Maremma Tiziana Terenzi 2013

Maremma is a very nice scent. It is a sandalwood & patchouli creamy fragance with loads of cocoa and a sweet flowery vibe. It is true that is very similar to black orchid by Tom Ford. If you smell them together there are some differences. Maremma smells more intense and overall more natural while black orchid is a bit more medicinal and plástic. In adition maremma has a better performance and lasts more time on skin projecting in a low/moderate level for 3-4 hours while black orchid projects high the first hour and then fades off quickly. However if a smell them separatly un different days i cant say which perfume is...i have tried It with my brother telling him use the two different days and i would say which one are you wearing...and not...i couldnt! I must say that i usted to LOVE black orchid because years before had a gorgeous performance. Now nevertheless It has changed and It has Lost all his powerful so maremma is a good option for those Who miss the old black orchid... Better for night time with fresh weather. Unisex!

I included Maremma in my Tiziana Terenzi sample order because it is supposed to be similar to highly touted Black Orchid. I have never sampled Black Orchid and figured on testing Terenzi's version while going through others from this house. Well, assuming Maremma does smell close to Black Orchid, I'm never coming close to it. In short, Maremma is a sweet, floral, plastic, synthetic mess. It's only redeeming factor is that as it dried down, it did mellow out a bit although it still remained awful. I can't see any man or woman wearing this. It is just SO bad.

Longevity was good while projection was more moderate. The only thing worse than Maremma's scent is the fact that its longevity was good and I had to put up with it for so long.

With this fragrance, we have arrived in Tuscany, specifically in the hilly Maremma Valley, where this perfume attempts to exude the essence of this place. The scent promises fruity and floral notes with a woody base, all of which, according to the description, has "incredible" longevity. We shall see….

The scent:
The fragrance starts off fruity-fresh and initially reminds me completely of grape sugar; shortly after, blackcurrant joins in. I believe there is also some Ylang-Ylang, which provides a light floral note in the background.
Additionally, the scent is very powdery from the start. Perhaps this is due to the iris. From the heart note onward, a gradually stronger oud appears, which, in my opinion, does not quite fit the soft-sweet fragrance direction, as the iris makes the scent powdery, but the oud makes it seem a bit sharper. However, the fragrance remains floral.
In the base, it becomes woodier. Fortunately, the oud does not become too strong and even recedes a bit, allowing the scent to remain powdery and pleasant (of course, the fragrance is still pleasant for anyone who likes oud).
Patchouli and amber are hardly noticeable; cocoa is initially very faint, only detectable if you put your nose close to the sprayed area. Otherwise, from the base onward, you only perceive a floral-powdery scent. Only after two hours and even longer does the base become truly wonderful, with a powdery chocolate-cocoa note that smells delightful, though unfortunately it starts to weaken in sillage at that point. Nevertheless, it is an excellent fragrance.

Longevity and sillage:
The stated incredible longevity is okay, not really incredible, but it lasts on the skin for 8-10 hours and can still be faintly detected the next morning with generous spraying, although then it only smells like "something sweet" on the skin.
The sillage is okay. I would say above average. From the heart note onward, it even becomes a bit stronger and will thus be noticeable to others.

The bottle:
Somehow, it seems there are only round and rectangular bottles here. We have another rectangular one, which, as I always write, somewhat resembles the cubic bottles from YSL. This one is black and has a thin wooden plate as a label, on which the name is engraved. The cap is appropriately rectangular, also black, and sits on a golden neck. All in all, very well done.

Ah, Maremma is really well made. As already mentioned in the statements, the beginning indeed reminds one of sweet and delicious grape sugar. Since the fragrance is powdery from the start, many will enjoy it; however, I find the oud note somewhat unnecessary, but fortunately, it quickly fades. The base should not confuse, as it initially smells floral-powdery for some time before the lovely cocoa notes come through and make the fragrance more delicious.

Whether this fragrance can truly exude the essence of the Maremma region, I cannot say, but it has become a lovely scent that is great for going out and can be worn in autumn/winter. Those who wish can also use it at home due to its soft and powdery notes, allowing one to be surrounded by a pleasant and fragrant cloud for a while.

I would definitely recommend giving it a test.

If a fragrance settles on my skin for 24 hours, and the first thing that hits my nose in the morning is the scent from the day before, then that’s definitely worth a review.

