Girlie girl designer vibes for a niche brand..?

Starting my first exploration of this brand with this one! I do have to admit it's very designer-like: a bit generic, fruity sweet with some freshness. It gives off very girlie girl soft vibes, similar to the vibes I get from the Chanel Chance fragrance line (although I haven't tested a lot of Chanel fragrances).

The beginning is tart, slightly sour and mouth-puckering with a fruity blackcurrant and a juicy strawberry. I barely get any pear. As it moves on, it starts smelling fresh (slightly synthetic) and also slightly floral with the turkish rose and the strawberry pairing well together. Drydown is a little bit more warm with an undertone of creamy woodiness from the cedar.

I don't have any beef against this fragrance, but per the reviews I've been seeing about it, it's pretty clear there are cheaper alternatives out there. bdk is a niche brand, so I was expecting something a bit more niche, y'know? I also found the performance on my skin quite subpar as it became a skin scent after about 15 minutes and I did put on a lot. A disappointing start for this brand...

"Smells like the airport shops!"

Almost the same as Chanel Eau Tendre minus the quince note. Rather generic for a niche perfume at that price point, especially as the Chanel is more reasonable and has better wear time. I gave my sample to my little niece and she said "it smelled like the airport shops," a really apt observation I couldn't agree with more.

Un parfum pour prendre l'avion...

A l'ouverture, ça sent surtout l'alcool et rien d'autre. Je me suis même demandée s'il y avait vraiment du parfum dans la bouteille. Apparaît ensuite une délicieuse odeur de poire blanche. Hélas, elle disparaît en à peine quelques secondes. Ce qui en reste est quelque chose de très (trop) léger que certains ici ont comparé avec l'Eau Tendre. Cette comparaison me semble pertinente.
Si vous en mettez avant de prendre l'avion, soyez assurés que nous ne dérangerez pas vos compagnons de voyage.

One of the prettiest spring bouquets

This is a delightful pink fruity floral. It's true that this is quite similar to Chance Eau Tendre (EDP, I'm sure the EDT is not that different, but I haven't smelled that one in ages and can't say for sure). This doesn't have the Chanel DNA though, which I'm fine with - Chanel certainly makes some nice fragrance, but I have never been obsessed with the house.

Just like Eau Tendre, the heart and soul of Bouquet de Hungrie is a blend of creamy jasmine, white musk and light dewy rose. The strawberry and pear in the opening make it a bit sweeter, but they're not too in-your-face. I especially enjoy the subtle strawberry, it's very light and natural, but still noticeable.
Overall I would call this clean, but not soapy, as it doesn't smell like bar soap or soap bubbles. It's just very floral, springy, perfect to wear with a pastel sundress.

Maybe this is not the most original fragrance, but I think it's among the best of its category. And on my skin it lasts fine, too. Strong like!

Beautiful fragrance for an ordinary woman on an ordinary day

Bouquet de Hongrie by BDK came to me through a sample swap with my perfume-enthusiast friend, and you could say I initially sniffed past it. "Aha, yes, quite nice, next strip, next sample." Other fragrances fascinated and irritated me much more, but as I pondered what elixir to spray on in the coming days, the memory of the unspectacular Hungarian bouquet annoyed me almost every morning, no matter what interesting creations came my way in between.

There are days that are just nothing special. A bit of home office, a bit of walking the dog, a quick trip to Edeka. Even though fragrances have the wonderful ability to transport the imagination to other worlds and to shift one's mood, that can also be bothersome on a perfectly normal day. When I have enough to do and everyday life demands a lot from me, the fragrance doesn't need to demand anything from me either and can simply be a pleasant, quiet companion that is there but doesn't scream for my attention. Bouquet de Hongrie is exactly that: A friendly, unexcited, unpretentious companion - and yet for my nose maximally beautiful, moderately perceptible, well-groomed, a bit fruity, very floral, more creamy than fresh, and never associated with the worry of overwhelming anyone. Not boring, I would rather say: A stress-free agreement with ordinary life, the landing strip after creative flights of fancy, a relaxed no to "always wanting to be special." It is what it is.

I take a bit of pleasure in identifying more with the "unisex idea," avoiding pink wherever possible, and oh, definitely not too feminine in everything I do and buy - and here it’s funny how Bouquet de Hongrie has still checkmated me, because this fragrance is really very feminine, timeless, classic, ageless, not a wallflower, not a femme fatale, not a career woman, not a girly, but simply: woman.

Bouquet de Hongrie: Beautiful fragrance for an ordinary woman on an ordinary day. And that's often how it is. ;)
