Sirrah Tiziana Terenzi 2018 Extrait de Parfum

Sirrah opens for me with a wonderfully fruity freshness that also carries a hint of soap.
One would want to indulge in a whole bath of it right away.

Despite the elegant cleanliness, the fragrance also has a sensual quality that makes it absolutely wearable for men. Especially on hot summer days, Sirrah showcases its strengths: The fruity floral, slightly sweet note remains present for a long time without ever being overwhelming.

The sillage is distinctly noticeable without becoming too loud, and the performance is, as is often the case with Tiziana Terenzi, more than solid.
On my skin, it lasts significantly above average, so that even in the evening, one can still perceive the pleasant, clean fruitiness.

A fragrance that truly blossoms in the warm season and instantly lifts your spirits.

I like fragrances from Tiziana Terenzi. They are usually very high quality, intense, have character, and great performance.

Not so with "Sirrah"...

At first, I thought "Wow, what a great scent! A must-have." It started off very nicely: finely green. If those are fruits, then they are not ripe and juicy, but still green-fresh. Over time, very subtle leather notes join in - this makes the fragrance incredibly appealing.

A lovely musk (a lot of it) comes in and turns the whole thing into a very fine, green-milky, noble skin scent. I say skin scent because at this stage (1st hour) the fragrance does not project properly yet.

In the 2nd hour, a distinct birch tar note comes in (at least that's how I perceive it). It makes the fragrance significantly more masculine, but also more interesting. (By the way, I don't perceive any floral notes at all).

A nasty transformation happens unexpectedly in the 3rd hour: gone is the ethereal-fine green-resinous scent. Long live the exhaust fumes! Or the chlorine cleaners! I can't describe this extremely unpleasantly synthetic, toxic-smelling note any other way. (Similar note to the JNxNJ-John Varvatos x Nick Jonas (crimson) in the red bottle, which ruined any enjoyment I had of that fragrance)

I still don't know what exactly it is that smells so much like chlorine to me. But this note or accord projects quite strongly, it's very hard to wash away, and it's annoying!!!!

But the fragrance remains so chlorine-rich all day long.

For me, definitely a big flop.
What a shame, it could have been so beautiful between us....

To be completely honest, I must admit that until now the formula

Tiziana Terenzi fragrances + me = not compatible

has applied.

No, it is certainly not because the fragrances are poorly made. On the contrary, I always find them to be of very high quality and in many ways also unique. They all last a very long time and usually have a noticeable projection. Actually, these are all characteristics that I like. I have just often experienced them as willful, dominant, and sometimes scratchy (bristly), so the desire to have a TT fragrance in my collection has rarely arisen.

However, my perspective has changed somewhat through the new fragrances of the Luna Collection and through “Porpora” (a constant inner struggle about whether I want it or not).

“Sirrah” (a star in the constellation Andromeda) entered my personal test orbit:
Immediately after spraying, I have the impression of standing ankle-deep in tart, sour fruits (quince / passion fruit). I am not a big fan of fruity scents, especially when they appear sticky-sweet. However, I appreciate the tart fruits because they seem particularly vital and lively to me, often providing a pleasant freshness kick.

At this point, I am already taken with what Paolo and Tiziana Terenzi have created here. The label “they can do fruits” is certainly justified in my view.

Gradually and slowly, the fruits “ripen,” gaining in fruitiness and restrained sweetness.

Very fine saffron threads and sparkling pepper weave through the fruits, providing a very special twist. All the fragrance components seem to be very agile, tumbling wildly together and adhering to no order. But that is exactly what makes this fragrance so lively.

Rose and amber throw their advantages into the ring, creating a finely floral-ambered atmosphere. Not too much and not too little, but perfectly balanced.

That takes skill, and the Terenzis seem to have it.

Aromas from light woods and fluffy soft musk underpin the lively activity.

Still, there is no real order in sight; all participants dance around and yet manage to create a uniformity and synchrony that greatly benefits the fragrance.

And then there is a special note that is present throughout the entire (very long) fragrance journey. At first, I thought it was light oud. However, in my research, I came across the idea that it must be this special oxygen molecule that is responsible for this particularly bright and slightly cutting scent impression. How does that work? No idea. But it doesn’t matter, as it does a pretty good job.

“Sirrah” is far from a classic fruity fragrance for me. I perceive it as rather herb-fresh-tart for a longer time. This changes in the course of the fragrance as the other fragrance protagonists join in, bringing restrained sweetness, floral notes, and spiciness. “Sirrah” doesn’t become really sweet for me, but rather milder, finer, and equipped with a feel-good base.

Personally, I like “Sirrah” best when it’s a bit warmer and the fragrance can fully showcase its refreshing side. This is also supported by the sillage, which is clearly noticeable but not exaggerated. Based on my personal testing experiences, I would classify it as unisex, as the tart-fruity aspect stands out for me. But that can, of course, be different for everyone.

As is customary with the Terenzis, “Sirrah” is also an Extrait de Parfum, which has an ambitious price of €365 for 100ml. Whether the truly high-quality ingredients and the beautiful bottle are worth it is something everyone must decide for themselves.

However, I will gladly change my initially mentioned formula…
