Complex Forest
This is a great scent if you want to smell like a forest with a little campfire smoke. This scent opens up very peppery and smokey but not overpowering like smoke can be sometimes. Its like a campfire that is trying to light a wet piece of wood. The pepper and smoke within a few minutes and settles into this really nice pine and cedar smell with a little bit of tree sap. Its a mix of rubbing your face up against some pine needles and opening an old warm cedar chest. Breezy but comforting. The dry down is a light sweet tobacco and earthy smell. I was still able to detect it on my skin after 6 hours. The projection is decent, I was catching whiffs of throughout the day.

Hinoki - The Slightly Different Forest
Hinoki... what is that anyway?

This question occupied my mind first when I first laid eyes on this fragrance during a swap offer.
I found the name and the bottle immediately appealing, and a glance at the fragrance pyramid did not diminish my interest in this previously completely unknown scent.
The only thing I viewed with a somewhat skeptical eye was the Georgywood, yet I decided to go for a swap and welcomed the bottle to my home a few days later.

But what is Hinoki now?
It is a Japanese precious wood derived from the false cypress.
This cypress is one of the five sacred trees of Japan.
This listing likely arises from the fact that the wood from these 5 trees has mostly been used for the temples and shrines of Japanese culture.
However, there are differing opinions on which 5 trees exactly belong to this list.

Anyway, as I said, I like the name, the bottle, and also the following sentence that belongs to the fragrance description. Quoted below:

"Inhaling cigarette smoke while we make love, somewhere in the Hinoki forest."

My nose does not quite capture this type of description, yet it is an exceptionally beautiful scent that I will definitely keep.

I do not perceive cigarette smoke, or anything smoky at all.
What I get here is a green, fresh, and slightly woody fragrance.

The green foliage presents itself in a very fine way. It is not uncommon for the needle-bearing wooden towers to have this distinctly woody note, often paired with noticeably sweet components. For this reason, some fragrances of this category have already moved out.

Hinoki-Shower perfectly caters to my taste. This woody, green pine combines here with a potent and distinctly noticeable fresh note.
Yes, somewhat synthetic at times, but never bothersome or overwhelming.
Camphor likely plays a significant role here as well.
Even though you do not get its classic sharpness here, it certainly contributes to this freshness kick.

Vetiver and moss form a perfectly tuned base for this.
Tobacco plays almost no role for me here.

In summary, a wonderfully refreshing, woody, slightly synthetic green fragrance with moderate longevity and gentle sillage.

The sprayer is very pleasant; it mists exceptionally fine from my perspective and perhaps symbolizes a bit of the calm, refined, and rather reserved culture of Japan.

Hinoki? You are mine!

A refreshing breeze that envelops the senses...
A misty morning in the forest, the sun is just rising, the air is cool, fresh, and clear. Camphor trees and cypress stand majestically beside pines, exuding their spicy scent. The smell of fresh resin and clear, pure water fills the air. We venture deeper into the forest, stepping on soft mossy ground, feeling the warmth of the sun as an intense aroma of thyme greets us. We discover a hidden corner where tobacco leaves are drying, and the scent of ripe tobacco mingles with the earthy freshness of tree moss. The surroundings radiate warmth and tranquility.

A vibrant fragrance that unites nature, freshness, and depth. The various facets range from refreshment to deep calm. Masculine tendency, but definitely unisex.

Beautiful forest notes, woody-green overall. Quite nice, but there's also a synthetic freshness that wasn't needed.

A fine, dry neo-chypre scent (?!) with a mossy, cypress-woody finish. 10°, cold, wet, and uncompromisingly green!

Woody, masculine, just right. No fear of turpentine or anything like that. Really nice thyme note.
Not harsh, works well for everyday. Like.

Behind the sleek, beautiful coniferous wood accords, unfortunately, lurks a synthetic note that gives me a furry tongue. Diagnosis: Lack of depth.

Definitely Hinoki, like "Monocle Scent One: Hinoki | CdG" but with modern, shower-gel-fresh notes, giving H+S slightly annoying off-notes.

Authentic petrichor in the opening. Later, a very lovely coniferous forest scent. A unique perfume that lives up to the brand name.
