A new instant Crush
“What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the rest of the world calls a butterfly." - Bach
Instant Crush undergoes a captivating metamorphosis, transforming into something entirely new, leaving only a faint shade of its sweet essence from before.
In the opening, it loses its softness and creaminess, giving way to rugged, leathery notes that are incredibly alluring.
Its personality now shines with strength, becoming a fragrance for those who wish to be noticed, for those with character and passion.
Yet, amidst the intense undertones, something of Instant Crush occasionally resurfaces, like a sweet memory to relive, a moment of nostalgia that warms the heart.
Perfect for those who love intense and lasting fragrances that undoubtedly leave an indelible mark.

Quite a departure from the original, a sueded, less sweet, denser alternative, also quite nice
Sampling Mancera Intense Instant Crush, a 2025 release and follow-up/flanker to Instant Crush, released in 2019, which was very popular in the months following its release. The original is a pleasantly fresh, bright, sweet blend of vanilla, amber, jasmine, and rose, very easy for me to like, though I never quite loved it enough to buy a bottle. Intense Instant Crush is a considerable departure, in my opinion, less sweet and bright, with a suede-type note as the main difference, which changes the character entirely from being a bright fresh sparkly sweet floral gourmand to a leather-centered-but-still-sweet sort of blend. Intense feels denser but perhaps less boastful since Instant Crush is quite a performer, but overall, performance is comparable. Overall, I see Intense as a quite-different offering that probably works better for more serious occasions since it’s a little less sweet and bright. Both are very good, and I welcome this new version. I feel that it’s unlikely I would connect the two unless they were so named. I quite like both, though.

Unlike most of the line, which is EDP, Intense Instant Crush is extrait concentration, and has a higher price point of $235 for 120ml, sold in the US via the house website and great boutiques like Olfactif, from which I’ve bought this and other samples. As with most Mancera and Montale offerings, though, Intense Instant Crush is also available on the secondary market.

When Leather Meets Desire
Recently, I found myself at one of those semi-planned evenings. You know, someone texts "Come over, a few people are here," and you think, okay, let's see where this leads. I didn't have anything major planned, but somehow there was something in the air. So, I showered, threw on a sweater, and before I headed out the door, I sprayed 3-4 spritzes of Intense Instant Crush.

Let me put it this way: this stuff does something to you. It's not a "Here I am" kind of statement, but more like, "I was already here before you even noticed." The scent doesn't cling to the skin like a heavy curtain; it drapes over you like a silky shadow. That leather at the beginning, dark, slightly smoky, almost a bit dangerous, but then something sweet comes in, maybe caramel, or amber, anyway something that makes you pause for a moment.

The living room was crowded, a bit of music, people on the balcony, someone mixing Aperol with something that was clearly not Aperol. And at some point, someone stands next to me, says not a word, just grins and after a while says, "You smell like… something I better not start explaining." I had to laugh. That's exactly it.

The scent doesn't develop in stages; it rather tells a story that you don't immediately understand, but you still go along with it. First dark, then warm, and then there's this soft afterglow. Not a typical "woody spicy men's thing," but something unique. Sandalwood, vanilla, patchouli, but mixed in a way that you don't have to dissect each note individually.

It lasts long, very long. The next morning, it was still lingering in my hoodie. And even though my head wasn't exactly fresh at that point, it somehow fit... I like it anyway :-)

Love with a Bazooka
New year, new fragrance, and is there a more beautiful fresh start than falling in love at first sight? Whether Intense Instant Crush lives up to its name, you will find out in my first review for the year 2026. At this point, a big thank you to my 14 followers, whoever you are, because unfortunately, Parfumo does not reveal the followers, so I can only thank you impersonally, but rest assured, I feel honored and have concrete goals for this year, namely to break into the Top 100 most active users for reviews on Parfumo. With currently 138 reviews, I'm not too far off. Of course, this also requires new fragrances, and Mancera makes it quite easy in this regard, as 5x 2ml costs 18 euros and 5x 8ml costs 65 euros. A very fair offer to fully indulge in the brand, and said and done: 16 new Mancera fragrances await me in the near future. So you can now gladly call me Mancera Man or Mister Mancera, alternatively, you can also just skip it hahaha, enough of the intro, let's get to the scent.

