes listed could be so cool.

If Crocodile Dundee sprayed this on, I’m not surprised he was never eaten by a crocodile. Stick to the polos.

I think the scent is not bad for a Lacoste fragrance.
It was my first own perfume (I was about 14/15)
It was good for that time :)

A lovely, pleasant everyday scent. Perfectly matches a Lacoste polo. Great value for the price.

Unnecessary - the white and yellow are better, also in terms of performance, if you can call it performance :)
