Not a compliment getter, but nice!
I am quite perplexed why L'Oscar isn't talked about more.
When sprayed it, I immediately sensed a bouquet of different notes.
It opens up with mild grapefruit note which in seconds dies down and gracefully stays in the backround. There is a really beautiful labdanum note which gives almost green leathery creaminess ( it is quite hard to explain), I guess the nice sweetness comes from the mayflower and the mild spiciness comes from carnation. The base has very nice woodiness ( from sandalwood, guaiac wood and cedar), which is very well accompanied by the spiciness of the pepper and nutmeg and also complemented by the earthiness and bitterness that comes from the oakmoss and vetiver. And let's not forget the celery seeds, which is an interesting addition that in my opinion, makes this fragrance more memorable.
It is a very well blended ( well duh. It's Roja) and unique smelling fragrance.
I wouldn't call this a "compliment getter", but if you wear this- you will stand out and make an impression.
I would say L'Oscar belongs in the same category as for example: Creed's Royal Oud, in the sense that if you wear a simple t shirt and jeans, the fragrance will wear you and not vice versa. This is as bourgeois, posh as it gets. You have to be at least semi- dressed up to "fit" this fragrance.
I would say this could be worn easily in spring, fall and winter. Summer could work too, if not too hot.
Longevity and sillage is quite good.
I like it.
