A breath of nothing
Hardly any other fragrance line is as polarizing as the 'Pur' line from LV.
Each of these fragrances triggers extreme reactions - whether for the nose or for the price.
Now I had the opportunity to try both new creations in the line.
Mentally, I prepared myself for a journey into the unknown.
Physically, my nose prepared itself for the possible ordeal.
Tensely, I first smelled the sample of Pur Santal. Pleasant was my first thought.
But as the saying goes: don't let the day go before the evening and within seconds my nose was able to enjoy the finest nature á la Kuhstall again.
A few Vietnam flashbacks to Pur Oud later, my SA looked at me and was delighted to introduce me to the second fragrance.
I prepared myself again and wondered if I had really reached such a low point that perfumes could affect me so much.
I plucked up my courage and smelled the second sample.
- nothing -
I looked at my friend and the SA in amazement and asked if she had sprayed anything on the sample strip.
She said yes and asked if she should spray it on her skin instead.
No sooner said than done and the three of us smelled it several times at the spot in question. A brief sweet plume of sea salt and then emptiness...
A yawning, deep, sobering emptiness.
No emotions, no reactions and, above all, no composition.
A breath of nothingness.