Unfortunately, I do not know the predecessor Instant Crush and cannot make a direct comparison, but the Intense variant is said to be darker, bolder, and more hypnotic than ever according to the manufacturer. At the beginning, I perceive a strong saffron note, which definitely shapes the opening and thus one of the three phases of the fragrance. Unavoidably, I automatically think of Oud for Greatness Eau de Parfum with saffron fragrances, which has influenced me so much that a direct comparison usually turns out to be unfavorable for other fragrances, which is clearly the case here as well. However, Intense Instant Crush wants to present more than just a spicy saffron note, and the second phase does not take long to arrive. After a short time, the black leather joins in, and I really like the spicy, leathery combo; it is well done. The second phase of the fragrance remains true to its leathery note for about 4-5 hours until one realizes that suddenly this mix of vanilla/sandalwood/musk breaks through in the third phase. The transitions are wonderfully done and harmonious, and I would generally claim that many more women should dare to approach the scent, as currently, out of the 68 users on Parfumo, a whopping 84 percent are male. I attribute significantly more unisex potential to the fragrance, although I also fundamentally believe that leathery fragrances tend to suit the male gender better.

Regarding performance, I was surprised; yes, the word intense is often misused in the perfume industry, and you get a fragrance that says goodbye after just 3-4 hours. However, with "Intense Instant Crush | Mancera," love seems to have actually put aside the bow and arrow and instead taken the bazooka. This extrait has ignition and ranks in performance on my skin alongside fragrances like "Oud Satin Mood (Extrait de Parfum) | Maison Francis Kurkdjian," as I could perceive myself with four sprays on my neck for over 10 hours. That is absolute Champions League and deserves praise.

The Mancera bottles will probably not win any awards for innovative bottle design, yet they make an elegant impression and have a certain recognition value. I find the bottle design good, but nothing more.

In terms of price, I am completely convinced. Mancera generally offers one of the best price-performance ratios out there, and even with the "intense" Extrait de Parfum variants, they have remained modest in price compared to niche competition. For 120ml, 179 euros are charged. For that, you get a good spicy/leathery fragrance with outstanding performance and a decent bottle, top! And for those who want to test smaller variants first, they can also order these, as already mentioned, cost-effectively as a sample or travel size set.

I have very little to criticize about this fragrance and definitely recommend it. The only thing I am a bit unsure about is the naming, as the fragrance does not have that aphrodisiac effect (at least not on my nose). It is good, no question, but for an instant crush, I wouldn’t rely on saffron and leather. I have already created more of an "Instant Crush" effect with fragrances like "Noir de Noir (Eau de Parfum) | Tom Ford."

He’s got something
Well, I have to say, as is probably clear from the name, this fragrance is meant to create an "Instant Crush," and it has succeeded quite well. Right after spraying, I notice a strong leather note, later joined by rose, and it remains in this leathery, sweet, and rosy DNA. For me, it has something mysteriously dark that one wants to explore. Perfect for evenings and, due to the H/S, also suitable for party nights. This will definitely cause a few turned heads or "Instant Crushes."

Pleasantly surprised! Didn’t want to try anything from Mancera tbh but this woody leather base made my day.

Prominent leather note in the opening. Smells like a black leather jacket + champagne. Eventually the salted caramel sweetens it a bit, but not much

The classic Instant Crush DNA is present, but the leather makes it feel noticeably more mature and darker. I really like it.

The new black biker jacket with caramel in the pockets stands out. The original waves from afar. Not badly done.

Smells very oriental. The original DNA is slightly recognizable. But here you can also smell leather & Oud. In my opinion, it's a great fragrance.

Quite pleasant. Saffron, leather, caramel, and lots of rose. A beauty! But not something I need to buy. Still great.

Sweet dark leather, finely balanced with rose, sandalwood, and musk. I really like it. Don't spray too much ;-) This stuff is intense!

A distinctly leatherier version of Instant Crush. A bit too much on the leather side for me and quite overpowering.

A prominent leather scent with a hint of the original but not nearly as sweet. It feels more masculine. H/S is good.
I prefer the original.
