Oudmazing, what a name. It sounds like the best Oud fragrance is about to come. This doesn't make me very happy, as I don't like intense Oud. In the past, it was even worse; I couldn't stand Oud at all, but nowadays I find that subtly used Oud can smell quite pleasant and good in fragrances.
At this point, of course, a big thank you to a certain cat-obsessed perfumer for the sample of this fragrance, although it might be difficult to guess who she is, as most people here are cat-obsessed. How else can one explain the fact that some people often check my profile? Am I actually interesting to the perfumers? No *sobs*, of course not, they all just want to see my cat *sigh*
This little rascal. I’m going to quickly give him an evil, jealous look.
*staring at the cat*
Crap, he just woke up, looks at me all confused, lets out an incomplete meow (incomplete because he starts to meow, you can hear the "Mi," but he can't continue because he has to yawn! So it's a Miiigäääähn!) and therefore looks adorable as always. Now I have to give him a kiss too.
*cat kiss* …
*removing cat hair from lips*
…
Stupid rascal… confused, sleepy, but his hairstyle is ALWAYS on point, so he still looks good :D
Hmm… I seem to be digressing,… oh yes, the fragrance Oudmazing:
The Fragrance:
Wow, a powerful Oud cloud is released right at the beginning. At first, you can hardly smell anything but Oud, but that doesn't last long. The Oud remains extremely strong, but in the next few minutes, other fragrance notes also come through. The top note has a generally fruity undertone, and I would say that you can best detect an orange here. The other fruity notes create a kind of fruity mix,… something like a fruit conspiracy.
I also smell a slight iris, which makes it softer and more powdery. The jasmine is easily recognizable with its almost unmistakable sweetness and… of course… makes the fragrance sweeter. But the patchouli is almost as strong as the jasmine, so you can also perceive the typical earthy patchouli scent. In my opinion, I find the patchouli even too strong, so that together with the strong Oud, it might come off as a bit overwhelming.
I almost wanted to write that leather is missing, especially for such a fragrance, but in the base, the fragrance actually releases a leather note, albeit a bit weak. The vanilla, which comes in later than usual, adds another sweet note (or almost replaces the jasmine) and makes the fragrance softer, like the iris. Otherwise, the fragrance mainly smells of Oud and patchouli in the base.
The Sillage and Longevity:
The fragrance is strong. Really damn strong. A single spray is basically enough for everyone to perceive it well from a distance. A large scent cloud definitely lingers for a longer time with a few sprays.
You can imagine that the longevity is also quite strong. Alone on the skin, you can smell the fragrance from morning to evening or even late into the night, although after many, many hours, of course, the scent starts to weaken eventually. Oh, and by the way, it still smells on the skin after a shower!
The Bottle:
Well, I just can't warm up to the bottles from Montale. To me, they look like small (possibly medical) bottles with the caps unscrewed. Anyway… This bottle is shiny black. The label is gold-plated, and a logo plaque hangs around the neck. It's nice in itself, but as I said, there are prettier bottles for me.
Wow, it smells so strong here!
Due to the summer, I have logically been testing more summery fragrances lately. And what do you know about most summer fragrances? That they are naturally fresher. And that they usually have a rather low sillage. So I unconsciously applied way too much of this fragrance here, so now my whole room "stinks." No, the scent has filled the entire apartment, probably the whole house. Oh, what am I even saying… I mean, you can smell the fragrance throughout the whole neighborhood, and it's hot today, making the scent feel more overwhelming than on cooler days! Phew…!
But it doesn't smell bad. Okay, it's not necessarily my fragrance, as I'm not really into strong Oud scents and I don't like patchouli that much either, but Oud lovers should quite enjoy this fragrance, especially if they're looking for something strong with Oud for autumn and winter, which still has nice sweet notes with a soft background. Usable anytime on cold days, but at work, you should really apply it sparingly. You can apply more when going out if you want, although for partying, the fragrance isn't sweet/pretty enough, well, at least in my opinion.
So, as I said, Oud lovers should check this out. But those who can't stand Oud will probably just look as confused as my cat or even run away :D
