thumping bass notes
I know some people are bored with the recent abundance of "fruitchoulis," but not me. Particularly in cool weather, I enjoy the way that fruit and patchouli play off against each other. I was particularly interested in this one because raspberries and lychee play such a nice part in several scents I own.

But have you ever played with the balance adjustment on a car or home stereo? Turned to one side or another, it can turn your favorite song into a high-pitched screech or a thumping, unintelligible bass.

When I tried YSL's Elle, I got all of the treble (pink berries, lychee, sweetness). When I tried Elle Intense, I got all of the bass (patchouli, a hint of spice, patchouli, and more patchouli). For the pleasure of my nose, I would set the balance knob at the fruit/patchouli level of YSL's own Belle d'Opium and forget about the unbalanced Elle and Elle Intense.

ELLEgante ELLE
Elle EdP Intense came to me a few years ago as a partially used bottle from a blind purchase.
I only realized it was the Intense version when the bottle arrived, but that didn’t bother me since I liked the scent immediately - a successful blind buy that I do not regret.

Since then, I have worn it often and with pleasure, and the 50 ml bottle, which is by the way an elegant piece of jewelry, is slowly coming to an end.

Elle Intense starts with a strong burst of raspberries that are neither too sweet nor artificial. I don’t perceive lychee; the raspberries seem too dominant for that.
This is followed by lush jasmine blossoms that join the berries.
Patchouli and amber provide additional warmth and depth, yet the scent simultaneously radiates a slightly metallic coolness. I believe that comes from the benzoin.

In the meantime, I also own the regular Elle. However, I haven’t used it much yet and have not been able to notice many differences compared to the Intense, but perhaps I will provide an update on that later.

The scent is beautiful, in any case. Unfortunately, it seems to be somewhat absorbed by my skin. Although it has a very good sillage, one spray on my colleague seems stronger than three sprays on me... it’s probably a matter of skin chemistry. She has a darker skin type than I do with my snow-white complexion.

Elle Intense radiates the elegance of a dark-haired, cultured lady with long wavy hair in a luxurious long purple evening gown and black high heels. She knows what she wants and exudes a certain eroticism without ever appearing cheap. It would certainly suit Catherine Zeta-Jones well and especially Monica Bellucci. Elle Intense is a scent with class.

Maybe I will get another bottle, otherwise I still have the "normal" Elle.

Help, a bomb!
Yes, this stuff is really BOMBIG, I have to agree with Blanche, who also provided me with a sample that I was really excited about.

First of all: THIS is how a high-quality fragrance should smell. Elle Intense smells totally high-end and "expensive." It is intense without being overpowering and delicious without being gourmand. Awesome, really.

This perfume smells extremely berry-like, floral, feminine, and powerful. I would generally describe the scent as rather oriental.

It-is-simply-a-well-made-perfume! And that, even though the composition seems quite simple. Very interesting.

I think the scent adapts well too. I would wear it during the day, in the office, or who knows where. I just wouldn't overdo it. That gets annoying. Not just for the people around but also for oneself.

Addendum:
Now I know what Elle Intense reminds me of: Midnight Poison, in the broadest sense. But I don't know why. Basically, Elle Intense doesn't really smell like Midnight Poison.
Or does it?

That's how it should be, that's how it can stay
That's how I wished it. Everything fits perfectly together because finally everything is right and it captivates my heart.

And while I was humming along to this song by Ich + Ich - of course, I know the lyrics by heart and can carry a tune - in the evening traffic jam, the wonderful scent of Elle Intense wafted up to my nose again and I thought, yes, everything fits perfectly together here too, and the stylish guy in the Audi TT next to me probably found it interesting that women also perfume themselves in traffic jams. He couldn't know how wonderful I smelled, but he would have liked to. ;-)

The structure of the fragrance is so refreshingly simple. It's such a delicate fruity raspberry, no rough grains to disturb me, more the fine delicate juice, and I find it really brilliant that this raspberry stays, yes it stays, do you hear Lolle, this raspberry stays (at least on my skin)!!! It harmonizes with the iris, the divine jasmine, it rolls over the wood, and even the tough guys from the base like this little berry, it simply wraps everyone up. Patchouli has been made really velvety soft, no comparison to the original Elle variant. Eternity, you absolutely must try Elle Intense, you will be surprised.

I ignored the recommendation "elegant version for the evening," but I do pay attention to the dosage, because this fragrance has an excellent long-lasting skin-close hold, is sensual - but not intrusive or too opulent, but definitely an extraordinary creation. The berry note gives Intense a bit of lightness, which suits this fragrance very well and makes it wearable not just for the evening. But if it should be the evening in the little black dress - dose higher! With that, Intense and the environment can handle it, I mean, adjust the dosage to the occasion, with this fragrance it works, I have already tested it.

I don't know who created this variant of the fragrance from Yves Saint Laurent, but compliments! For me, a real discovery this year, which fits perfectly into my taste.

Finally, You Are Mine Again!
After about 2 years of abstinence, "Elle Intense" has found its way back into my collection.
And not without reason, because this fragrance is truly very special.

The scent starts for me with a rich raspberry; later it becomes slightly spicy and woody, but always remains sweet. In contrast to the regular Elle EdP, this one becomes a bit softer and richer at the end.

The sillage is remarkable and the longevity is enormous. Applied in the morning, I can still smell it in the evening. I was often approached by both men and women about this fragrance back then.

All packaged in an elegant and simple bottle - Thank you Yves Saint Laurent :)

Noble Fruitchouli: First dark & cool with patchouli & tart berries. Then sensually warm with a hint of benzoin. Midnight Poison à la YSL.

Elegant and unique, subtly fruity-woody, not sweet, a bit cool, with patchouli dominating on me.

A berry compote of superlatives. Not too heavy, yet lovely and sensual.
A hint of spices is perfectly integrated here.
