Is very expensive also = very good?
I think the Seastar collection really divides opinions here; the price is indeed almost cheeky, it’s not like it’s a Roja (irony), and the bottles with the packaging are almost extravagant. I’ll say right away that I was able to buy Cubia from a very nice perfumer and did not pay the MSRP, but now I’ve bored the reader long enough, let’s get to the most important part: the scent itself. Upon spraying, I immediately smell a fruit explosion; the listed notes in the fragrance pyramid are really well detectable, especially the peach, orange, and blackcurrants. After about 2-3 hours, woods join in; I perceive sandalwood and a slight incense note. I really cannot understand the statement about the great chaos in the bottle because, for me, the fragrance has a very well perceivable scent progression and does not smell chaotic at all; I have experienced much worse. The only point of criticism here is that the top note could be a bit clearer and a little more orange wouldn’t have hurt, but this is just my personal opinion. Now it’s time to clarify the most important question: is the perfume worth the high MSRP? I would say yes, under the following points: I give the perfume a 10/10, I love pompous packaging, and I find the usual expensive perfumes like Roja, Xerjoff, etc., too boring. Unfortunately, I do not belong to the absolute fans of this perfume. Cubia is really very good and an incredibly great perfume, but unfortunately not a 10/10, and for such a price, the scent has to be at least 10/10 for me to justify spending over €400 on a perfume. I would find €200 acceptable for Cubia, but the quoted price is, in my opinion, really too much. Ultimately, everyone must decide for themselves whether they are willing to pay the price for Cubia, and I will leave the price out of the evaluation as it would distort the rating.
