Something new from me. The Foconero from the house of Terenzi. This brand is really cool, even if some people don’t quite warm up to it. Stylistically, this brand has its own signature that you have to like. In my opinion, perfumer Paolo really knows his stuff. Creations that are simply very catchy and usually have bomb performance as Extrait de Parfums, even freshies like this one. This Classic line in black with the wood look is still the "cheapest" line. Some cost over 600 euros, most around 200 to 300 euros for 100ml. The Classic line is regularly available for 175 euros, but often between 50 and 70 euros cheaper in some online stores. Definitely worth it, as these are Extraits that perform well.
I bought this one at the end of last year. Pretty much in winter, but this one works all year round. Even though it probably works best on warmer days, you can't go wrong with it in any weather.
I also recently bought "Percival | Parfums de Marly." It is listed here as a scent twin, but I don’t see it as closely related to this Foconero. Nevertheless, they fall into pretty much the same genre: a pleasant daytime scent that never strays too far from the norm. Fresh, spicy, pleasant, and cheerful. Definitely scent types that you can use daily and not just wear 2-3 times a year. If you want a more agreeable, noble scent, you should definitely reach for Percival. A great scent that is less abrasive and simply accompanies you pleasantly throughout the day.
Now back to the Foconero: I tested this a few months ago via a decant. I like these
Fierce Cologne-like scent types, although the original doesn’t convince me as much anymore. The initial notes are quite pleasant and predestined for a daily freshness.
Since one often orients oneself to twins, I ordered a small sample of this Foconero. At first, it wasn’t love at first sniff. However, over time, I liked it significantly better. It spreads good vibes and is simply a great companion. I couldn’t find significant similarities to Fierce and Percival; scent type yes, DNA no. I rather recognize vibes from "Vodka on the Rocks | Kilian," along with classic vibes like those of "Insensé Ultramarine (Eau de Toilette) | Givenchy." Overall, very unique and not too similar to any other scent.
Foconero has quite a large pyramid. It smells a bit more complex, but without being overwhelming. An easy-to-wear scent with Italian influences. Lots of citrus, juicy, juniper. As it develops, a maritime-salty freshness comes into play. Very interesting and pleasant. Additionally, a subtle spiciness and a lot of soft wood. For me, it’s thoroughly enjoyable.
Similar to "Kirkè | Tiziana Terenzi," this one also has nerve potential if you don’t like the Terenzi signature. Similar to Kirke, Foconero is a scent that comes across much better in the air than when smelled up close. You should definitely test it, as a blind buy would be quite risky. Much riskier than the more agreeable Fierce & Percival.
In the statements, I read about sweat notes. I can't confirm that. Perceptions can vary greatly with many scents. The drydown after many hours is a bit dull, but I couldn't detect any sweat.
The best thing about this scent, in my opinion, is the performance. It’s annoying how these wonderful top notes in the freshness category fade too quickly. It can be very useful in leisure time, but for a daytime scent, it’s rather bothersome if you don’t want to keep reapplying. The Extraits deliver, and this one does too. It easily lasts 8-10 hours with mostly grand sillage. Recommended.
Unisex, I can agree, although it will appeal more to masculine types. A great choice for everyday and sporty activities. And that all year round.
Worth a test if you like Terenzi and are looking for a scent with good performance in the freshness category. Between about 100 and 120 euros for 100ml, it’s definitely worth grabbing. Quite unique.