One thing in advance, my attempts to navigate the fragrance pyramid have miserably failed. Maremma has too much power, and after two full sprays, I feel completely overwhelmed. This stuff packs a serious punch. And that punch lasts a long time.

The opening on my skin is like a blend of fresh, fruity, spicy, and at the same time sweet, although the freshness fades (too) quickly, but maybe that’s intentional. After that, as I said, I can’t find myself in the fragrance pyramid; Maremma simply remains incredibly full. I feel like I’ve layered Tom Ford's Oud Wood and Lost Cherry with Kilian's Intoxicated. Whether this massive mixture is appealing or not, the scent is definitely impressive and remains so.

What I completely miss in the pyramid, and what I increasingly perceive over time, are vanillic undertones. However, arranged quite differently than one would expect from typical vanilla scents like Vanille Fatale or Tobacco Vanille.

This blend of woody notes with the sweetness of honey and (I stand by this) vanilla likely brings that heaviness, and the scent gradually envelops its wearer (m/f/d) in a pre-X-mas mood. Heavily suitable for Christmas market vibes.

As I said, I have rarely smelled a perfume that I find so difficult to describe. Also because there are always new facets to discover over many hours.

And for that reason alone, a test recommendation.

Longevity is massive, overnight is no problem. Sillage is dangerous, because first, it’s strong, and second, it might cloud the senses of the office neighbor. The bottle is a statement; this is not for the faint-hearted, but for someone who knows what they want. When: in the evening and in winter. Who: I see the ladies among us finding it appealing; for the gentlemen, pffff, I’m not so sure.

Definitely not mass-produced, in my view, a special fragrance for special people.

A fragrance that I tested a long time ago: Maremma from the Classica line by the Italian brand Tiziana Terenzi. Even though the brand is viewed as somewhat divided in the community, I appreciate this brand for its great compositions and usually excellent performance. Additionally, you often get the fragrances at really good prices. I tested this Maremma a very long time ago, and the sample has now come back to my attention. A truly wonderful scent and a fragrance DNA that immediately reminds one of the vibes of "Black Orchid (Eau de Parfum) | Tom Ford." The spiciness, the dark sweetness, patchouli-everything goes somewhat in that direction. However, Maremma is a bit softer and not quite as abrasive. Here, perfumer Paolo Terenzi has once again done a great job interpreting a fantastic DNA. Whether intentional or not, the fragrance convinces me entirely.

The price-performance ratio of the brand is top-notch. The fragrances from the line can be had for around €100 for 100ml. The overall package makes an impression, and you receive a beautiful bottle in great packaging. The quality of the fragrance also leaves a good impression, for me already niche and high-quality.
You get a unisex fragrance that goes in an interesting direction. As mentioned, very much in the vein of Black Orchid. Thus, this is a mix that is quite special and may not appeal to everyone. I'm surprised that the fragrance doesn't evoke more reactions here through statements & reviews; it is definitely not a hype fragrance from the brand.
Maremma has something dark and mysterious about it. This is probably also due to the patchouli, but here it is definitely a bit brighter than Black Orchid. Maremma also has beautiful warm-floral notes from ylang-ylang and jasmine. The iris root brings a slightly earthy note. In terms of fruit, you get the lovely dark blackcurrant that provides a wonderful fruity, slightly juicy start. For warmth, especially from hour 2, there is a wonderful honey note that, however, does not become too sweet. The fragrance retains a dark touch that is quite interesting. As a sweet component, cocoa powder follows the honey, and this remains stylishly sweet. Some woods follow as well, especially well-cared-for sandalwood. A bit of warmth comes from amber, opoponax, and labdanum. This combination creates a high-quality and harmonious impression. Patchouli is also active towards the end and contributes to those dark, slightly earthy vibes. Overall, a very coherent creation that is very harmoniously woven together and well-suited for the darker hours of the day. The fragrance is unisex and impresses with a striking DNA.
Performance is really good, and the fragrance stands out with a good sillage and a longevity of around 10 hours. The fragrance is suitable for everyday wear and evening, especially, as mentioned, for the later hours of the day.

Overall, a really good release that could be a great alternative to Black Orchid. This Maremma is a bit softer and should also be well-received by those around you.
