FINALLY a Montale that excites again
First of all, I would like to address some potentially negative statements upfront.

Yes, it is a Montale and yes, it has the well-known Montale hairspray note (synthetic).
Also, rose plays a dominant role again and yes, the bottle quality is the same as it has been for over 10 years.

Now, let's get to the scent. :)

Right after spraying, I get such a strong "fresh basil note" in my face that it startled me. Fortunately, this initial basil note disappears as quickly as it came, and the coffee comes to the forefront.

In the background, a mixture of the previously mentioned rose note joins the coffee, along with a not-so-fresh basil note.
This trio then stays for the first 1-2 hours.
Gradually, the vanilla and caramel take over from the coffee and share the stage with the rose and basil.

For me, this is FINALLY, after about 2 years of waiting, a really beautiful Montale scent again. The last successful Montale for me was Dark Vanilla.

With this fragrance, the longevity and sillage are FINALLY also on point again. However, Montale has not overdone it with the sillage this time, unlike with Arabians Tonka.
Therefore, the scent is very well received in my surroundings and is not considered intrusive.

However, I do have one major criticism.
The fragrance is currently not available in Germany and is only obtainable in Italy. Very, very unfortunate :(

One of the most beautiful Montales
Once again, a review of a Montale, a brand that is very difficult to navigate due to its numerous releases. Testing through all of them is really challenging, so I don't even try. However, I have to test selected fragrances from this brand, as they are quite enticing in their presentation. This Rendez-vous a Milan was one of those. Not only the name, but also this wonderful fragrance pyramid. Most of the notes are indeed very present. I'm surprised that this scent hasn't received more attention. It is really hard to compete with the hype fragrances from this house, as they are especially hyped on social media. I can definitely recommend this one, and this fragrance has been on my wish list for a while.

The price-performance ratio of many Montales is quite good. A great balance between designer and niche prices, and most releases fall within that range. The bottles may look quite pretty in pictures, but when you hold them, they feel significantly cheaper due to the material. The box also leans more towards designer. The cool Montale pouch that this bottle comes in is a nice touch.
In terms of scent, this is my favorite among the sweet Montales. I haven't tested all the relevant Montale fragrances yet, but this one is really cool. A wonderful sweet-spicy scent that is also quite wearable in milder temperatures. It's not a heavy fragrance, and the basil note gives it really nice green-spicy vibes. You should test it if you're looking for sweet fragrances for transitional weather or the evening.

Listed as a similar scent is Intense Cafe from the same house. Yes, they do go roughly in the same direction: coffee, rose, vanilla... quite a few elements these fragrances share. However, this Rendez-vous gives you significantly more breathing room and is perfect for those who don't prefer an atomic sillage. It projects well, but is rather an uncomplicated fragrance that radiates a lot of sensuality. You get a wonderful blend of sweet, spicy, gourmand, fruity, and that unique basil note that keeps it a bit lighter. The opening is characterized by that basil note, which is also listed in the heart note. This note definitely lasts a long time and works wonderfully with the gourmand undertones. This fragrance never becomes too gourmand, but the sweetness remains throughout. There's also a light coffee note that isn't too intense. The rose note is very active here, coming across similarly to how it does in Intense Cafe. A slightly fruity DNA underlies this rose-basil note. The sweetness, which should come from caramel and vanilla, is present throughout. It's never too sticky-sweet but rather beautifully soft. Clove and musk-amber also play a role. The main players are clearly basil, rose, and a lot of sweetness. Overall, a wonderful sensual fragrance that can be worn very well on mild days. Those who enjoy sweet fragrances, for example in spring, will find a great option here. Everything is very rounded, soft, and simply seductive. Moreover, this fragrance is absolutely unisex.
The performance is perfect for those who find a beast mode sillage like Montale's too much. The scent is well perceivable but still extremely suitable for everyday wear. The longevity is also extremely solid.

You can treat yourself to this for the price. A very pleasing fragrance that convinces and lives up to its name. This would be a great date fragrance, but it also has everyday wearability.

Definitely a successful Montale once again
The Rendez-vous à Milan is a truly successful fragrance.
It starts with a basil note, which I find particularly special and really like.
You rarely encounter such an accord.
Unfortunately, for me personally, this accord fades a bit too quickly.

After the lovely basil accord, the fragrance transitions to coffee, rose, and sweet notes.
Somehow, this feels familiar to me.. hmm :D
It brings back memories of Intense Café, and I currently have Dahaab Saafi, which smells almost identical to Intense Café.
The vibes that these two fragrances have are also clearly felt here in Rendez-vous à Milan.
This is my personal opinion and perception.

