After what felt like an eternally long wait since I found out about the new Marly release, DHL Express simply did a great job and the parcel from France arrived this morning, just 2 days after the release. Suddenly I wasn't really prepared for it, but of course I unpacked it straight away. I don't have to say much about the bottle, in my eyes it is simply beautiful. I really like the Marly women's bottles anyway, but this one is definitely the most beautiful of them all. It comes with a small porcelain tray in the same color. I am downright delighted ️
But to the fragrance:
Palatine starts with a tangy, very citrusy pear, a really nice start, your eyes close, you breathe in, you smile. Oh yes, there you are at last. After a few moments, this settles and here it comes, an absolute blast of florality. I can't say exactly which flowers it is. I explicitly don't smell the violet and it feels as if the perfume house has sent all the little girls out with the order to collect all the flowers that smell very beautiful and very strong. Don't get me wrong, that's not a negative thing. It smells beautiful, but you should probably like a floral bouquet like this because there is not much more development here for the time being.
For me, this is the most floral fragrance I have ever smelled, but yes, it is beautiful! Somehow it nestles in, it doesn't sting like some white bloomers do to me and it's not as penetrating as some well-known and very popular designers.
Palatine is somehow warm and envelops you in a very special aura that makes me a little bit happy because it simply, and I'll say it again, smells beautiful!
Has Parfums de Marly completely reinvented the wheel here? No, I don't think so. But are you getting a wonderful, floral fragrance that the majority of people will definitely like? Yes, definitely! I think
Palatine would be a fragrance I would recommend if someone asked me what to wear as the best smelling person in the room but with as little fuss as possible.
And here we come to the sillage. #Palatine is by no means as potent as a
Delina Eau de Parfum or a
Valaya Eau de Parfum. In terms of sillage, I would assign it to its sister
Meliora. But that's not a bad thing. There's nothing screeching here, nobody is begging for attention. Here you are simply yourself, smiling, content and somehow at peace with yourself in a field full of fragrant purple flowers. If there are any left then....Parfums de Marly have picked them everyone
