Heaven in a bottle

Oh, if you haven't smelled this perfume, you don't know what heaven smells like!

It is a Chypre perfume, luxurious and exceptional.
When I wear it, it takes me to luxurious places in the imagination.

A short analysis of the smell: Dominant opening of Aldehydes, with peach and other flowers that smell like heaven.

I definitely recommend trying first and not buying blindly.

For me it is 8.5/10.

The usual RD con or is it great marketing?

I have many of Roja Doves creations. Mainly in 8 ml testers because I would have to sell a kidney to buy a bottle. Like with many products such as champagne you can pay ridiculous prices for something that is supposedly the best or unique. This is all bollocks. No matter what the professional perfumer or vintner says. There is nothing on earth that justifies the price. Just like champagne it's sold to a market where price is no option. £1450 for 100 ml of perfume that smells OK is not justified. I don't care if I'm told that the rose absolute costs ex amount because its prepared in a cauldron for ex amount of years by unicorns. I have tried so many of Roja's creations and yes they do smell nice. Many don't last very long so you will need to sell your other kidney just to enjoy the perfume.
Yes he has created amazing perfume but I judge him on the fact that he creates over priced perfumes that can't be enjoyed by all rather than oligarchs. His lesser priced perfumes are just copies of other houses. It's a shame that such a great talent alienates the everyday perfume lover to be able to enjoy his creations.

Chypre Extraordinaire and Diaghilev

I have some scents - like a pair- which are perfect to wear for couples. ️ This is the first pair.

The best classical timeless Chypres inspired by vintage Mitsouko!

If you want to buy a totally new bottle and the budget is not limited I highly recommend to try these ones before buying a new version of Mitsouko or Rochas Femme. Those are nice as well but these are so incredible amazing ones with extraordinary quality! The classy well blended complexity which is hard to find.

Very strong and majestic, deep and rich blend, a challenging to wear for many. This one definitely needs the right kind of clothes, otherwise you look and smell totally ridiculous. Yet, I see in my eyes a handsome man after a bath in Versace bathrobe. Sharp and spicy, leathery and musky, mossy with a gentle touch of animalics - everything in this scent is heavy. So GORGEOUS!

Main notes:  - Lemon, Bergamot, Lime, Orange, Tarragon - Jasmin de Grasse, Tuberose, Heliotrope, Violet, Blackcurrant Buds, Peach - Patchouli, Oakmoss, Benzoin, Labdanum, Leather

CHYPRÉ EXTRAORDINAIRE

Soft and fruity, sophisticated and subtle, very refined yet addictive and complex beautiful scent. This is brighter and lighter (not weak) than Diaghilev and a little bit sweet. This is like a sun and Diaghilev is like a moon. This is like a queen and Diaghilev is like a king. There is amazing mossy base with Civet and Musk but animalic vibe is absence. Totally in love with this delicate yet well projecting scent. Definitely a year around scent for me.

Main notes:  - Bergamot - Tuberose, Ylang Ylang, Peach, Plum - Moss Base, Cedarwood, Sandalwood

One of if not the best chypres priced at a point that would make Escobar envious

I truly have a love/hate relationship to Roja. I love many of his creations but can’t stand the pricing and glitter stuff surrounding the perfumes.

As a lover of the old classics his creations usually draw, let’s say quite some resemblance to many of them.

Danger is albeit a better version very close to Guerlain Heritage, Great Britain has a very close dimension of Cuir de Russie (Chanel) whereas Oligarch and isola blu is easy to mistake for Terre d Hermes. And one must not forget the Diaghilev and Mitsuoko comparison or Fetish / Bel Ami (Hermes)

Or like Luca Turin put it in his initial review in A-Z

“These are blasts from the past with very good ingredients. This makes me believe he is a curator rather than the creator”

I sure that CE is his take on another classic, Im just not sure which one.

With all this being said, this is a chypre made to almost perfection. It’s exceptionally well balanced. It has almost all the aspects of a Chypre:

Citrus top (bergamot)

cistus mid. (The oil not the absolute, labdanum)

And a mossy animalic bottom with leather and civet.

But it is so much more and not to mention refined. There’s no harshness at all in this one.

If you, like myself is a true lover of vintage chypres. This is really something else.

With that being said - the price is indeed ridiculous. I didn’t pay his asking price. And I won’t should it run out.

But as a fragrance - this is really something else.

Swindle Extraordinaire

This one has a sparkly effervescence. It also seems to draw elements from Diaghilev i.e. that very realistic oakmoss plus raunchy civet in the late dry down. Luckily the civet in Chypre Extraordinaire is a lot more tame.

Ultimately all Chypre Extraordinary is to me is a white floral with oakmoss & laudanum, supported with a light touch fruity peach and plum, with a civet lurking in the late drydown. 100ml, yours for $2,000 USD ?

From a distance I can already hear the owners of CE lamenting the $1,600 they overpaid

If you want a beautiful white floral backed + fruity, look no further than Roja Parfums' Tuberose and skip all this exclusivity nonsense.

Tuberose is a white floral that remains fruity and juicy, Chypre Extraordinaire is a white floral with some fruitiness but veers more dry & dusty due to the oakmoss, with some animalics in the late drydown.

The oakmoss and civet that you'll miss out on in Tuberose isn't worth the extra $1,475.