As time goes on towards the end, it becomes subtly sweet for me, but without the coffee vibes. More amber, caramel, and vanilla come to the fore. Interestingly, these sweet components seem to float on a slightly fresh cloud for me.
Perhaps it’s also because I washed my hands from time to time and the soap came through :D

Longevity and sillage are good.

Overall, for me, a good Montale fragrance.
Definitely worth trying.
This one will surely find many fans again.

Handbag Bottle and Everyday Scent
I am not a fan of embellishments, ostentation, or luxury, not even in the world of fragrances. Display-worthy bottles are a nightmare for me. A bottle must - I think - be able to be tossed casually into any crazy bag (from handbag to sports bag) without losing its cap or even its contents. The Montals can do that to some extent. They jingle delightfully in my bag thanks to the clip, but if one were to complete the deodorant bottle character and put a cap on, they could actually become scent-tight. Well, that's my personal feeling about the bottle. I would also harmonize the somewhat trashy exterior presentation a bit.
For fans of simplicity, the scent that is supposed to interpret a sunny day in Milan is definitely worth a journey. The top note is magnificent, an authentic basil scent, freshly grated, almost a bit tipsy and extremely cheerful. I see myself - freshly out of the hotel shower - happily hopping through the Milanese fashion world. But the first clouds are approaching quickly. Unfortunately, this sparkling sensation does not last beyond the top note. Too soon I find myself sitting in front of coffee and a Milanese pastry, right next to the rose bush, which I personally find unfortunate. The start was sooooooo beautiful. What is really good is the prominent basil note. I can clearly perceive it for 2-3 hours. It supports the Italian metropolitan flair and prevents slipping into the (scent) province. The ensemble of coffee and green sometimes reminds me a bit of cardamom and remains unobtrusive throughout the entire scent progression. The sillage makes the scent an all-rounder for me; others might describe it as "mediocre." You certainly won't offend anyone, but you also won't necessarily stand out positively. The scent simply underscores a beautiful day in the city and lasts through the entire shopping tour. For me, it's a well-balanced summer daytime fragrance, suitable for any gender and any situation. I’ll toss it in my bag right away and test it this weekend in Turin. I'm curious to see if it fits that occasion too ;-)

Montale's Milanese Mocha
Milan is one of the cities where I absolutely want to spend an extended weekend in my life. Strange, why this elegant fashion metropolis in northern Italy has never been on my itinerary until now. In any case, I now know which perfume I would take with me - because Montale shows with this local rendezvous that they still know how to do it… and how!

“Rendezvous a Milan” overlays the typical Montale coffee DNA (for example, from their milestone “Intense Café”) with an extraordinarily delicious basil-green. Is this addition enough for a bullseye? Yes, because this Milanese date brings even more spice and uniqueness to the table than simply slightly altering the aforementioned legendary DNA. It remains a Montale, it remains a coffee delight with minimal hairspray milk in it. But Milan certainly adds enough character and individuality to stand out. It has become a really good everyday scent, that much is quickly clear. Elegant, delicious, a gourmand for summer?! Montale pulls many strings here. A real insider tip in their (far too broad) portfolio. A citrusy rose, soft basil (the absolute unique selling point!), high-quality coffee with a hint of caramel. Never sticky, always wearable. With a remarkably high compliment density. Delicious. Italian. Stylish. And yet playful enough. This is not just a rendezvous, but close to love at first sight!

Bottle: at least a bit more playful than usual due to color and pattern
Sillage: Montales are never really quiet. No matter which city.
Longevity: manageable - 7-9 hours

Conclusion: Milan is still beautifully green behind the ears… Style and fun finely combined in one of the better Montales in years! Coffee culture at 35 degrees - Bellissimo!

Very nice coffee note, warm and cozy. Wore it at midday on a fresh and sunny autumn day (ca. 15 degree) to go for a coffee. I am enjoying every whiff

It's been a while since I liked a Montale. Even though it's somewhat gourmand, the basil prevents it from feeling too edible.

That's quite a lovely rendezvous. Not basil, as I know it from men's fragrances, but rather a sweeter version. When wearing it °°°

A lot of basil, sweet fruits + clove. Caramel, dusted with vanilla. A little coffee. My rendezvous flops... it's too sweet for me.

As always with Montale, it shows no mercy: too much rose oxide, too much ester, too much musk, too much maltol - basil brings some balance!

Extremely strong rose scent, very overpowering. Rose oxide quickly becomes too much for me. Gaudy, 80's bombastic style. Only okay when used sparingly.
