citrus/neroli heavy leather

Gorgeous perfume. On the heavy leather side. It opens with a burst of neroli and citrus (bergamot), but the leather punches through straight after and it hits hard!
Initial thoughts: Neroli Portofino layered over a Gucci Guilty Absolute type leather. After about 10 minutes, everything settles into a harmonious point. The inspiration behind the perfume really comes through in the scent. You can feel the layers of the notes, just like hearing musical notes in a chord—distinct yet beautifully blended.
It’s a love for me, though not something entirely new. I prefer Fanfare from this line.
Absolutely nothing like Naxos. Elevated Oud from Zara comes to mind. I sprayed it to compare, and while they are not similar, they do share a comparable vibe, probably because of the heavy leather note combined with the citrus freshness.

You definitely smelled it off the strip

Imagine me putting this on, getting all that complexity and then I see people think this scent is sweet-citrus-fresh in the listed accords. That's how I know you only smelled it off the strip.

Chords arguably has the most complex opening of any 2024 scent I've smelled so far with a contrast of medicinal ambers and floral tones. It smells very intense and oriental in the top. The initial feeling of the scent, with the smoky edges and mild leathery nuances, reminded me of Masque Milano's Ribot given the mild green contrasts.

True accords: floral-oriental-woody-smoky

When smelled on-skin, Chords at first offers a strong contrast of accords with the smoky-ashy combination of cedar and tobacco overwhelming the florals in the top and heart. At this stage of the fragrance, it is most comparable to Clive Christian's Matsukita where the smoky, charred woods feel opposes the jasmine to make for a smoky jasmine tea scent. With Chords, the cedar somewhat cools off and the scent settles into a light tobacco that combines with the ylang-ylang and the same animalic-sweet honey note that Thameen used in Bravi last year. This is also what the ultimate drydown is like, but the role that the cedar plays should not be underestimated throughout the wearing experience.

The scent opened very strong, but fades into just strong within an hour. Nonetheless, the expected longevity will be around 10 hours here. For me, the complexity gives the scent a clear masculine lean. At €295/100ml, the product is not priced that outrageously. Make no mistake, this is not something for the faint of heart.

Masterpiece of elegance and class

This is a masterpiece
very elegant and classy
the initial burst of citruses and florals fade quickly and you get this creamy high quality spicy leather with touches of honey and tobacco
very long lasting: 8+ hours on skin and eternal on cloths
Sillage is really strong: room filler in the first 2 hours
more masculine leaning
can be worn in an office setting but I would keep that for highlight events when you need to stand out
