Creamy, woody, sweet---solid blend
Sampling Xerjoff Torino, a 2020 release from the Shooting Stars collection. I’d previously tried out Torino21 from the Join the Club (JTC) collection but my Torino sample wouldn’t spray so I had to wait for a replacement, which Xerjoff did provide. Quick aside: the two scents are quite different, not variations of one another. Torino21 is more of a freshie, whereas Torino is a sort of sumptuous creamy, almost gourmand-adjacent scent.

I actually don’t see this for sale anywhere, even the Xerjoff Universe website, when searching online, so perhaps someone else knows its pricing and where it’s currently available, or if it’s discontinued.

According to online sources, Torino includes notes of vanilla, caramel, guaiac wood, black pepper, orange, neroli, and vetiver, and most of these notes makes sense. It’s creamy and sweet first and foremost but with spicy and fresh angles, and just the tiniest bit of an earthiness coming from the vetiver.

It makes for a rich and dense blend with sweet-but-not-too-sweet sensibilities, something that one could get a lot of use of in the winter, but probably isn’t too offensive to wear in milder weather. I think this would be a lot to handle in the heat. So it performs well, hits a few key angles, and frankly doesn’t quite remind me of anything specific while nonetheless having a bit of a familiar feel.

I’m instantly a fan, as I was with Torino21, even though they’re very different scents.

A Piece of Furniture in your Weird Life
- Why are you over here?
- I just like being a piece of furniture in your weird life.
- This is what my life has become. I got stuff in boxes.
- I'm underground. That's appealing to you?

Quote from the movie "Juno"

Torino is very peculiar, I cannot associate it with any other perfume I know. And I still don't know if I like it or not. I think it will be one that I will love after 3 or 4 wears.

It has a powerful, fresh opening, with sour orange and plenty of black pepper, which lasts for about 5 minutes. Then neroli and gaiac wood come in.

With the nose close to my skin, it smells like Ikea furniture but in the air it has a sweet, earthy, caramelized scent, such an addictive and gourmand combination.
Later on, you feel a very soft vetiver and patchouli (which is not listed). Vanilla is also noticeable.

Performance is quite good. Longevity is around 10 hours. Sillage is just above average.

The soul of Turin
In a quiet alleyway in Turin in July with a very good friend on the hunt for something very special and then when the sun casts golden rays on the old facades, the door opens to a small boutique in Via Cavour. Inside, there is a hint of history in the air - and the warm, sweet breath of a fragrance that captures the city in bottles.
The fragrance:
The Torino Botique Exclusive begins like a morning walk along the streets of Turin:
The Brazilian orange sparkles like the first rays of sunshine on the water - fresh, fruity, but not garish. Then the soft laughter of neroli, teasingly accompanied by a hint of black pepper, resonates like an elegant conversation in a pavement café.

As time passes, the evening settles over the city. Guaiac wood and Haitian vetiver weave a deep, earthy warmth, while the caramel and Madagascar vanilla wrap themselves around the senses like a velvety cloak. It is the moment when the lights come on and the voices of the city melt into a soft murmur.

Torino is not loud. It's not a call, it's a look. A look that says: I know my story. And I know how to carry it.

The longevity is as you would expect from a Xerjoff - excellent, but actually not very strongly perfumed. On the skin it develops over many hours, on clothing or scarf it often remains perceptible until the next day. It changes its character carefully, so that each phase of its fragrance development has its own charm.
My conclusion:
Torino is not a fragrance for everyone. If you are looking exclusively for fresh, sporty fragrances or expect an extremely loud sillage, you will not find what you are looking for here. However, for lovers of complex, warm compositions with a clear luxury DNA, it is an experience. It carries the elegance of an Italian bespoke fragrance, the serenity of a city with centuries of history and the understated pride of a brand that knows how to define exclusivity.

Peppery and slightly "dirty" orange
The classic Torino definitely has rough edges and will therefore not appeal to everyone.
Personally, I'm not a fan of the fragrance either.

At the beginning you can definitely smell the listed orange. Relatively quickly, a peppery note is added, as well as slightly "unrounded" neroli.
However, Néroli can also be quite unrounded due to the vetiver used.
You definitely get slightly earthy-woody vibes here.

The fragrance was also not really well received by most people. Words like "musty", "dirty" and "demanding" are often used. Nevertheless, this orange is still present somewhere, trying to lighten things up a little.

Towards the end, the fragrance becomes increasingly woody. I can't really detect any vanilla.

The performance is okay.
It doesn't really project for long, but it's not a weakling.
It projects really well at first. The durability is again good.

Soft, well blended but aroma is cloying, headache-causing. Zesty Orange w/ aromatic, weird Vanilla. Sadly only a few from Xerjoff r for me.

"Bizarre" is a euphemism. Probably the weirdest fragrance I've ever smelled. What lasts from this is only the name... given to Torino 21.

Bizarre scent. Woods and spices giving it a sharp furniture store vibe. In levels of nasty, it's ~1/5 of Xerjoff's "Don", an acquired taste.

A lot of incense and warm spices. Would not describe it as vanilla caramel.

Turin exclusive ... may very well stay there ...
