Overhyped Until Dry-down
I have owned this perfume for almost a year, and I bought it after watching and reading soooo many reviews. Many of which I assume you've also heard. "It's the perfect luxury sandalwood, summer scent!" they all screamed at me. Then, imagine my surprise, when I wear it for the first time... It smells like someone spiced an expensive sunscreen. I was annoyed to say the least, because it really read more spicy than creamy to me, and I had bought it for a vacation. Well, low on options, I chose to wear it on vacation anyway. I made many lovely memories which I now associate with the perfume. Yet I'm still not sold on it. I don't think it's accurately rated or reviewed by most people who make it sound as if it's the creamiest, most luxurious fragrance of all time (which it most certainly is not.)

HOWEVER

Somehow, this is my most worn fragrance according to Parfumo's year in review. I literally don't know why, but I've worn this a LOT. The more I think about it, the more I remember that I've gotten a compliment almost every time that I've worn this. The initial couple hours are spicy and warm, BUT the dry down is creamy and cool like the reviews promised. I'm wearing it right now in the office and sniffing my shirt repeatedly to discern how I feel and I still don't know! Ironically, the compliments tend to come while it's spicy and warm so do with that information what you will.

But yeah...odd and unimpressive fragrance that I still wear all the time apparently.

Gris Charnel's sister on a summer holiday!
I have to agree with @Mavila16! This really is the Gris Charnel DNA, but in a summery, feminine, fruity and much sweeter way!

At first I get a candied orange, some spices like cardamom, then candy and a sweet sandalwood, then later a little hint of coconut as well.

It's a very interesting perfume, definitely on the sweeter side and I think it's really worth the money!

Sandalwood lovers easy reach
I don’t get any toothpaste nuance, thankfully. Referring to the review below, that’s actually the first time I’ve heard of anyone experiencing that with this fragrance. What I do get, is a really sexy, yet understated, elegant sandalwood forward fragrance with sparkling citrus on top. This pairs nicely with Prosecco and champagne. It can be worn to a casual brunch or business dinner. It’s bougie on a budget and I’m 100% here for it! You’ll feel clean, put together, confident, sexy, sophisticated and refined while wearing this. Oh and the bottle and over all packaging is absolute perfection, imo. I love snakes! They’re smart, calm, collected, focused and the way they move is so incredibly sensual. This is the vibe of Musamam White Intense.

Gris Charnel's summery sister
I wouldn’t buy this for myself necessarily but it is a wonderful scent, very elegant, unisex and expensive smelling.

My dad has Gris Charnel Extrait so I can compare them side by side for anyone interested in getting this as a dupe: I don’t believe they are fully dupes but they’re definitely related. MWI is very citrusy throughout, and although it is woody and slightly powdery as well, the combo of citrus, coconut and ylang ylang (all notes not present on Gris Charnel) are extremely prominent. Gris Charnel is so well blended I can’t detect notes individually as easily, but it smells more powdery and woody on me than MWI. I wouldn’t call Musamam a tropical or summer scent, but when smelled side by side with GC, this is the spring and summer sister to GC’s fall and winter.

TLDR; not dupes, but similar enough to where if you adore Gris Charnel and want something similar but more summery I would check this out!

No relation to Gris Charnel
Musamam White Intense is baffling. I bought it because all the descriptions I could fine online were for a creamy but fresh coconut-sandalwood scent. The only lactones I love are the ones that exist in nature, i.e., milky notes wrenched from peach skin, fig leaf sap, or sandalwood, rather than from an off-the-shelf aromachemical labelled ‘milk’ or ‘gelato’, so the naturally blond-on-blond idea of Musamam White Intense appealed greatly to me. But smelled blind, I would have pegged this more as the lime peel and rubbery, peachy undertones common to some frangipani materials, over a tart, pale lumberyard-ish wood that might be sandalwood but that could also be hinoki or oak, given its vague, slightly featureless woodiness (I guess I was right about the blond). While it’s true, technically, that there is a tiny bit of milkiness and a nuance one might conceivably define as coconutty if you squint hard enough, the character of this scent is mostly sour, silvery woods washed in a mineral stream with citrus rind. There is a tart pineapple not in there somewhere, too.

Despite the gap between expectation and reality, I quite like Musamam White Intense and wear it the most out of all my recent acquisitions. Or, maybe it’s not so much that I like it but that I have yet to figure out what it smells like to me. It continuously evades my grasp, which frustrates me. It might be the rare case of a Lattafa that is abstract and therefore complex, or it might be that what this scent is going for is something like the scent of driftwood on a winter’s beach, in which case it nails the brief. Spun as a citrusy, woody ‘ambergris’ beachcomber scent, I get it. I can see that. Try to sell me Musamam White Intense as a creamy-milky-coconut thing, though, and I start to believe that most of the people reviewing it are either full of it or are aping the review below them out of fear that what they are smelling must be ‘wrong’.

Was this actually discontinued? I don’t see any indication of that anywhere else. Glad I got a bottle! Gorgeous scent!

If you have Zara Red Temptation & Sandalwood or Energetically New York you don't need this. It is very close to those. Spicy sandalwood.

Warm cozy sandalwood with coconut. But there's definitely an odd minty note later, which keeps it fresh and not get too buttery.

This is very woody when it’s properly oxidized- over 5 months. Sandalwood in all it’s forms. Loud pickly aspect, creamy and fresh woodyness.

I own and wear this but am not sold on it. I do not agree with those labeling this as a summer scent at all, this is a spice bomb.

One of the worst scents I have ever smelled. All I smell is sharp metal.

Coconut dominates with a hint of mint & sandalwood.
Floral, fruity, creamy, sweet, feminine.
Smells much more luxurious than it is.
